  1. On the bench, switching between cell counts it does make it look like the servos are quite slow on 1s, but you quickly get used to the 1s to the point where they still look pretty zippy. In the air you notice zero difference, the KST X08 on 1s is plenty powerful enough and fast enough for dlg. Jespers program is the best! Once you get your head around it, it's very simple to set up. All the best with your Snipe, will always be the best dlg out there despite how things progress and whatever new and improved planes come out, the good old Snipe will never be beaten IMO.
  2. I was a 2s fan for a while and used the same 2s 300 packs, but once I went 1s never looked back. If you stop flying at 3.7v you are totally safe. I think you’re on Frsky now right? All their dlg sized rx’s are great on 1s, heck even Spektrum is, lol.
  3. I haven’t flown the Snipe 2 but with regular snipe and Snipe SN a gumstick 1s 600 would lay flat on top of the servos and the nose cone would clear it. Take a look at the Giant Power lipos, found at component shop, the 1s 380 works great if you have to go smaller in battery size, still easily get a hour run time with the 4 kst 08 and a telemetry rx. Don’t chase weight, it’s pointless, if you need nose weight then add it (tungsten putty is great) your plane will fly the same whether it’s 220 grams or 240 grams, especially in good old Blighty weather. In fact 240g is/was my favourite weight ( I don’t fly anymore but still check the forums now and then )
  4. I’ve owned a few snipes and always use KST X08 servos. Just glue them down with thick CA or the Gel CA from Gorilla Glue, rough up both the servo case and the carbon first. Holds very well but still easy enough to pop off if you ever have to replace a servo.
  5. Definitely some confusion here cause the title states ar400 & 600, both of these rx’s only have failsafe on the throttle channel. For the newer 410 and 620, update your transmitter and you go into forward programming and set custom failsafe positions for every channel there. I was never successful trying to get preset failsafe to work following the manual, so if you have older radios like the DX6i you may be stuck with just smartsafe again.  Edited By I_AM_MARKEVANS on 15/07/2020 09:39:08
  6. I believe currently they are still working on the V2 firmware for the S6R and S8R so you are best staying on V1 that you are already flying on. The unwanted servo movement bug present in V1 is very rare, personally I am still flying on V1 and have no intention of upgrading. I have seen enough issues over on RCG with them trying to iron out all the bugs and issues with the V2 firmware in the rx's like the G-RX8 and even the RX4&6R that I feel its more stable on V1 with the known bug than it is on V2. At the end of the year or early next year once the new Archer rx's have been out, tested and are stable will I swap over to the ACCESS version of the X9D+ Edited By I_AM_MARKEVANS on 07/06/2020 12:14:06
  7. ACCST V1 is still on the Frsky website. In whichever download section you are in, scroll down and you will see a history section, hover over the word download and click. You will get the last and latest version of V1 for whichever product page you are on. The download file will contain both FCC and EU LBT. Edited By I_AM_MARKEVANS on 31/05/2020 19:41:57
  8. Nice one Tim, great tests! To put my mind at rest, my own personal opinion is that the new hardware, like the ACCESS radios could be the culprit when trying to use them for ACCST D16 with V2.1 If you have ACCST native radio, before they brought out the ACCESS and Express flavours then like your own tests, I’m starting to see a lot of good working equipment on the updated V2.1 firmware. Thanks again!
  9. They did introduce new beta fw to correct the vario issue but it looks like on GitHub Frsky have yet to comment on the failsafe issue the users on RCG are experiencing. Users like Landru are experiencing multiple failsafes while bench testing the G-RX8 on ACCST 2.1. But like you said, there is now a lot of posts to read through, but it looks like the testing is still ongoing so you can read back a few pages from the end and not have to read from the beginning. Although if you haven’t experienced anything yourself then it may be hit or miss.
  10. There's a lot of posts but it seems the G-RX8 in particular is still suffering from failsafes on ACCST 2.1 during bench testing. Although I think a lot of the guys on RCG are now trying to test the other rx's in the range so there's a lot of posts to wade through. I find it difficult to keep up with what's going on but it seems at present, testing is still ongoing. the last update to the beta firmware for the G-RX8 was 3 days ago.
  11. Hi Tim, I'm guessing you saw non of the issues on ACCST V2.1 for the G-RX8 that the guys on RCG are seeing?
  12. Thanks bob, It does seem there are less issues using the new radios in ACCESS rather than ACCST, and that is a good question, but one I also won't ask on RCG lol. I think it looks like if you already have a pre 2019 Taranis then it looks like you are better off staying on ACCST V1 where there were a lot less issues and not many cases of the USM bug.  Edited By I_AM_MARKEVANS on 15/05/2020 11:20:35
  13. Thanks guys, The issue I'm seeing on RCG with G-RX8 though is extremely high frame losses and numerous failsafes, this in turn has turned the conversation into frequency matching and other things. I would have assumed that those new series of rx's, the G-RX6&8 and the RX4&6R would all have the same RF front end so not sure why only the G-RX8 is the culprit with all the problems at the moment. If someone was coming coming into Frsky today or needed a new tx, then the newer ACCESS version is pretty much their only choice along with the latest rx's, so the older equipment like V and D series isn't an option and can't be used with the new radios anyway. The one I don't get, is in the tests the one guy did, his test equipment and logging reported numerous failsafes yet he says he didn't notice some of them in flight? how is that possible? I only fly sailplanes but I'm sure even with these I'd notice a failsafe, more so since my FS settings are to go to full flaps. Basically I was gonna move to back to the newer 2019 ACCESS X9D+ with either some G-RX6 or RX6R rx's but all that talk on RCG has me very nervous as the new gear seems hit or miss at the moment. 14. It’s been a long time since I logged into this forum but I was gonna come and ask about those RCG tests. The issue I see is we have always thought the Frsky link was ‘rock solid’ but we have never really known what was going on behind the scenes. The tests they are doing are showing up things like 9 thousand frame losses on a test stand during an hours test, that’s absolutely shocking. Say what you will about Spektrum but flying my dlg for an hour and landing out in long grass multiple times only ever got me a max of 1K. Maybe all the Frsky equipment over the years has performed this poorly but we’ve never known cause frame losses has never been tested? It might have provided bigger ranges over other brands but what’s the point when the link looks like it’s always been patchy at best?
  15. I'm seeing posts dated yesterday and talk of still sending Spektrum gear to Germany for service. This is no longer the case, Logic RC handles all service and repairs now, they have ex Spektrum/HH guys working there and they are pretty quick to respond to emails. I'm sure most of you know, but after seeing the above posts I just thought I'd post. Mark
  16. For anyone that hasn't heard or noticed, Al's Hobbies are now official Spektrum service agents.
  17. If what Mike Healy says is true, and it's the same shop I'm thinking of, and the same shop that someone on rc groups predicted would get all the servicing, it would be kinda funny as the rumour was quashed and the poster made to look daft by Andy Kunz on the thread.
  18. I asked the same question on their Instagram account, why they are bringing Parkzone back. They said it never went away because the Sport Cub is still available under that banner, and i asked then why did they bring some of the models out under the Eflite brand like the Radian + Visionaire if the brand never went away. Strange one. I couldn't resist the new Torrent 110 also and had to order if off the new website. It was showing in stock when i grabbed one then was back unavailable a few hours later. No email on shipping status so guess i gotta play the game now and wait to see if i got one or not.
  19. Good point Dave, nothing to do with them moving to Germany or Brexit or anything else people may come up with. Just what they seem to have made with the whole situation and total lack of confidence in them now they seem to have gone very quiet with regards support etc. If they didn't or don't want to deal with the repairs etc and all that side of it, they should have put one or 2 employees into some of the UK stores that still carry HH stuff and had a service centre there for people to send their stuff too. Turn around on repairs etc may have been longer but better to deal with someone in the UK and even face to face if you lived near a store rather than how things are now. I can't say i've ever needed HH support, but at least it was nice to know it was there before, and i hope it comes back and they get everything sorted like they said they would in that FB post. 20. Without taking this off topic, that's also where i'm at. I love my DX9 and and have flown Spektrum since the DX6i, but for various reasons i now also have the Taranis (2nd one actually) and have finally got my head around the programming. I too don't like having to buy that cable, and when/if a firmware fix ever gets released to fix the 11ms bug in the new telemetry rx's, i find it a complete joke that we have to buy that cable to program them to fix a problem for Spektrum. Also the cost of a rx+vario with Frsky is hell of a lot less than it would currently cost to buy the same Spektrum set up if i were fitting out a new sailplane and wanted all the telemetry. I honestly can't see the prices dropping either so i'm at a point now where i need to decide whether to take the Frsky path or stick with Spektrum. Both are lovely radios and it's a tough decision to make to move away from something you have used a while and are comfortable with. Silly really when we're just dealing with toy planes =)
  21. Joking aside, do people still see Spektrum having a market in the UK moving forward or do you think this could be the beginning of the end? Cause I do have a DX9 to get rid of and various Spektrum rx's if the future is looking bleak, I don't want to hold onto them until it's too late.
  22. I think the 'something big is coming' teaser posts were just about the new website and the unboxing live videos on the 6th April from the show. Although they were still only spoken in German. Even the Germans themselves are giving HH Europe a hard time on the FB pags, not just us then! haha In other news, anyone wanna buy a 'like new' DX9 Black in the case, gotta get rid quick before they are worthless.....lol.
  23. Something else i don't get, if the new dot EU website is meant to cater for us all now, then how come all their videos they are putting out are still spoken in German? It's basically still just Staufenbiel but with a new website and a HH banner, even the 'Unboxing live' videos are/were a Staufenbiel thing and not a HH one, right? The prices on everything have gone insane too, i really liked the look of the new Torrent 110 quad but at £180?....no thanks. I actually though some of the new prices were actually a April fools day joke. I used to be a HH fan boy but i've nearly sold off all my planes branded by them and recently picked up a Taranis in case my DX9 goes the same way (in fact it hasn't been out the case since i got the Taranis) I fear for those UK stores that are predominantly Horzion stockists. I think i'm out.
  24. I thought Staufenbiel were the one's who bought into HH and not the other way around? Either way like everyone says, the new site is just a huge revamped online store with no where to go for service or customer care. The pricing is all messed up for sure, more so in the UK, £139 for a BNF Radian XL yet nerly £200 for a pnp? Reading comments on the FB looks like a lot of UK people are without their radios after they got sent to Germany for service/repair or without their online orders and getting no response from HH Germany. Could just be teething trouble during the move, but it's currently not looking good.
