  1. Here are a couple.of really good ones ............   GWS Formosa - great little foamie and really cheap ! Mini Ultra Stik - superb and with that nice and accessible motor mount it's easy to add more power when you feel the need.  Mines been powered by a number of cheapie motors ove the last few years.   You may need a hand if you've not flown with ailerons before.   GG
  2. Favourite for in the park - Fliton Rogue Favourite at the flying field - WOT4.  Makes me smile whenever I fly it ...............   GG
  3. Hey Eric   You aren't  far wrong - we regularly share our field with about 20 cows.  The electric fence keeps them off the strip but the rest of the field, including the pits, is fair game .........................   GG
  4. I'll second that !  Lovely flying plane - bit difficult to keep clean though    I fly mine on 2000MaH 2S which seems plenty of power.  Adding some colour is a good idea as it's pretty bland and difficult to see all in white - mine has fluorescent orange tips and tailplane (underneath)   GG   Edited By Timbo - Moderator on 14/04/2009 10:57:30
  5. P.S. I warm mine on a radiator, or stand them in hot water. GG
  6. Warming epoxy certainly does make it runnier - but only if you warm it before mixing    When doing wing bandages, I find I use a lot less if it's warm.  I dribble it on and then spread it out with those nice tools you can get free from Costa Coffe/Starbucks etc. - I think they call them stirrers..................   GG
  7. A lovely day at the field yesterday, loaded the car to the Gunnels (phonetic spelling !): Wot4 EasyStreet Ultimate FunFly Giles 202 Yak54 EHawk Elektro Junior S Rogue.   Weather was great and managed a few things:   a) Got the engine just about sorted on the UFF b) Got the engine just about sorted on the Giles - not sure it'll end up being one of my favourite planes though c) Got 20+ flights in.   On the downside....................  my puny starter battery wouldn't turn over the new ASP61 in me Yak so that didn't get flown, and I managed to hit the electric fence three times !  Once my Elektro Junior skidded far further than I expected and hit one of the support posts - good old Elapor !  Then I undershot with my UFF when the breeze got up - minor damage to the tail.  Finally, I overshot my Wotty on deadstick and ripped the tail completely off.  Must practice landings more.   Ah well, if I'm not flying the Wotty for a while, at least the others will get a look in.   GG
  8. Hi David In the park I fly my Rogue.  Can manage to get it down without breaking the u/c off each time now.  It's a beautiful flier even on cheap outrunner and 3S.  Nice and quiet too - only gets remotely loud when the propellor in the sort of messy air that's left when it tailslides vertically................. Must get something else - or fix my Mini ULtra Stik so I've a couple to fly.   GG
  9. I just love these longer days.  This week, I've managed to fly in the local park before work every day !  Yeppee !   I reckon I've had more stick time this last fortnight than in the previous 6 months - I must check my log.  Yes, I'm a bit sad Iike that     The practice must be doiug me good 'cos I haven't damaged much - just the tail on my Wotty where I caught the electric fence on a 'go around' at the weekend.   GG
  10. Sunday was glorious here in Yorks - bit cold though.  It was -2 at 7:00 when I took the Rogue to the park !   Thankfully, a bit later on it warmed up a tad.  Stupid me forgot to put the clocks on and arrived at the field an hour late though - Du'oh !   Got a couple of lights in on the Rogue, flew the Easystreet, Elektro Junior and EHawk.  Oh, and of course, half a dozen on the Wotty  It was a bit breezy mid afternoon  and cold if the sun hid behind a cloud but all in all, a nice day.    Very quiet - only three of us at the patch as everyone else was at our last indoor meeting of the year.    GG
  11. Morning everyone,   Does anyone form an emotional attachment to certain planes, or is it just me ?   For example, when I take my Wot4 out, I grin from ear to ear and get quite upset at the slightest knock.  Which i then fix as soon as I can.  But ................   I've beeen repairing an Overlander Tucano for months now and often weeks will go by when I don't so much as stick a single bit of wood on it; or even pick it up !  Similarly, my EasyStreet has had some film covering missing from it's underfin and air scoop for months and I haven't got "round toit" yet - it's not as if it doesn't fly as well as the Wotty - it's flies really really well.   Thoughts ?   GG
  12. Don't believe Kalt manufacture helis any more.  Certainly Baron's are very very 'old school' and spares can be hard to find - was a nice heli though.   GG
  13. I took a long lunch and visited the ;atch.  Colder and breezier than I expected but beautifully sunny and clear.  Got another couple in on the Rogue and the EHawk.  Would've flown the JuniorS as well but I'd left the wing spar at home   Looks good for tomorrow, OK for Sunday and pants for Monday - when I'm off of course   GG
  14. Having been recently taken over by Lloyds, work is a bit manic at the mo' so I can only look wistfully out of the windows at the lovely weather.  Day off Monday so not doubt it's gonna be wet n windy Looking on the bright side, managed theree quick flights in the local park before work this week - I love longre days ............   GG
  15. Hi Kelvin,   the similarity between the Ripmax and Balsacraft Spits seemed to be debated at some length when the Ripmax Spit first came out.  I think the end result and concensus was that there was no relationship between them.   Having said that, both fly beautifully; I have a Ripmax one and saw a Balsacraft one several times.  It was on brushed and 8 cells so they must be even better with brushless power........   GG
  16. No code on mine but checks out fine.  Still think it's a great piece of kit ...........   GG
  17. Hello Mowerman - good job you didn't all come on Saturday - the mole catcher had blocked the gate with his mole-mobile so there'd have been a queue of us parked down the lane ........... GG
  18. Summer indeed.  Snow, sleet and 0 degrees C here ................. Sat and Sunday were OK though - for a change. GG
  19. 'tis true, no such thing as too much stuff.  My garage is chocca with it ! Interesting about whether it's worth rebuiilding or not - my Overlander Tucano is as Jinxed a something very jinxed indeed and I'm rebuilding the fuselage front end for what feels like the millions time (actually third).  I'm sure it'd have been cheaper, given the price of balse, to have bought a new one ............. I tell myslef it's good to keep traditional skills like cutting fingers, swearing and gluing the wrong pieces of a jigsaw together,  alive    GG
  20. Hi Ian   I did a similar thing on a little Tucano - made all the RAF insignia and bobbins, sealed with clear solarfilm.  After about 18 months, the sun (well, light!) had bleached most of the colour off.   Not sure if printed using the special paper etc. it would have the same problem.   GG
  21. I have a FW190 - it's about 10 years old now.  Currently converting for Brushless and Lipos - went well on a Race 600 and 8 cells so should be nice if I can get it to balance   GG
  22. Flew yesterday, in between rain showers.  Flew the Rogue a couple of times and maidened the Elektro Junior S - can't believe how well that climbs on just 2 cells.  Nice plane !   Was going to go today but woke with a wacking headache so just sat in Costa coffee drinking coffee.............   GG
  23. Thought I'd update this list ....... Currently flying:   Wot4, TwinStar, EasyStreet, Yak54, Ultimate, EHawk, Mini-Panic, Rogue, Elektro Junior S (New !), TT Giles 202. Tucano STILL being repaired.............. it's very cold in my garage. GG
  24. Any news ?   I was about to say "If it's like Yorkshire weather where you are, you'll probably not have had a chance to fly ............" so I checked your profile and you ARE in Yorkshire !  Where do you fly ?   GG
