  1. Perhaps this helps. It's from the BMFA Guidance notes that Bob referred to. Electric Powered Glider The test can be performed with virtually any Electric Powered Glider model, but not an Electric Powered Sports model as the Powered Flight 'A' Certificate would be more appropriate to that type of model. " Unpowered Glider The test can be performed with virtually any Thermal Soaring Glider model and launch may be by Hand Tow, Bungee, Winch, Hand Launch or Aero-Tow. The test will not be taken with electric powered gliders Whatever model is brought by the candidate, it must be suitable to fly the manoeuvres required by the test they are taking.
  2. I use them when I visit Singapore. Very helpful and friendly service. They have also sent me a few things through the post and I had no problems.
  3. Does this help? From the "Experts" **LINK**

    Which type

No the pump is a sealed unit but try Tower Hobbies in the US . A PD08 pump is a direct replacement for the older PD07 and needs no modification. Even with shipping and VAT I have found them normally to be cheaper than RipMax (and they are likely to have them in stock). If you want more info PM me and I can talk at length about OS pumps.

    Which type

It's on the back of the pump.

    Which type

OS did appear to have some problems with the rubber material used in both the pumps and regulators but have now revised the material spec and overcome the problems. If buying new make sure the pump is a "PD08" version as fitted certainly to the 200 and 155 models. When operated correctly they are superb engines but unfortunately too many people don't or won't take the time to learn how best to operate them but that's just my opinion.
  7. Plastic embrittlement. The V&A museum in London is suffering from this problem on a number of their exhibits and are researching the problem. As far as I am aware they have not found a solution but have seen 3 distinct types of failure: Crazing/cracking, oily deposits on the surface and crumbling into a silvery looking dust. One view is that the plasticisers are leaching out of the materials but I'm not sure they fully understand why. I'm sure there are more scientific descriptions but you get the picture.
  8. Sundeala Board also known as K quality hardboard.
  9. +1 for Cyclon batteries. They last for years. I think the £8.79 one was probably 2.5aH which is ample capacity.
  10. Seriously the minimum you need is a 2.5 mAh Cyclon cell and a plug lead. The ammeter is useful to check whether the plug has blown. I have never needed to regulate the current or in fact, seen the need. I have also never blown a plug using the 2v Cyclon direct through a normal plug lead. Keep it simple.
  11. Use a Cyclon cell, an ammeter and a glow plug lead. Job done.
  12. I certainly would never use a vacuum formed spinner for anything other than static display.
  13. Paul, Bert was asking about DMSS which is exclusively JR and is not compatible with Spektrum .
  14. No. For DMSS you need an XG series of Tx. The DSX9 is DSM2.

    Glow Stick

Cyclon can be used any way that takes your fancy.
  16. In my opinion, yes. It makes it deeper. Not necessarily a lot quieter but it sounds "nicer".
  17. I'm using a TurboHeader silencer from Just Engines on an OS 200FS P. Small silencer but very effective.
  18. No. It will increase by the % increase of the new engine multiplied by the % that the original engine was of the overall weight. e.g Original wing area 100sq." original weight 100oz.Original engine 20oz( 20% of o/a weight) Wing loading = 1.0 oz/sq" New engine 30oz. New weight 110oz , New wing loading =1.1 oz/sq". i.e 10% increase. Engine weight increase % x original engine % = 50&x20% =10%. I'm sure there's a better way of explaining it but I hope the above helps.
  19. No wonder you used an immersion heater switch! You could run some space heaters from that for your club strip.
  20. +1 for the Cyclon 2v battery. (I think it's 2.5A not 25) They certainly last. I have only had 4 in nearly 40 years of flying.
  21. Stevo, I only have the 120 size Dubro Quiet mounts ( Cat # 688) which measure a fraction over 3" from the front face of the washer to the end of the arm. Hope this helps.
  22. Just Engines have something similar.
  23. None of the dope (butyrate or nitrate) that I have ever used has been glow fuelproof.
