Thanks for that. The throttle stick adjustment is a little vague, but I think one needs the transmitter in one's hand & it will become clear Regards Sam L

I am about to buy one of the above transmitters. However, stockists seem to have only mode 2 in stock. Going on line suggests that one can change mode within the software similar to the way I can with my existing (horrid user unfriendly) Futaba 14sg. Trouble is that it is not just software that needs changing. The springs in the gimbals have to be altered. I know that the face of the gimbals can come off when changing gimbals . My question is- can one access the springs in the throttles easily when changing modes or is it best to order mode 1 from the start & wear the wait for the right model?

Thanks Ron I have ordered it tonight Regards Sam L

My Futaba 14sg has throttle cut option. However, I did post on this forum some time ago that I could not set it up. In spite of several replies I still have not succeeded In fact I made a right mess of the particular plane setup. In the end I took a copy of a plane that did work ok & copied it over on to the new one . The last thing I intend to do is try & set up throttle cut with this new model. especially as it is my first electric one. I do not really want to start opening the hatch & unplugging the deans connector. It is a Kaos ultimate & i wanted to fit a nice tidy switch on the side. So far the closes is the xt 60 arming plug. This is priced in $ so i am guessing supply problems - Can it be obtained in the UK? I have not researched that one yet. I suppose the real answer is to ditch this useless Futaba radio- I hate it

Is there a switch that can be used between the 6s lipo & the ESC? I want to be able to Isolate it whilst I walk to the flying area as I have a walking problem & worried that I may catch the throttle on the radio. I would like to get on the field then power up to fly. Thanks

I was not there for the event. But one offs get organised in a proper way, rather than randomly. For instance we do have a training area to one side of the main field, for helis & they can fly any time (1 at a time)They stay quite low being trained or tested etc. But if someone wants to fly a heli on the main field, the fixed wing boys normally land whilst they fly. It is only for 10 mins & we are all pretty relaxed about it. No one wants to hit a £3K heli with a £1K fixed wing when landing etc Collisions do happen. I have had 2 mid airs with fixed wing & one was with the club instructor who was buddying a trainee.. Both times only 2 of us flying!!!. I have even been hit by another plane landing whilst taxiing off the field.

DIY ( external ) Lipo to ESC killers

At our club, most of the benches have 2 vertical posts one end. One puts the wing against the post with the fuselage in the middle. Any mistake with the throttle just means a chopped off finger for the miscreant, rather than a torpedo across the pits area.🙃 -
Fit a streamer off one wing, or off the tail. Shows up better in a group of planes. However, our club rules are max 4 in the air at a time. Seems to me a sensible rule, as it is easy to get distracted.

Try these people https://www.capitalcrispin.com/ I have been close friends of the Crispin family for many years & they are experts in the veneer trade

I ordered a plan for a Kaos 60 from Aerofred which arrived today. Unfortunately i took the small scal drawing as "indicative" & did not realise that it would not have the wing ribs drawn. Plans from Outerzone etc do show them, but I get regular emails from Aerofred so gave it a shot. So now I have a drawing that shows the rib positions & the root, but not the sections & the all important tip. I have no idea if the cord changes-ie I have just finished an Avanti F3 pattern plane where the chord depth changes from 18.5% to 17%. I do not know if washout applies It is a nuisance as cutouts for undercarriage etc would not be available, if I just sanded across a block from one end to the other So my question is this. Can anyone please either direct me to a free source or email me a full sized section of a tip rib for a Kaos 60 so I can cut a foam core.Or better still- all of them. To avoid emails on the public forum perhaps PM me first It would be much apreciated Sam Longley

Rib Plotting by Computer

To calculate ribs at any point in a wing try this. Download a copy of Freecad CAD software. Takes a little while to learn the basics, but there are loads of vids on it & you do not have to learn everything. Draw the ribs at the root & tip, along with the holes & spar slots. Set them at the correct distance for wing half span & loft between the two. Cut the loft with planes at each rib & you will get a perfect cross section at each rib. I do have Alibre Atom which I paid for but I had spent some time with Freecad which is pretty easy & fun to learn whilst between TV programs. -
When you were there you should have got yourself a cheap roach pole. Great for getting foamies out of trees😀

I would rather not go down that route. He is useful to the club bringing in new members & is very popular. He is an asset that we would not wish to be without & I cannot fault his method of instruction, albeit sometimes taking a long time. That may be due to the trainee But someone who has had lesson & passes a test with him will be competent. What is better? Someone who cannot fly properly & is a danger to themself & others, or someone who is really competent to fly on their own?

It is a good flying club, with really helpful, friendly members. The instructor is a BMFA chief examiner & 2-3 days a week instructing is his income. Lessons are 1 hour broken into 3 -20minute sessions. There is a break in between whilst others fly. That works very well. He also does helicopter lessons on same basis at £35-00 per hour. He decides when one is fit to take the test & will not do so untill he says so
