  1. Interested to hear recommendations as well...
  2. Spikey, just thinking aloud... make sure the writing on the prop is facing front. It makes a lot of difference, both with noise and performance. Dont ask how I know.......
  3. Being new to flying and electric, i thought it was me. It's a relief on one level to hear that others have experienced the same issues - at least 1 of my 1800 lipo's look as if they've had a double dose of Botex since using this charger Might have to save up for a multi charger
  4. Hi, I've had one of these chargers from Giant Shark for about 8 months or so, but I'm a bit confused about it. I have read the manual, and looked online, but... It has 5 settings for Lipo charging: Charge, Fast Charge, Balance, Storage and Discharge. If I select Charge, it will charge for 7-10 mins, bleep and return to the menu, but the battery is not charged. Fast charge and balance, similar. The only way to charge is to select Storage, at 1a and leave it on for a couple of hours, then select Charge to finish it off. I'm thinking this is not right! All the batteries are above 10v after use. Is this normal, or is maybe the software or something a bit screwy? Thanks
  5. There's a lot of user info on electric sailplanes here (is this OK mods?)
  6. If you're on Futaba and setting up a new model, I'm presuming you didnt reverse channel 3 before plugging it all together? Dont ask me how i know Edited By Mart49 on 18/07/2013 08:31:42
  7. "I also had a text from one of the girlfriends. I had forgotten her birthday." Hmmm, that will teach you not to be greedy
  8. Kevin, the link for the mentor over houses is **LINK**
  9. What would be nice, is at the top and bottom of each post, where is says "You need to login to post a reply" is for the word "login" to by hyperlinked to the login page. A "nice to have" feature.
  10. Maidened my WOT4 e on Friday, then flew it all over the weekend. I love it. Very docilce on low rates (everything set to 50%), but still enough for loops, inverted, rolls and stall turns. I ummed and erred between this and the Riot, but figuered that the price difference was 2 x 2200 3s Overlanders! The only upgrade so far are the 3" wheels as the playing fields are not the smoothest!

Thats interesting. I bought something from them at the Wings N Wheels, and it was faulty. Sent some emails about returning the item, and nothing. zero.
  12. Gee, I bought a Hawk Sky to learn on last year, and it has done me well. My main gripe is that it is too light, and it seems that we've had a constant wind since last October (well, near enough!) The Bixler and Easystar are good, as Chris points out. Good for over the playing fields, but only in light winds. The Seagull is better for more wind. I've just bought a WOT4 e for the best of both worlds, I hope!
  13. Well, I've just ordered a WOT4 e. After much deliberation, it came down to cost! The difference between the WOT and the Riot was 2 x 3s 2200 30c lipo's, which basically means more flying time. I've been help my mate learn to fly on his WOT4, and so I already know how good this plane is. I might set it up to be a little more sporty that his though.
  14. My delta 8 arrived yesterday (fresh batch in at T9 Hobbysport). Bound to my 6J and I'll take it to the field tonight for a range test and fly.
  15. Phoenix on HK still £55! The pnp version has just gone out of stock, but the kit is available for £40 if you have some spare servos and a motor!
  16. Posted by ken anderson. on 01/07/2013 20:03:24: when its esc decided to burn out Funny you should mention that, Ken. I'm teaching a friend to fly (even though I'm learning myself) and he has a new Wot4 e. On the first outing, I took off for him, he did some circuits and I landed it (a greaser actually). We gave it 15 mins to cool, although it didnt feel that warm, changed the batteries and I we did the same as before. The only difference being that on landing, the very last second it nosed over (no speed at all). When we came to use the third battery, it just bleeped, constanty. Could wiggle the controls but no motor. We went home, tried a different motor, and the same. Tried a different esc and all was back to normal. Anyway, he's taken the original 40amp esc bac to the shop, and has a new hobbywing 40amp on board.
  17. Well I'm umming and erring about what to buy. I've spent a year of so enjoying my easystar clone, my Phoenix 2k and a few scratchbuilt foam wings. I'm now thinking that i need to get my 'A' and I best get a "proper plane"! I had initially decided on an ST Models disco, but then over the weekend one of the trade stand guys thought it was a backward step and recommened the Max thrust riot. I note that quite a few on here are fond of their WOT4 e's and , having flown a friends' they do seem quite good fun. So, with a budget of up to £120, electric only, what would you recommend and why? 19. Posted by Tony Read on 29/06/2013 20:11:08: Very true, Peter. Old DB made me laugh when he said "he's half British everybody!" I did laugh, as after nearly every flight, he'd say "Another british man with a british plane" or something similar.
  20. Throughly enjoyed the day, as did the wife and kids. The Lightning was superb, as were the other jets. Great weather and even the trade tents MADE me spend some money
  21. Thanks. After posting on here, I discovered my mistake. Slightly cross, as I explained twice it was for a 6J
  22. Need some help... I've just returned from Wings N Wheels with a new FrSKY TFR6. I cant seem to get it to bind to my 6j, despite following the simple instructions. Am I missing something?
  23. That was a great flight - must have been a bit nerve racking, I know I panic when my glider gets to 1000' Mart
  24. I'm going to be there Saturday as we now have family stiff on the Sunday. Please feel free to say HI - I'll have the wife, 2 kids and a border terrier with me!!
