  1. Payment sent to you via PayPal Danny.
  2. If the government wanted another airport so bad, I would have thought Manston and the surrounding area would have been ideal for development! Is there still a small museum there with Spitfire or Hurricane bits, or am I thinking of somewhere else?
  3. Yep, seen it, just counting out the pennies at the moment!
  4. Wow, what beautiful and intricately crafted models, that guy is a really talented artisan!
  5. My thoughts was air to air photographic sortie too! Did they fly near Old Warden at all? Pretty sure both Spits, flew over the top of house by the time I got out the front they were flying into the sun!   Edited By Glenn Stratton on 04/05/2014 22:58:25 Edited By Glenn Stratton on 04/05/2014 22:59:46
  6. This morning there was a pair of Spitfires both with one wing painted black, flying abreast with Vans aircraft between them, good omen for the rest of the day! Then to see a Red Kite soar at the same height and time as the models, along the pit line of the rc section at Old Warden Show was also amazing. Great day!
  7. Hi Danny, PM sent. Must say I was surprised that the hinges are not included in the CNC pack as they are prime subjects for the laser beam! May I ask how much rib tape did you purchase from Mick Reeves, and what are your thoughts on his stitches to go with the tape, or will you show us how to do our own? Feel a trip down to the De Havilland Museum coming on to photograph their Chippie exhibit colour scheme! Big thanks for your efforts!
  8. Oooo, they look super! The cost of jiffy bags obviously will be passed on to us, will you let us know the revised cost please! Will pm you my details later Danny.
  9. Yep still want a set please Danny. Are you likely to attend any Old Warden events this summer? Otherwise will try and arrange collection at some point.
  10. Thank you Martin for adding the additional info regarding the BBMF, I forgot to mention that other snippet!
  11. And Royal Mail have delivered a package to me today, so I now have plans and bits, hopefully! Did anyone know that the Chippie was used as a spy plane during the cold war! All aircraft, Russian & Allied used the same air corridors over Berlin, 2 Chipmunks were stationed there, the Chippie pilots would sit in the rear seat with a photographer in the front and off they would go, sometimes as low as 500ft over Russian/East Germany territory snapping away. It was believed that the Russians took the opportunity to do the same over the Allied lines. If I have got some of the facts wrong then I'm happy to be politely corrected!
  12. I live not far from Old Warden, Duxford is about 1/2hr drive away so see quite a variety of aircraft going back and forth, Cambridge Gliding Club is fairly close too, seeing about 15+ gliders in one thermal during a competition is something behold! Little Gransden is close by also, lots of Yaks there! See the Blades aerobatic team flying back and forth from Sywell. Military aircraft range from occasional Tuccano, Hercules, Apache, Puma, Chinook. I used to live on the Somerset Levels, RNS Yeovilton about an hour away so had a lot of navy aircraft, Lynx, Seaking, Merlin, Hawks and Harriers. RAF Hercules, Tornadoes and Tuccanos. Various types of American military aircraft. Now all of these aircraft flew over at about 500ft or very occasionally treetop height! Sometimes you would see an aircraft approach then climb up sharply, our house had just been "bombed"! One day a Hercules at 500ft turned on his wing tip over the house, made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!
  13. Hi Terry, I did wonder if you had any photos. I read an article on t'net from an instructor that was based at Cambridge, he says that he painted the motif on the cowl depicted by Airfix and bemoaned to them about errors on the model, and he taught 25 students to go solo between 64-67. Yes please Danny. Awaiting with baited breath & will be looking on with undivided attention!
  14. Just found a snippet of info that I had forgotten about (built the kit, read the history 35 odd yrs ago! ) and might be of interest to others. The original 1/72 scale Airfix model of the Chippie is based on WK574 stationed at Cambridge UAS cira '67. So this colour scheme, silver, yellow bands with blues & red band down the side, will be on the short list to finish mine in. The hunt goes on for any other early Cambridge UAS colour schemes. Can't find my log book, sure its not been binned but annoying lost/mislaid!  Edited By Glenn Stratton on 25/04/2014 21:11:45
  15. For my t'penny worth, as far as I know, Liberators had a nose wheel.
  16. Good to hear the maiden was a success Jim, she's a nice looking model, look forward to seeing Jocosta on her floats too! What size is your Dart Kitten, is it your own design/who is the designer, I have one on my build list & would like to fit a flat twin, and did you have access to laser to cut the parts or were they cut by a company(SLEC?). 17. Thanks Shaunie, like RS but found their website daunting! Looks like they've got a bit more user friendly since I last looked. Personally I prefer to have peace of mind having spent time and money on my model, and if the quality of the part is good then happy to pay, to a point! Ian, can you expand on your method of switch wiring for me please, not sure about *on the same 't' shape wire* bit!
  18. Mark a, was the switch from a major brand or a ebay special! Like the sound of your switch, you have a part number for it Shaunie?
  19. Congratulations Monz, great to see the fruits of your labours take to the air and fly so nicely! Hope the nose damage isn't too serious!
  20. Hi Trevor, sorry just caught up with your thread from the 11th! Which ATC squadron were you in? I flew at Marshall's too, around '69-72, I was in 1372 Borehamwood squadron. I have been to the Mosquito museum but not for a while, overdue another visit! I like your tail skid, and paint scheme, the model is looking great, your perseverance has paid off with dividends! Well done and congratulations and wishing you all the best when you get to maiden her!
  21. Thanks for the offer Kevin, will bear that in mind. I'm joining in with the Chippie build in October, and I think that will keep me occupied for a quite a while! If I get on alright with the Chippie then I plan to follow on and do the Magister then the Tutor!
