  1. Follow the instructions, they work! 😀
  2. Footballers taken off the pitch at Southampton due to drone activity 🤬
  3. You'll also need to buy a dongle - like this....... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133283588109?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=7101533165274578&mkcid=2&itemid=133283588109&targetid=4584826055637456&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=&poi=&campaignid=412354546&mkgroupid=1299623041023876&rlsatarget=pla-4584826055637456&abcId=9300541&merchantid=87779&msclkid=344190a514d11a4ea6f9f36c1eaa0f49 I use Phoenix with my FlySky tx - works flawlessly and Phoenix is rather good.
  4. Nice looking plane but deffo not a PT17! Looks like a nice high wing sports plane - although I doubt it's worth anything as it's damaged and incomplete. Having said that, I've seen worse on ebay! Probably get a few quid for the engine. Try contacting your local club (BMFA Club Finder web page) - easier than ebay or FaceBook Marketplace.
  5. Can you take it out of the bag? Doesn't look like a PT19 from what I can see. The engine looks unused; not sure of the quality of the larger MDS engines but the smaller ones were........ variable!
  6. Dead calm on East Coast of Yorks.... strong sun too so feels quite warm. Sadly I am puppy-sitting 😞
  7. Maybe revisit one day..... it sounds to me like you've skipped a step in the instructions. In the meantime, enjoy building your Red Eagle, and flying your Ranger..... let us know how you get on.
  8. It's Ok on 2 of my W10 devices (Surface and desktop) and runs on my W11 machine as well.... just followed the instructions on rc-thoughts. Did you definitely follow the instructions? Download; extract all the files; run Setup from the extracted file location......
  9. Seems every day we have winds over 10mph here! Not today though - dead calm. albeit cold at -4. No flying for me - dog-sitting....
  10. Hi Greg How are you trying to open Phoenix? Does nothing at all happen? Presumably you're using a Windows PC - what Windows version ? The dongle has no impact on Phoenix starting...
  11. That Hurri is REALLY nice.... I was out yesterday......... 5 mins of flying, followed by 10 mins of warming up... surprisingly I was billy-no-mates!
  12. I can't see if that Start button is greyed out, but the blue Extract button looks available..... have you actually extracted all the files? You'll need to Extract all the files, then run setup from the extracted file location. Without the dongle, you can run Setup, and upgrade to v6. You'll be able to start the sim, but you won't be able to fly until you have a dongle, as Phoenix won't spot your controller. You can also look at all the models and flying sites available.
  13. Yeah, it's very light! Good idea to join BMFA. Phoenix is free, but you will need that dongle we mentioned - between £5 and £20. Phoenix won't run without a dongle. That screenshot looks fine. Press that Start button......
  14. No harm in trying Phoenix - it's not a massive financial gamble 🙂 How heavy is your Ranger? If over 250g you'll need to take a simple test to get an Operator ID allowing you to fly. You can take the test via BMFA (if you join), or direct with CAA. If you join BMFA, you'll have insurance too...
  15. Good news re the Ranger - we just need the weather to co-operate now! There are a few threads on here about the Red Eagle that may help you - just search in the bar near the top of the page. I know I keep banging the drum for Phoenix, but it is worlds apart from Picasim, and much much easier to configure on a Windows PC. I too failed to make Picasim talk to my FlySky TX...... I'm afraid I can't say whether or not it will work any easier with Picasim. Futaba make good, if pricey kit, so that 6 channel set will last a good few years.
  16. My first brushless motor was an Axi 2820 - lovely motors, albeit getting pricier now........
  17. @paul devereux I thing greg has a FlySky tx. I use a F;ySky with Phoenix - just needs a dongle and mini-coax to 'din' adapter. More posts in gregs other thread re sims.....
  18. If your tx didn't come with a little 'din' to coax adapter, something like this provides a Phoenix dongle, cable, and adapter... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133283588109?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=7101533165274578&mkcid=2&itemid=133283588109&targetid=4584826055637456&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=&poi=&campaignid=412354546&mkgroupid=1299623041023876&rlsatarget=pla-4584826055637456&abcId=9300541&merchantid=87779&msclkid=344190a514d11a4ea6f9f36c1eaa0f49 There may well be UK suppliers, with a little searching.

  20. My FlySky tx came with a coax to trainer port adapter........ but yes, Greg will need one if his tx has the din-type trainer socket. I was just illustrating how cheaply they can be found.
  21. @caveman @Greg This is what I bought - it has the dongle, and a mini-coax cable. A mini-coax to 'din-type' converter was included with the FlySky tx I use. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354096624986 Works perfectly and replaces the one I got when I bought the 22-in-1 sim which included software for Phoenix, Realflight (an older version that is upgradable), Reflex XTR and some other ones. Subsequently, I changed PC'a and just downloaded Phoenix.
  22. Good to see that the powers that be read the forum..... even nicer when a thread is referenced in the editorial! Latest issue is much much better. Thank you RCM&E.
  23. I posted a link to the dongle I use. Type in parts of the description in ebay, and you'll find lots - all perfectly safe. There are also some uk shops (type sim cable..) but they're obviously more expensive, and probably came from the same factory as those listed on ebay. Probably any on Amazon as well.... Phoenix has been suggsted as it's cheap, has hundreds of models available (and flying sites) and is rather good. I've used it for years and have never missed vendor support. There is nothing in it that I have thought "that could do with an update". If you do get stuck, there is an active group of people who create new models etc., on rcgroups. I've never had an issue.... Realflight is a good sim. Very ecpensive if you just want to see if you get on with a sim though - for years I didn't like sims at all.
  24. Indoors was quiet - just the four of us. My fun was curtailed by a failed solder joint between esc & motor connectors after just three flights 🙁. Think I'll remove the connectors and solder the wires permanently and save a few grams - that'll offset the glue that's been added!
  25. Hi Greg Don't be surprised to see s major difference with the US and UK 'definition' of a Park Flyer...... wverything's bigger in the US of A! Not sure if we've said, but if you don't get a RTF plane, you'll need additional stuff. Foam planes generally need a transmitter, receiver, lipo battery (and suitable charger). If you go balsa, you'll need to buy more stuff to build it, and some more stuff (motor, speed controller, servos) to get in the air..... more help here once you decide what to get!
