With our Flying field being a bit muddy over the winter period. Thought I needed a good old winter model. I love Cubs so I invested in the FMS 1700.PA Supercub .This model is fantastic what a flyer .It has the characteristics of the good old Cub and with the large wheels it will almost take of in a ploughed field. Surprisingly it is quite aerobatic but I am not in to that I just like to fly.it like a cub should be flown .The model is well made ,easy to assembly and fly very slow. I love it .Well done FMS another quality model .I can fully recommend it .I see they do a smaller PA18 at 1300mm. I would suspect that would be a good flyer to and would make a good trainer aircraft 👌👌👍

During my working life I work a long side the CAA at a major airport and my dealing with the CAA where. well let just say they are a law un to them self ,what they say goes and are full of red tape
-
Can someone tell me what this CAA test actually meant to achieve because I can not see any benefits from this CAA test .I have several friends who use drones for videoing the country side .Not one of them have even bother or care about and most have not heard of this test. It seems to me it is only the rc modellers are caught in this trap
-
More unesary red tape from the CAA .What a complete joke this CAA test is But 10 out off 10 from the BMFA for making the test not a problem .I suspect the BMFA are just has frustrated with the CAA test has I am but unfortunately that is life now Life can no longer be just straight forward anymore .30 years ago when I started model flying life was so simple and model flying was just a hobby with out all this crap It must put people off thinking of taking up this hobby now 😒

This happened if you do not know what you are doing !!!
Rocker replied to Rocker's topic in Incident Reports
If he had bothered to come down our Flying field ,we could of explained all about lipo and how important it is to charge them correctly .Bit he did not -
A person in our village decided to take up model flying .I explained to him about our Flying club and said he was more then welcome to come down and get to know us all and if he was serious about model flying we could teach him He decided not to join our club ,saying he could fly in the local park for free ( yes I know that was a stupid and possible not legal but there you go ) So what happened .Well he charged his lipo batteries up on a car charger and left it and went shopping in town leaving the batteries charging 😘.While he was in the town he watch 2 fire engine scream passed on blue light .You have guessed it .It was his house. House and garage burnt to the ground and totally destroyed his house and garage .Luckily his house was a detached house so his neigbough house was OK So for the sake of not joining our club and being shown what and what not to do he has lost his house, his garage and 3 classic motorbikes that where not insured

Fms 1450mm or Eflite 1500mm Mustang ?
Rocker replied to flying daddy's topic in All Things Model Flying
I find I am not keen on any Efite models because their back up with spare parts is awful and hard to obtain .So if you brake a prob or a retract you could have a problem .Where FMS is a lot better with their spare parts. If it was me I would go for the FMS Mustang ,it is cheaper and better if you break a prop or a retract -
Like flying daddy I have given up too

What the hell are FMS playing at .Finding it impossible to download any files regarding the Reflex V2 It is a bloody joke Tried the FMS FK Param V2.0(REV1).zip - refuses to download saying "No app available to download this file " My advice stay well clear of the Reflex system .Go for a Spektrum AS3X receiver or go on Motion RC and get the Hobby Eagle gyro .They are easy and simple to install .The FMS Reflex is a complete joke. No wonder FMS stop installing them in their models
-
I come to the conclusion that the Reflex system is only set up for the model it comes in and FMS do not want customers to switch it to a different model
-
Try no luck ,This reflex V2 is way to complicated Can not find anything on the FMS web site or the FMS App on how to download the FMS 1450 V8 Red Tail Mustang .Throw the reflex v2 in the bin and brought a Spectrum receiver with AS3X built in . The Spectrum receiver was easy to programme unlike that crap Reflex V2

Laser and best of British Buckminster fly in
Rocker replied to Ron Gray's topic in Shows, Club Events and Competitions
I have a spare Laser 80 and a Laser 180..I do not have clue what models to get for this 2 engines So I be going to this Laser weekend .Be a good chance to see what models I can get for these 2 engines -
I have always used a Y lead for ailerons but most flyers in my club go for the 2 servo in separate channels with a mix .So is there any pro and cons with 2 servo and a mix or stick with a Y lead plugged straight into the aileron port on your receiver ?

Funny you mentioned the 10 J someone else also recommended the 10 J Might take a look at the 10 J

The transmitter was the DX 6 DSMX and the receiver was the AR 620

Been a life time user of Sektrum and decided to change over to Futaba .Thinking of buying a 16 IZS Looking on U Tube about the 16IZS it looks a bit complicated to operate and set up but is this just because I am use to Spektrum and once you get use to Futaba is it a simple to set up and operate.Do not want to have a compicate transmitter that is to compicated operate
-
No I always keep my transmitters in the car out of the sun .I have a feeling I have read some where the DX 6 was a bit prone to motherboard problems
-
Thanks everyone Not worth risking and not worth repairing. I have given the DX6 to a youngster in our club on the understanding he only uses it on his simulator and not for flying models .There is always a good side to thinks .Now do I buy the NX 8+ or the NX 10 Or change completely and buy a Futaba 16 IZS 🤔

Had my DX6 bound to my DH 60 Moth .Started the model up,did the usual checks ,all OK .Place the DH 6 Moth on the strip on tick over ( ic motor not electric ).Has I walked back to the flight box for some reason my DH Moth went into full throttle and shot of.down the strip.. I had no control over it Luckily it careered into the safety fence. When I got to the model I noticed the DX6 was turn on but had no screen like the transmitter was turned off I turned DC 6 off and turned it back on and control was restored to the model .Why did the fail safe not kicking in and return the model to tick over .When I got the model back to the pitts and I check it over and the fail safe was working OK .I do not know what cause the model to go into full throttle and lose all radio control..Yet the transmitter switch was on but the transmitter was not working with a blank screen .The DX6 is working fine now but can not trust it anymore Any idea what could of caused this .I have no idea what caused this happened
