  1. Try using Cling Film to cover the plan. I find that parts don't stick to it easily.
  2. I agree with Daithi 100% and I've subscribed to the new AM as well. However the only use I would have for foam is for cushioning batteries and receivers.
  3. Sorry, one of those big capacitors should have been a big rectifier. PB, I've only been using mine for about fifteen years so its a bit soon to get all fancy with a case.
  4. PB, I didn't persevere when I saw the pulsing. I went back to my original power supply, built from mainframe computer parts. i.e. big transformer, big capacitor and big capacitor all nailed to a plank. Works perfectly and heats the workshop as well!
  5. I went the ATX PC Power Supply route some time ago. However I found that when I try to use it to charge LiPos the LEDs on the charger pulse rather than staying on solid. Any suggestions as to why this would be?
  6. Last I heard the first isuue had been put back by a month.
  7. In the past I have had many orders from HK all deliverd reasonably promptly. In my experience they are an excellent supplier, until something goes wrong. Back in 2008 I had a similar problem where a quite substantial package didn't arrive. While I am 99% certain that HK weren't to blame their response was very monotonous and frustrating. i.e. " If after three months you can provide evidence from the Post Office that your goods were not delivered then we will resend them".I promised that I would never use them agin and I didn't until I ordered a Flight Stabiliser a month or so ago. I will continue to use them only if I have to.
  8. Great minds Rentman! I have a Wren, courtesy of House of Frog, in exactly the same state as yours for the past six months. The rest of the parts are ready to go so maybe this will give me the necessary push. I hadn't considered fitting RC, so good luck with that.
  9. Posted by Phil B on 02/10/2012 05:48:53: Posted by Stephen Jones on 01/10/2012 21:20:38: Hi , I think which ever is the wining model chosen should be re published as a free plan . So as all who wish to take part can without having to buy a plan or at least those that are only vaguely thinking about it will have the plan to look over which may give them the added push to get involved . Besides i lost my plan of the mini Jazz . Yes very goog idea Or perhaps put it up as a downloadable image? Just a suggestion.
  10. The FROG "Wasp" here shoud be perfect. A great flyer.
  11. A few years ago I was lucky enough to visit the Smithsonian Institute. Not to be missed if you're in the area. The Spitit of St. Louis is on display there suspended from the ceiling. I got into conversation with one of the guides who told me that not long before his death, Lindberg himself arrived one day unannounced and said he wanted to sit in his cockpit. This being the USA a long ladder was sent for and the great man climbed up, unaided, and just sat there for the best part of an hour. Then he climbed down, bade them all good day and left.
  12. The very last thing we need are more reviews.
  13. I've tried cellulose thinners too without success. The cans seen to be printed rather than painted.
  14. I used beer cans successfully years ago for cowlings etc. Club Orange cans and the like end up a bit small when you take off the top and bottom. I scraped, stripped the paint from the outside and ended up with a nice clean piece if thin plate. However I tried it again recently and found that 1) for some reason the plate now creases very easily and 2) its almost impossible to remove the paint.
  15. Guys, this thread is starting to suffer from the modern tendency to over analyse everything and is straying from the original intent which was, I think, to record users experiences in testing. Its, as the name implies, a Flight Stabiliser not an Auto Pilot. Mine arrived on Friday and at some point I'll get around to sticking it in a well proven and trimmed model. I'm not the worlds greatest flyer so its simply a question of, does it make a difference? Yes, great, No bin it or try again. Modellers of even five years ago would have considered this module at this price as a significant step in RC.
  16. Sorry, I should have said where it was. I thought the files tab would stay open. Should have checked of course.
  17. I just noticed that the HK site now has the manual for the FY-20A here. I don't know how comparable they are.
  18. I've got quite a few pieces from Lidl/Aldi over the years, Bench Drill, Scroll Saw, Heat Gun etc. You get the picture. All excellent value for money. However I found the Soldering Gun to be completely useless. Just not enough heat. Its gathering dust somewhere under the bench, I think, haven't seen it for ages.
  19. I read a comment on another forum that this device will work only on a convential, rudder, elevator and aileron configuation. i.e. no elevons etc. Does anyone know if this is true? The bare board version covers a number of different options I think. Still waiting for mine to arrive.
  20. You could try this I wish someone would, I don't have the time for another project.
  21. I didn't know that the bare board version had these enhancements!! Seriously, if it's as good as is claimed I think its a remarkable piece of kit for the price.
  22. Ordered one immediately. They also have the Male to Male servo leads. So am I correct in thinking that if the engine stops, very unlikely I know, the model should safely fly itself onto, as opposed to into, the ground.
