  1. Hi everyone, I've decided i'm fed up flying alone. Earlier this year i sold a few large scale aircraft and began to fly 450 size heli's and have a Jet Ranger build on the table! I'm now living in a sleepy little village called Evanton. I've heard there is a local flying club though can neither find it online nor in person. Is there anyone on here that is a member or can put me in touch with someone Kind Regards Scott
  2. Hi Chris Theres a few of these at our club and often its the motors failing. The esc's are normally integrated into the main board too meaning that it can be too costly to replace and far checheaper to buy a whole new quad Regards Scott
  3. Hi there, Absolutely perfect! Re-binded and set up, everything works as it should and most of all i can have no assists and no SAFE! I had tried a helifreaks tutorial though they said my old Hp6dsm wasn't compatible. You've proven them wrong. Thanks Scott
  4. Hi everyone i have successfully binded my little Blade 120s to a Blade Sr HP6DSM transmitter. Everything is working though its stuck on the beginner mode of the three modes. I dont know how to get out of this setting onto the no bank angle mode 😞 Any help would be fantastic Kind Regards Scott
  5. Hi everyone, I've been away for a few months and moved to Evanton near Inverness to be with my new gf and her children. Im looking for a flying club. Would prefer somewhere with tarmac and 75ft plus for my jets though short maintained grass would do for the moment. Also heli friendly would be beneficial to me.   6. If it wasn't bad enough seeing what the poor residents in Cumbria where battling. Now the Foss dam has been forced to open and York is now flooding. Every year we keep hearing plans for new better flood defense systems. I sure hope everyone is ok and hasn't lost everything.And to any modellers down there best wishes
  7. Thanks Frank, Yes a robust tow release is in plans, awaiting arrival then I'll post a few photos of unboxing. I plan to make a slow and steady build of her with the cockpit becoming the final build. Will post a build blog when she arrives Thanks Scott
  8. Ok so after a few days waiting with my Bird of time I decided to go for it and my how pleased I was too! It flew in a very scale like manner and was a delight for some DS flying! Upon landing it literally floated in. Ok so after 3 flights of 15-20 on timer I went home. My love for large scale came swooping in again. I love my 1/3 cub, TN Lancaster, and 1/3 Piper Pawnee Though I feel the bird of time although good to practice with its not for me in terms of scale details like cockpit and looks in the sky I've ordered a FlyFly DG808 4 metre and hope for its arrival by Thursday! Has anyone seen one in person or have any advice towards it? I plan to hinge the canopy and add more fibreglass to the inside of the cockpit area and change the plastic wheel to a retract unit. These are recommendations that I can find from Google I'm now in love with slope soaring and what a lovely sound wings give off! Any advice is welcome Regards Scott

  13. Hi all I've decided I want to try slope soaring. Something more laid back than the large scale I've been flying for a couple of years now. I've just received my lovely ARF bird of time and a lightweight deck chair! My setup is Hitec Optic 6 tx and RX, Hitec Hs55 elevator and Futaba S3004 rudder. Now though I'm not sure about a battery. I was planning on a simple nicd or even use the standard receiver 4x AA pack if that's possible. I can't see the servos pulling too much power though I hope someone can help recommend something suitable. Thanks Scott
  14. We have strange white 4 legged fluffy things that keep it short. Amazingly the same spot over and over though I recently bought a cheap sovereign lawnmower and tidied it up as from the pilot area it's difficult to see the smooth areas
  15. Hi Propprop! Welcome to the forum. If you're both looking for a nice beginner friendly kit Westwings do a few nice aircraft. There's the Beguine which is a sturdy little slow flier then the fantastic and very easy to build Orion-E. Both are cheap and the kits are very good. You'll need a transmitter, receiver, motor & prop. Two micro servos, battery and charger. As these are very simple models you won't require any fancy radio system. Altogether either could be flying with as little as ?120. Though really depends on your transmitter and receiver choice. One other thing I forgot was covering. I prefer iron on though that was my grandpa's preference. There's sticky backed film too. I'm sure there will be alot of other recommendations to, Good luck and happy building/flying Scott
  16. Indeed Learning to fly alone is possible. Especially with all the latest gizmos attached. The issue is.... In no time you will be bored flying on your own and throwing loops and rolls etc etc.. You'll go along to a club and oh no you're flying isn't good anymore, you'll find yourself breaking all sorts of rules and unable to keep a circuit with other pilots. I believe in the old fashioned way and that's go to a club, learn the proper way and then if you want you can fly on your own but at least you'll also have a welcoming club to fall back on for support and friends! It's like learning to drive a car. You learn the proven way and then you're let loose having the concrete knowledge plumbed in. Good luck Regards ScottEdited By scott finnie on 29/11/2015 14:15:12

  18. Hi all I'm looking for a nice new edf for a change and have seen the TAFT viper for £320 PNP. Has anyone flown one before or seen one in the Air? There's not many YouTube videos but it does look nice. Thanks Scott
  19. A better wing section to make her float and it would be a perfect throw in the boot Lancaster. It looks like it needs to be kept going excessively fast to avoid disaster. Shame as it looks great

    Back!

    Hi all. Where do I start. What a year it has been, break up with wife, divorce and then the last few weeks in hospital with a vicious little lump affecting my stomach. Just home and Hopefully fly my TN Lancaster once this weather settles. Has only had a few taxi runs and fine tuning. Theselarge scale aircraft have really got the hold of me, I feel they are solid in the air and suits my flying scale flying style better. I did go for a maiden but eased off as one engine began running rough or was it in my mind haha. Anyways its good to be back. Scott
  23. Hi all I'm back , I'm currently moving from Edinburgh to Bracknell after my devastating divorce. Sadly during the time we where apart alot of my hangar had been broken up or sold on. Now though a clean slate in England. Can anyone recommend a nice flying club. Been a long long time and happy to be back , now I can have as big a hangar as I want Kind Regards Scott
