  1. As the initiator of this thread maybe I could have the final word. Firstly thanks to the mods for reopening funnies, it seems I wasn't the only one upset by its closure . Secondly I would like to apologize to anyone who may have been offended by my comments but I stand by my thoughts that the mag does seem to spend an inordinate amount of time looking backwards, was it not Stephen Hawking who said remember to look up at the stars not down at your feet Thirdly ,no I've not had a post rejected by the moderator's. Fourth I hope we don't regard anyone who has not contributed to the mag since 2019 as being unworthy of commenting, because that implies hundreds or maybe even thousands of readers are also unworthy. I look forward to having a smile again! Kevin Lane.
  2. Well political correctness raises it's ugly head yet again, because a few dour faced individuals think they have the right to tell us what is good for us. I cannot believe that these people keep trying to drag us back into the 1900s and they are obviously being allowed to succeed, one only has to look at the current editorial content. Old models, old shows, old photographs. Sorry at the age of 73 I would rather look to the future instead of some rose tinted vision of the past. Well you've closed down funnies and in so doing you've also closed down my subscription. Goodbye RCME. Kevin Lane.
  3. A much cheaper option is gorilla wood glue. The foam will break before the glue let's go + it's safe to handle after 30 minutes but better left for 24 hrs.
  4. Zulu slope wing £4055.55 covering must be real gold leaf! Form an orderly queue please. Edited By kevin lane on 31/10/2016 00:44:58
  5. Similar true story happened to me many years ago whilst working in a local school. I had taken Derek and John to collect some large triangular stage blocks from another local school. We got them back in the trailer and started unloading, Derek a farmers son who thought he knew everything was complaining about how far he had to carry them. I left them whilst I made a drink in the staffroom just 20 ft away with a warning not to unhook the trailer. Suddenly Derek knocked on the door and when I opened it was leaning nonchalantly on the frame. Yes Derek says I. Blocks Ave fell off says Derek with his pronounced stutter. Have you unhitched the trailer? I asked yyyeesss replies Derek sheepishly. Well get John to help you pick them up. He ccc aaaa nnnn ttt sir. Why where has he gone? He's under um.
  6. Bruce, might I suggest a search for painless360 on YouTube where you will find lots of Taranis tips often with explanations a lot easier to understand than some of Scott Pages. Kevin.
  7. Geoff, search you tube for painless360 gives a good explanation of the ! function plus lots of other Taranis tips. Unfortunately RCMEs text box won't let me insert the URL. Kevin
  8. I have very few problems but I do transfer the glue to a bottle with a very fine nozzle. I make lots of foam jets with the long pointed fuselage made up of about 6/8 sections glued on the 6mm edge. I find the blue low tack masking tape provides adequate hold
  9. Very similar but to my mind a lot less messy than GG . Providing its used sparingly it will just leave a feint line where it foams, it can also be used as a contact adhesive if you let it dry a few minutes before assembly.
  10. Lumberjack adhesive from Toolstation, it dries in 5 minutes with just a little foaming. only problem you have to buy 1 litre. Kevin.
  11. Story of my life, got a new laptop 3 months ago with W8.1 absolutely hate it. No offer of a free upgrade!
  12. Thanks Ted,I did a lot of reading on RC groups where its passing was mourned! I never realised production had restarted. Must say I'm delighted and will be saving for the new version(just in case).I did notice that the motor size has changed from the supplied original which was a C28/29 to a recommended C28/20. I know from experience that the 28/29 is impossible to get hold of. David have a search on both You tube and RC groups you'll find heaps of information. Kevin
  13. I bought a samurai about 4 months ago from a fellow club member and must admit after the first flight it immediately became my favourite plane! I'm a little confused as to where you are going to find one, E scale stopped production about 4 years ago but if you can find one you will find them very highly regarded. I certainly wouldn't sell mine for twice the price I paid. .Be aware that the esc/ motor can burn out if you attempt to use 3s batteries. (ask me how I know) Kevin.
  14. Thanks everyone, I realised that I had seen the recommendations on fossys website but I had been using my tablet lately and electric alterations don't show up due to the site not being enabled for android. Kevin.
  15. Thanks cymaz. I will have a look at that idea! Kevin
  16. Hi guys, having successfully converted and flown a Wot trainer to electric power I thought I would have a go at a Wot 4 classic. I know others have converted many wottys but where does the battery go and how? Looking at it I can only presume the wing needs to be removed for every battery change which is a bit of a pain, has anyone got an easier method? Thanks in advance Kevin.
  17. Hi guy's just Google Depron UK they manafacture and .deliver full size sheets in all thicknesses
  18. Hi guys surprised no one has mentioned Lumberjack PVA adhesive for both timber and foam very similar to gorilla glue but sets in 5 minutes with only a little foaming, problem is you have to by a litre for around £10 from Toolstation.
  19. A shaggy turkey story The newly wed husband arrives home from work to his beautiful garland and light bedecked house. He enters the kitchen to find a scene of utter devastation. Feathers cover the room whilst blood and entrails drip from every surface. His gorgeous wife is sat at the table covered in blood and sobbing, my precious, he cries whatever is wrong? Between huge sobs she says I'm so sorry its that fresh turkey you bought for Christmas, I've done just what you said. I've plucked it sob, I've drawn it sob, I've stuffed it wail. But I'm sorry I just can't bring myself to kill it.
  20. My proud boast, 67 years on this planet and never attended or watched a game of football!!!!!
