I have similar problems and use a folding stool like this . I find that chair arms get in the way and if you ever make a mistake and get the plane behind you ( don't ask ) you can easily swivel around to keep an eye on it ,something impossible in a chair. I maybe should add that I fly from tarmac which provides a firm base which may not be available on grass.

I liked a good Abernethy but our local shops don't seem to do them any more! Lets blame the EU like everyone else.
