  1. As usual there is a video that accompanies the process ? Cheers Danny
  2. Just a nudge on this: The entry forms are now live on the BMFA website If you want to enter, especially the scale R/C on Saturday get your entries in quick as places are at a premium. Cheers Danny
  3. Managed a little more, but managed to get really bogged down with learning Fusion 360 this week. Did a drawing of the throttle quadrant for my Auster, to then realise it needed to be printed in parts, so my poor drawing methodology meant I would have to start again. So I created the part from styrene sheets, rods and some glass headed pins.... as you do. Will be glad to escape the cockpit... Oh I did do a Venturi which a friend is printing ? Cheers Danny
  4. Oh thats not good, sorry if following me has led you astray. Feel bad about it ? hope the repair isn't too painful, both wings?
  5. I got advice from a very experienced model maker and the PDF from the aces of Iron website, they said oils over enamel or acrylic. That's why we try these things. Cheers Danny
  6. Yeah i wish i hadnt used oils. The pdf instructions said oils were best for blending. I may wipe it off lol Cheers Danny
  7. Hi Richard, not sure what warped mine, its not enough to affect it, just that i can see it. I dont use a heat gun just an iron. Can i suggest you clamp the trailing edge firmly straight, then add a couple of coats of dope then just leave it, maybe a week? I was toying with that idea, but shant bother its not much. Cheers Danny
  8. For those that are interested, a video on the belts. Not really much to see, but might prove useful. Cheers Danny
  9. My Dennis Bryant Chippy ended up in a similar way, it was the wingtip that was wrong. I shaped it un be knowingly with some aileron deflection ? flies fine, but there again it does only ever go around and around.....
  10. Hi Bas, I have made the metal fittings before, but as this is just for fun, I cheated. Over the years I have collected quite a few accesories from the DID Dragon figures, they used to sell for peanuts, harnesses, parachutes etc. In this instance I harvested bits of strap and buckles etc from my dwindling bits box. But you can, if you have the inclination, make the metal bits from litho plate. Cheers Danny
  11. Thanks Nick, smoke and mirrors, looks good but not terribly accurate, still i will take the praise ?
  12. So finished the seats today while waiting for the bloomin oil paint on the pilots to dry. Been three days! Still getting closer, burgundy and silver are still favorites on the colour scheme Cheers Danny
  13. Having a quick practice on a smaller figure, this hasnt been cleaned up so washes are out it would track in the 3D layers. Yet to tackle the face and arms. Done in oils so you can blend. But you have to wait for the mid layer, i maybe too impatient ? Cheers Danny
  14. It is certainly food for thought. I seem to remember Chris Bott made his vintage with a motor "pod" one leccy one diesel. The diesel was for RCME fun fly. Cheers Danny
  15. Okay so just suppose we went for the 52" Mamselle by Vic Smeed. PAW 15 (2.49 cc) DS £77 For the Masterclass I used to chase a discount on the understanding that A. a few would buy, and B. the publicity. So if it is £60 and we could get a small discount from Leon, plus a Paw or .15 glow and a two channel Rx. Floats my boat.... Cheers danny
  16. I must say I lost interest in the mass builds when the model selection was open to "anything goes" However a theme is a nice idea. Several years ago we did a vintage build, and that would appeal to me again, I always meant to do a larger Mamselle. Just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons, how about we change the idea a bit and stipulate vintage and diesel powered, it is quite an anniversary after all...... Cheers Danny
  17. Well done Eric that is splendid news ? And I look forward to seeing it resplendent with office furniture. Really well done on the weight saving that is very impressive! Cheers Danny
  18. That looks terrific Eric, well done. Good luck with the first flight, I am sure it will be fine. You do need somebody in the office though ? Cheers Danny
  19. If you aren't subscribed to my channel (and why aren't you?) here is the link to the Panel making video ? 38 minutes so if that doesn't put you to sleep nothing will! Waiting for oil paints to arrive to do the pilot figure, but I did whiz over to Wheelspin and collect some more Tamiya colours, mainly flat flesh as a base for the face and arms. Cheers Danny
  20. Just ran the instructions past my IPMS expert and Graham thinks the process looks very similar to what they do with the plastic kits ?
  21. That looks good David, I think I understand the blending process, I have oils lol but never considered using them....... Need some matt flesh Humbrol ? Thanks again for the link much appreciated Cheers Danny
  22. Hi Richard, I had to cut my figure to fit, its mainly the height of the seat being a bit out, but I had to clear the servos which are under said seat! If you are clever with the slicing software you may be able to save yourself some wasted print time. Plastic filler primer is on. Anybody have any links to instruction re painting a figure, I am worse than rubbish at this! Cheers Danny
  23. Brilliant thanks Ron, I will get one on order Cheers Danny
  24. Hi David, yes that is brilliant, thanks for taking the pics. I know I am not the only one struggling with this part. Hope you don't mind me asking, as you know I am an IC newbie, where do you get that remote glow connector? I need one of those too. Cheers Danny
