Cutting a motor shaft to shorten it.
dave parnham replied to Bill Wood's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
i have a J perkins JPS3 Racer and that is exactly what it says to do in the Manual, i was reluctant to do it, but cut it anyway with a dremel and have had no problems with the motor at all. Dave P -
Didnt tell you anything in my opinion, makes you wonder how a sucessful company turning out such popular models just stops!! No real explanation or anything, of course its not really our business i guess, but if that had been me id like to think id have had the biggest show tent at Weston Park and be selling britains finest and latest models.....hey ho.

Which 1/4 Scale WW1 Kit to Choose?
dave parnham replied to payneib's topic in Scale and Semi-Scale kits
Balsa usa do an Eindecker 90 which presumably refers to 90FS its an 80 inch wingspan and alot of builders put 20cc DLe petrols in them which obviously doesnt sound right but fly very reliably. I have a half built one in the Ops Room which i must get finished. -
Can i ask how you fixed the main cabane struts in place? The plan and instructions are obviously 70s and they just glue them in permanently. Whislt im tempted to do just that coz its been sitting around a few years now. Curious to know how yours were done. cheers dave.

dave parnham replied to Rocker's topic in Shows, Club Events and Competitions
Have to agree with you on the Smoking and Vaping thing i get steamed up about that in a big way, i dont want to smell or inhale any of that muck, and it should be banned at the gate, or they go in an enclosure Down wind of everybody else. -
Best Engine for Flair Tiger Moth
dave parnham replied to Canberratt18's topic in All Things Model Flying
The Tigermoth in my profile Picture started life with a 150 for the terrible maiden, but i think the wheels were a little stiff with paint but once airbourne you could see it was struggling.....changed to a 180 for a miraculous change in performance. -

You should have Stayed that was the only major rain shower, great day had and made us laugh when the three full size extras were preforming in bright sunshine around 2.15 pm it suddenly Hailed and then one rumble of Thunder but that was it. Glad we went and spent over 200 myself and my brother brought a 60inch extra from OMP -

i would have thought a light grey undercoat under the yellow should do it so hopefully just two coats. -
Old Warden Modelair days !8th and 19th May
dave parnham replied to kc's topic in All Things Model Flying
*Entry To The Event Is FREE But Access To The Shuttleworth Collection And Gardens Is Still Charged But With Concessions For BMFA Members Please Follow The Link Below For Tickets Depends on how you interpret the website i guess, perhaps its just me. If you need the loo the block in between the hangers is available but i always wandered around the hangers afterwards, does this mean then you have to go to the front shop and buy entry to the museum? (or buy both at the gate i suppose) -

The Green topped one looks like a Flair kit to me. The puppeteer?

All four servos are indentical make and theres nothing wrong with Hitecs i think im using, would need to strip the wing to double check or find the manual. Its a kit so the horns are exactly where they should be close to hinge line all at the same distance. Ailerons all same thickness. Tx shows all throws on the trims are zero. As mentioned there maybe some subtrim adjustments in there to align the ailerons at neutral but not a lot. i will get it sorted thanks gents
