How to connect the ESC to the Motor with no instructions?
DH 82A replied to adam fielder's topic in Beginners
As above, if you are using Futaba radio, the throttle will need reversing, at the Transmitter, for electric flight. -
Posted by PatMc on 18/07/2013 15:50:25: Posted by Erfolg on 18/07/2013 10:35:59: The club I am a member off, has a slightly more demanding criteria in awarding the "A" test, in that their are specific additional safety issues to the respect to the site. In that case it's not an "A" test. In the test, you could be asked a question relating to safety rules particular to that site.

"This morning the site was "not available" when I clicked on my usual Chrome browser link, though it came up okay when I typed the address in manually. More importantly though, it's still not remembering me even though I check the appropriate box when I log in. That was happening to me when I used Internet Explorer 8, so I changed to Chrome to try and fix it. With the old-look site logging in was simple because the log-in screen was there at the left of the main forum page, but now it's a separate page altogether." Same here. using W7 and Chrome.

And it's got a nice colour co-ordinated propeller !!

"" I have often read that we should only use electric props on electric models. " I think the reason for this statement is that E props are far lighter in construction, so if used on an I.C. engine, there is a danger of throwing a blade, etc. On the packaging of APC E props there is a warning not to be used on I.C. engines. There is no reason not to use I.C. props on electric, some of my E models have them.

The receiver needs a power supply. Do you have a receiver battery 4.8 volt ? If so, plug this into the batt socket, then try your beeps, etc. Also, on Futaba transmitters, the throttle channel has to be reversed, or the throttle will not " work".

Last year I ordered 4 props from 4 Max, after about ten days they had not arrived. I Emailed George who said they had been dispatched the same day as receiving the order, as usual, however as I had not received them he immediately sent the order again, asking only that, if the originals arrived, I would return them. No argument, no quibbles, just good service. The original order is still lost in Royal Mail's"system"

Been using 4-Max for years, excellent. Why the cynicism T.M. ?

Driving along a country lane, I saw a one eyed, one armed, one legged man thumbing a lift. I stopped, and said to him," eye, eye, mate, you look harmless, hop in."

method to remove solarfilm from solartex ? any ideas
DH 82A replied to richard cohen's topic in Hints and Tips
Other, milder solvents to try, are white spirit ( turps subs,), methylated spirit, or, carefully, cellulose thinner. -
Also have a look at the ready made adjustable mounts from 4-max or Puffin models, etc.,

Does your club allow you to fly alone?
DH 82A replied to graeme jones's topic in All Things Model Flying
" As an example,I have always had a problem with the now almost universal club rule that effectively turns the Achievement Scheme A Certificate into a licence to fly. I don't think the originators of the scheme had that in mind. At least the club at my second site has a rider which permits solo flight without an A provided that the flyer is deemed competent by an examiner. This is just common sense because some, while perfectly capable, perhaps having flown for decades, may not want to "achieve" anything in particular. They just want to enjoy a bit of model flying as a hobby. Graeme " ---------------------------------------------------------- Exactly. -

Lovely model, if the plan is published, I think I would prefer the original 60" span. Though at 50" it may become a free plan ? (nudge, nudge) . -
Any book, thanks

If you are using a Futaba transmitter. the throttle channel needs to be reversed for use with ESC,s -
I have a 40" span Jungmeister ( Gordon Whitehouse plan ) electric, amd a small 49" Whirlwind, (Cloud models ). also electric. Will have to wait though,'cos after 27 years in the same club, I've been told I have to get an " A ".

Throttles, Speed Controllers and Motors

Why not follow the instructions that come with the ESC? All ESC's I,ve had, brushed and brushless, have instructions, using either TX stick movements or prog. card. -
I have two of those "Gold" Tx's and think they were the best. However, I wonder if they are still "legal" to use, as neither has the C E sticker. Only one has the old SMAE approved sticker. Are they still allowed to be used? I last used mine a year ago, but now use Futaba 2.4.

Where is the split down the fuselage ?

On a similar theme, when flying, I hate someone coming over and saying " that flies well " ! Please, wait till it's back on the ground.

11.5 x 4 @ 9270rpm = 35mph 11 x 5.5 @ 9480 == 49 mph 10 x 7 @ 9060 = 60 mph 11.5 x 4 @ 9360 = 35.45 mph Are these airspeeds satisfactory ?

Use the throttle ?
