  1. Cheers, but I have this info already. An ESC can be put into a "programme mode". This is signified by a series of beeps of various lengths / tones. Each "group" of beeps relates to a setting that can be changed (Lipo / NIMH / Life etc). Another "group" of beeps relates to the timing (usually high / medium / low). It is this information that we need. I have tried [email protected] , but it bounces back!.
  2. I have trawled through all these already. They do cover the basics but do not cover all the myriad of beeps, just prop brake. I want to make some adjustments to the timing, but am finding it virtually impossible to find any instructions!. Thx for looking anyway.
  3. Several of us have got the excellent Phoenix 2000 glider, which has as standard a Volantex 30 speed controller. However, it comes with very limited instructions only, with no explanation as to what the various set up beeps represent. As we want to fine-tune these models has anybody got either the relevant instructions covering all the beeps or a programme card that works?
  4. I run a "One Design" comp for this model in our club. Fifteen models purchased, average turnout about seven. Best bet is to either carry out lots of practice launches and hold in some down, or mix in a bit of down elevator / throttle. All our models are identical, which has led to some fantastic competition!.
  5. I have also had some success with "Gumtree" and "Preloved". Both free sites with no "on" costs. Best bet would be to advertise on all of them, and see how you get on.
  6. Having sold many models over the years, I would forget e.bay. Lots of timewasters, silly offers, e.bay and paypal fees. Best bet is the BMFA classified site. Never had a problem, buyers collect and talk the same language. Great facility IMHO.
  7. I have used HK for years. Fantastic prices, keep you in the picture, confirm receipt of orders, confirm dispatch, outstanding customer services. Its a no brainer......whats not to like?.
  8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SkyRC-Nitro-Engine-Heater-Head-Warmer-Low-Voltage-Cutoff-12VDC-Pre-SK-60006-USA-/181777586629 This seems a good idea especially during the winter months. One of our guys is using one on his IC model. Anybody else tried them on aircraft engines, or are they just a gimmick?
  9. Posted by Eagle 899 on 07/01/2017 13:18:17: PM me your email address and I'll send you the pdf manual. Shep Many thx. PM sent
  10. I managed to find some basic info on setting the throttle and the brake, which I have done. Lots of other options to explore, so hence the need for a detailed setting up programme sheet.
  11. I recently purchased a HKUK P2K which has a VOLANTEX 30 ESC fitted. As usual with HKUK, no instructions on the ESC and I cannot find much on the internet!. It has the usual plethora of beeps, which without a programming list mean less than nothing. Can anybody help please?. Thx Simon
  12. Great photos. Without wishing to hijack the thread, I think these Ben Buckle / vintage type models are fantastic!. I have got a Joe Elgin Playboy, which I have flown for over ten years, and am running next years club vintage comps. (Time & Glide, Touch and Goes & Precision). They really have stood the test of time. How many of the current crop of ARTF's will still be being produced in 70 years time?. Ok,they need a bit of head scratching / effort to put together, but by and large they are relaxing to fly and are big enough to see at a distance. Love 'em!.
  13. Great. Thx Tom. Given me the motivation to finish the model. Needless to say, I will be keeping out of the way of others whilst prop-hanging!
  14. Several of our club members have got the HobbyKing Sonic 64. Brilliant model. Does not mind the wind, very robust, hand launches easily, is fairly quick and good on a 3s2200 lipo. Good value as well. Hope this helps. Simon
  15. Tom, many thx for the picture. Any idea what they flew like? Simom
  16. All valid points (apart from the Depron ), will have to have a re-think. uggly buggly coming on well though despite the plans.
  17. Thanks chaps. Done all the balsa stripping, its sheet and triangular section I need. Will price up SLEC but sounds good so far!
  18. Thought I might have a go at building a Buggly Ugger from plans over the winter. Ideal, I thought. Warm model room / tea / ginger biscuits etc etc. Then I looked in to the price of balsa, as all our local shops are long gone. Its INSANE!. No wonder not many people build from plans anymore.....be cheaper to grow my own balsa tree and sit and wait. I might be going to the wrong suppliers.......anybody know of a decent on? Cheers. Simon.
  19. PM sent. Odd that it does not come with programming instructions"! Many thx
  20. We have bought a few of these for a one design comp. Keeping the OE throughout. Does anybody know the OE prop size, so I can get some spares? Also, how is the ESC programmed as there are no instructions! Many thx Simon
  21. I am with Martin on this one. Used countless electric pumps over the years, and eventually gave up and reverted to the good old hand pump. Cheap as chips and they work!.
  22. Sent several items back via RMA. Never had a problem, but give it at least two weeks.
  23. Having just won a ready built Cambria / Cambrian ME109 at our club Xmas party, I am interested in working out where the c/g is supposed to be. I think it is 68mm back, but as it is one of the earlier versions, I am not 100%. Can anybody help please? Thx, Simon.
  24. I am not a great believer in these light strips either, as I have found they differ wildly and what does each light reflect exactly?. The only way to check Life rx cells is with a multimeter IMHO. You get a decent 2 decimal point readout, and they can easily be calibrated if you know an electrician!. They drop like stone from 7.2v to 6.6v and then hold 5.5 for hours. Good bit of kit.
  25. Agreed. Best bet is to rig up a multimeter and suitable plug / socket on the side of the fuz. Check voltage regularly ( stir the sticks at the same time), and monitor the voltage. 6.4V = about 40% left in the pack. As with most things battery...........hundreds of different opinions!
