  1. I think by the time that the prop/motor efficiency is taken into account, its actually about 120W/lb which is OK and should give good flight time on half throttle. I have tried to 'standardise' on my LiPo's but can always prop down. I'd rather have to much power than to little.
  2. So just as a further update to my previous post - the T67 is now finished with the pilot installed. The details of the power train and its results are as follows. It has an EMAX BL2832/05 motor installed, 4S 3600 30C LiPo, 80A ESC, 13*6.5 APCe prop, with an AUW of 2334gms. Using my wattmeter at full power it shows 14.23v, 52.3A, 753 Watts, hope this helps anyone who wants to build a BillKits Slingsby T67 Firefly electric conversion. Maiden flight to come.
  3. I have also added two access hatches on the underside. One for access to the nose wheel steering arm and the second just behind the nose wheel for access to the ESC. I have also made the front nose block detachable so that the motor mounting screws can be accessed.
  4. Just to update on he kit - my recently purchased kit does not have a FG cowl and also the canopy does not fit the cut out, and has been a real pain to fit, again this could have been my build error too. I think all the wheels are to small for a grass strip which I have also changed out
  5. Thanks Erfolg I will try 80mm. Alas I think I maybe already to late with flaps as I have already completed the wing. However I have installed a servo in each wing rather than the central servo method, so perhaps a retro fit after a few flights. I have also fitted a steerable nose wheel which seems ok but I used a 4mm nose leg as I think the supplied leg will not be up to the job on a 5lb model, and 3inch wheels for the grass strip. Now just waiting for the pilot to arrive and complete a full power test - I'll post the figures for those who maybe interested, although it does not seem to be a very popular model kit judging from responses so far.
  6. Just as an update to this thread , I am coming to the end of my Slingsby T67 Firefly electric conversion build and need a bit of information. Does anyone on the forum know what the CofG should be for this model, the instructions do not state a figure and only refer to an OS .40 and radio gear position placement to achieve the CofG. Many Thanks.
  7. I am about half way through a BillKits Slingsby T67 build -. but I'm putting off cutting the rather large canopy to as late as possible in the build as it looks a bit daunting.
  8. Just finished building the Musketeer converted for electric - yet to maiden though.

    Stand up too for me
  10. Just finished my Galaxy Models Musketeer, however unable to fly at the moment - so which model next !!
  11. I have used 30 min epoxy several times with rod/extenders and seems to work OK, just make sure surfaces are clean before applying epoxy
  12. Hi Erflog, I know that this is an old thread but can you remember what powertrain was used in the Slingsby., particularly the LiPo. Also can you remember if the wing is flat or does it have an amount of diehedral added. Looks a really interesting model - hope it flew well.
  13. Thanks KC for the info. Looks like an interesting candidate, but have to finish my Galaxy Musketeer first !!
  14. Hi DaveB1, Nice job, looks a really nice model. Could you supply some details of the powertrain used, LiPo/Motor/Esc Thanks
  15. Anybody done an electric conversion for the Galaxy Twin Hornet
  16. Great trainer, I passed my A test some time ago with this model, but it will take you well beyond the A test requirements, good in the wind and some spares available too, lots of fun. There are lots of threads and help on this forum with at least 2 good articles in RCM&E (March 2008 and Jan 2013). Mine is still used occasionally and has a 4S4000, 60A Esc, EnErG C4420, and 12*6 APC power train. I use velcro to hold the battery in place but have also made a hatch out of scrap plastic to cover the LiPo which is then velcroed to the fuselage with a couple of ducts cut out of the plastic cover - just for some airflow.
  17. Not sure if it has been done before, but could a field box be the subject of a future 'How To' article in RCM&E
  18. Perhaps a bit more 'rough and ready' but the replacement canopy for my Advance 25e, I have made from an Acetate sheet. Looks and works OK though.
  19. Hi Shaun I fly this model and is good fun. My setup is with and an E-Power GT2826/05 860KV brushless outrunner, JP EnErG Pro 60 SBEC, APC-E 12*6 prop and a Turnigy 4000mA 4S 30C Li Po.
  20. Neil/Nigel some further info. The AUW of my Acrowot is 2770 gms, a bit heavy perhaps but my skills are more of 'belt and braces' rather than a 'lightly engineered' model. I fly from a grass strip so have also fitted 3.5inch wheels. With a newish 5S4000 30C liPo charge to 20.99v on my wattmeter and after a full power static test ,my wattmeter records 19.27v, 61.5A and 1194.9watts. Also tried out of interest a 4S4000 30C and it records 42.5A , 663 watts with the same 14*7 prop. My TX timer is set to 5 mins for spirited flying and LiPo shows appx 30-35% left so with a bit of conservative throttle management probably get to around 7 mins with a little bit of spare - just depends upon how you like to fly.. Hope this helps.
  21. Hi Neil, Maidened my Acrowot kit build last week, had 3 flights so far and seems to go really well. I am using the 4-Max PO-5055-595 motor with a 14*7 prop and an 80A ESC and a 5S 4000 30C LiPo with plenty of room for upgrade to 6S if required. I decided to go with a top hatch entry for LiPo, which is held in place with Velcro straps. Great build log by the way. David Razor Plane and sandpaper does the job too.
  22. Hi oldgit, I had to make a new canopy for my Eflite Advance 25e out of an acetate sheet, after a rather heavy landing. Not sure if this helps but when I measured another sheet of the same, it was 0.15mm and weighs 11gms
  23. Great pictures and detail many thanks for your efforts - hope it all pays off on the next sortie !!
  24. Trevor, I for one would be interested in the issues you have found and your setup. Many thanks
