Hi. In the end I got Fusion working again, after another update. It took at least 40 minutes to update, so need to be very patient but at least it’s working. It has been running quite slow on my PC for quite a while now however, I should look for alternatives, thanks for the suggestions. Nev.

Hi. Clearing the cache didn’t work, I think I have issues with my Defender Firewall blocking some Fusion functions. I will (try) and look at when I have time. As an aside, I did try 123D Design as an easy option, this is a great little program. I know it’s the forerunner but it works just like a simplified Fusion 360 but it did nearly everything I wanted, including exporting the .stl. I say nearly because it doesn’t have a thread form function, or at least I couldn’t find one. If it wasn’t for that I would happily use this all the time.

Thanks for the Tip. I'll give it a try tonight. I was debating wether to uninstall and re install again but that felt a bit drastic.

I like using Fusion 360 when it works and use fillet and Chamfer a lot. Also thread forming which is incredibly easy, thakes a bit if adjustment to get it to print well if you are doing mating parts but thats more to do with the quality of my printer.

Thanks for your suggestions, I will give Tinkercad a try. I’ve read a lot of you posts Simon and I can see Freecad is very capable. People seem to love it or hate it however, I believe the interface isn’t so intuitive if switching from another package. I usually use the 3D print command in Fusion 360 but save to stl, unchecking the send to printer box. I have also tried saving as a mesh and exporting but my PC just hangs as soon as I click ok and eventually, I get the “Fusion 360 is not responding “ message, which means a restart but as I said it may be my aging PC. Haven’t come across the others but will have a look. I have also seen Onsel ES, which I believe is a commercial version of Freecad ! but does have a free option. By all accounts its Freecad but more used friendly or familiar perhaps, if you are used to other packages.

Hi all. I play around with 3D printing and use Fusion 360, free version, which I’m ok with but no expert. My PC however is a bit marginal (windows 10) so lots of lagging, restarts and being patient. Following the last update however it won’t export the .stl files, I maybe doing something wrong bur don’t think so. So any recommendations for an alternative, I don’t need it to be so powerful as Fusion or the full package. Just something I can create relatively simple models and print files with. I’ve seen Freecad mentioned a few times but don’t know anything about it.

Thats a shame, I thought you were rarther good at it. I perticularly enjoyed your down to earth attitude and common sence advice but I imagine its not a very plesent task at times, for any of the Mods.

Hi. Don’t know why but this popped up on my Twitter feed today and made me think of your build. Though it might bring a little encouragement after all your sanding. -

Only Bob ? Young lads living away from home with money in our pockets, we had a great time but I hated that record. Not even that bad, must’ve just heard it to many times. ?
