  1. Hi Spikey, I like your Bee, well done! I see the main wing is retained by a couple of rubber bands, are they strong enough? If they aren't up to the job, the wing may move in flight changing the angle of incidence, which would account for the pitching under power. Re the smell from the ESC, have you measured the motor current draw to make sure it is within the ESC's capabilities? Hope this helps, Sparks
  2. ... and to redress the balance, here is a leccy powered one. Flies just as well as the oily ones.         Edited By Sparks on 01/07/2013 16:17:41
  3. + lead to the square end. If you look closely at the X60 connector, you will see the + and - signs are moulded on the edges.
  4. Two - decorating the hallway (ARTP - Almost Ready To Paint) and a Firefly Gyrocopter.
  5. I was one of those taken in by Weston Parks Model Show blurb, which clearly states that it is a three day event on the 14/15/16th June and was charged the full £11 for entry. Were there 100+ trade stalls? - NO Was there a Mega Swap Meet? - NO Was there a Massive Boat regatta? - NO (unless they all had sank) I could go on, but you get the message, I felt cheated. The advert was gross misrepresentation. Guess who won't be going again? I feel better having got that off my chest!           Edited By Sparks on 14/06/2013 21:53:51
  6. On both my Wot4 and Acrowot Foamees, the first thing I did was to throw away the metal U/C retaining self tappers. Drilled and tapped M5 threads and used nylon bolts to hold the U/C. I've broken a few bolts due to heavy arrivals and wheels encountering pot holes. With over 300 flights clocked up between the planes the plastic U/C mounting platforms have remained in place. I commend this mod to the house!           Edited By Sparks on 10/06/2013 16:20:39
  7. If there is a Toolstation store near, you could try this. Won't break the bank and ,as the others say, a small amount wil last you a long time.
  8. I wonder how 'toggle' switches perform in higher vibration environments? I would be more comfortable using the 'slider' type with IC installations. Anyone got some practical experience? I guess the ultimate are the PowerBox solid-state switches if your pockets are deep enough. Sparkser
  9. Hi Ray, Sorry to hear your problems, I had many trouble free flights (over 200) with my Wot4e before I passed it on to another club member. I replaced it with a foamy AcroWot. One mod I did was to tap out the U/C mounting holes 5mm and use 5mm nylon bolts instead of the supplied metal self-tappers. The nylon bolts then shear on 'heavy' landings instead of ripping out the complete U/C mount. Best of luck with the repairs Sparks
  10. A practical observation:- I have just bought a Seagull Harmon Rocket ARTF .. and I'm impressed with the quality of the kit. The MKII version used two elevator servos positioned at the rear of the fus (one for each elevator half). However, the MkIII kit now uses a single elevator servo mounted amidships. If Seagull reckon one servo is progress, then who am I to disagree?
  11. David Cameron is visiting a Glasgow hospital He enters a ward full of patients with no obvious sign of injury or illness. He greets one and the patient replies: "Fair fa your honest sonsie face, Great chieftain o' the puddin race, Aboon them a ye take yer place, Painch, tripe or thairm, As langs my airm." Cameron is confused, so he just grins and moves on to the next patient. The next patient responds: "Some hae meat an canna eat, And some wad eat that want it, But we hae meat an we can eat, So let the Lord be thankit." Even more confused he just grins and moves onto the next patient, who immediately begins to chant : "Wee sleekit, cowerin, timorous beasty, O the panic in thy breasty, Thou needna start awa sae hastie, Wi bickering brattle." Now very troubled, Cameron turns to the accompanying doctor and asks, "Is this a psychiatric ward?" "No," replies the doctor, "This is the serious Burns unit."
  12. Simon, I can't find anywhere to select the 'sellers location' anymore, despite the following statement which still appears on the ad page: "This is the list of the latest ads to be posted in all categories. You can click '- Seller's location -' and use the drop down list of regions to filter adverts by location. Select '- Seller's location - ' again to show ads from all regions." It was a useful to be nosey and see what the locals were flogging!   Edited By Sparks on 21/01/2013 22:14:34
  13. Hello Ian, Currently there isn't an OAP category in the 'rates.txt' file (well not in the version I have) As a workaround, you can just type £10 directly into the Club Rates box instead of using the 'Set' function. Hope this helps, Richard   Ian, you posted the solution whilst I was typing mine!, So mods please feel free to delete my posting.   Cheers, Richard (???)   Edited By Sparks on 20/01/2013 14:12:30 Edited By Sparks on 20/01/2013 14:15:04 Edited By Sparks on 20/01/2013 14:16:32
  14. Hi ian, I'm running Max's program with Windows 7 (32 bit) and it works just fine and I have just done the first BMFA block submission (abt 60 members to date) I followed Max's installation instructions to the letter, placing all the files into the C:\RcClub directory and created a desktop shortcut to the RcClub.exe file to launch it. Can you be a bit more specific than just 'having trouble getting it to work'? Regards, Richard   Edited By Sparks on 17/01/2013 16:40:30
  15. Sorry Frank, didn't read the small print! However, I'll stick to Farnell at £1.16+VAT for a box of 100.
  16. £1.35 for a M3 Hex Nut - they have got to be joking!
  17. To answer the original question, the current rating of the JST XH series of connectors typically found on the end of LiPo balance leads is 3A DC. Sparks         Edited By Sparks on 30/12/2012 16:54:23
  18. Scott - google is your friend! Kinetic Motor Systems KMS KBL-21EF Brushless Motor for the Phase 3 Fantom and EF-16 is designed for great performance in your airplanes. Motor Voltage 7.4 to 11.1V. KV (rpm/volt within the voltage range): 5100kv. I/O: 2 amps (amps required to run the motor, when unloaded (no prop). Resistance: 50m. Max Current: 30 A. Continuous Max: 25 A. Fan RPM is approximately 46,000. Blade RPM should not exceed 60,000 rpm
  19. The blades for the Durafly Auto-G Gyrocopter are in stock at the moment and may be worth considering instead of the Cervia C30 ones. The HK advert says they are 400mmx45mm. Item 320000104. I've ordered a set to try. Richard.
  20. Hi Max - looks a useful program. Club Secretaries/Treasurers often change at AGM's - can the membership data be exported/imported from the previous user to the next? Cheers, Richard
