  1. I was in 2524 Oakington Sqn back in the 80's and 90's, i was the chief radio operator here's a pic of myself at our radio set. Removed from a Lancaster as i was told.
  2. That's Ok, to b honest i'm still learning about the electric side of modeling but i cannot see why an electric conversion wouldn't work. There's plenty of room up front for batteries which would help with cog as she's got a very short nose on her.
  3. Oh by the way i have a pic of her nude in my albums if you wish to have a look.
  4. Hi bees, i still have a DB Tripehound still to be refurbished. I flew it back in 1993 but the power plant was way too much for it, then i put a Saito 80 in when i did the maiden it went vertical :-0. 1/4 throttle was all that was needed to fly with the Saito. But i also discovered that i had introduced a warp it the wings when covering so after 13 flights i retired her for refurbisment no crashes by the way but very prone to noseing over if not v careful. Whilst in the air and reasonable trimmed she flew really nice and certainly looked the part. When i get round to it i will finish the covering being nylon and dope this time as last time it was covered in Solartex which i didn't do very well in hindsight..
  5. They are definitely long lasting I'm still running my ss40's from back in the early 80's, back then bought from Inwoods.
  6. Sorry me again regarding the engine mount i'm only able to find glass/nylon mounts up to 120 size if this is what is being used i do have a set of 120 t mounts glass/nylon. If not suitable any suggestions as to where i could get them for would be much appreciated. Colin Edited By funflyerColin on 04/07/2016 23:06:22
  7. Hello thanks for sharing Chris and for Mr Miller with the explanation on how, it will help me no end with my scheme not sure when i will get round to finishing it though. Antique white with dark green this is the intended scheme on the full size i am going to attempt.   Thanks again Colin Edited By funflyerColin on 04/07/2016 22:19:39
  8. Very nice Chris that's very simular to the scheme i have chosen for my 1/4 scale Stampe but not keen on doing the scallops. Please tell. Colin
  9. Hello all thanks for the advice, i started flying back in the early 80's and never used a tacho. All my engines were 2 strokes with the exception of a saito 80 which was when i bought a tacho, as i found it to be a bit of a help getting the top end tuned in not being used to 4 strokes only had 13 flights with it before selling it. So have limited experience with 4 strokes, i will heed what you say and tune by ear. I'm afraid it didn't fly on this occassion as i want to get used to the engine plus also that i have the ail and flap extensions to connect up and also try to get the COG better. There was nooo way that this would have flown if i took notice of the sellers ad that said just add reciever and fly, well it may have done but would have been scattered across the field. COG was 50% of the wing cord and the aileron servos bounced before stopping at any point. I will also take your advice and replace the engine mount, thanks. I'm taking a bit of time over this as is my first large scale plane and i want to get things right, most of my collection are 40 size. Sorry for the long winded and slightly of topic reply but will take on board what you guys have said thanks very much. Regards Colin
  10. Hi all had a go at setting a Laser 150 up for the first time hopefully i followed jon's advice. I got a tickover of about 22-2400rpm and high end of about 74-7600rpm, prop for now is a graupner 16x8. I think i may get away with an APC 17x6 our field is a bit rough though.
  11. Hello Jon spoke to you at the show about my laser 150 thanks again for the great advice. Watched you fly your Stampe very nice it looks to ( note to self must find time to get mine sorted ). Here's a couple of pics hope it is yours.
