Hi John not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this question or not, so here goes I have managed to snag an old Duncan Hutson SE 5a kit almost 1/4 scale with a 73 inch wingspan it is not started yet as I am debating what engine to fit and I would like to keep it in cowl as much as possible, recommended engine is an OS 120 pumped and it fits under the cowl with about 7mm to spare, petrol was my first choice but the only one that will fit is the Saito fg21 I would really like to swing a larger prop then this engine is capable of say 18x8 or 20x6, with the low oil content that the laser now uses I may stick with glow, will the 155 or 180 be an alternative to the Os....   Ps to any who may suggest it, I would prefer a four stroke over a two stroke.... Yes I would imagine in cooler temps it would be quite brittle.

Interesting point MattyB I bought a Spektrum module for my 72mz JR 9303 because I really liked the feel and heft of it and did not like the look or feel of the then newer style xg11, then as a backup radio bought a Taranis and really fell in love with it, the one feature I really like is I can take that same Spektrum module and put it in the Taranis set up the control throws accordingly and I'm good to go. I could also plug a FrSky module into the JR and reverse the process.

Simon I don't think I will ever have the knowledge to program a 3D printer but the technology fascinates me, I was prompted to search for other objects made in this manner and came across THIS I did take not the reference to weight several times throughout the video.

Ok I now see the issues with weight, absolutely amazing what can be done with a 3D printer.

JR at the moment with a mix of JR Spektrum Rx's, gradually changing to FrSky, would have stayed with JR but don't really like the look and feel of their new style Tranny plus the versatility offered by my Taranis is unmatched by any of the major brands except maybe Multiplex and they are not so readily available this side of the Atlantic.

Don't know anything about this kind of printing but is it possible to "print in" the spar notches? also could you not print a few cross members between the top and bottom frame of the rib or was this tried and came out too heavy.

your'e right Colin, I bought mine quite a few years ago along with the Tornado ( still unbuilt by the way) thinking of EDF power instead of rear props. The website is still a good source of build pictures, I did not use the the plan for the Tuc just laid a straight line down my board and went from there, lovely flyer no vices at all you will not go far wrong with this model Tom/Richard.

I didn't know BVR was still active, that's Nigels own website I believe. I actuaiiy bought both my Tuc kits from this site, still have one not built, if Nigel is still cutting kits go for it. Edited By Tony Richardson on 31/01/2017 18:53:03

Very nice Colin I like it.

It almost looks like a reverse image of a provincial flag but which one I cant say as most provinces don't have five idifferent symbols in their shield and these five look to be symbols from different provinces. Just stumbled onto this thread, Tim you must have been a truffle hound in your last life, how else can you explain finding these aviation gems, first the Siebel then the Hild Marshonet and now this, lovely keep them coming.

Richard I agree glow is great for model engines, powerful for their size and relatively light, that said living where I do glow fuel is expensive and has to be brought to the island, sometimes onspecial order adding to the cost, with the petrol eengines now available and the low fuel consumption of the four stroke gas engines it really is the way to go for most of us in our club here,. electric for the smaller models gas for the larger ones not everybody's choice but one that works for certain people.

John I don't know what the postage would be to Canada or what tax I might have to pay, ( it's usually very little on model stuff ) but your 70 at 180 uk pounds equates to $305 Canadian and the OS 56 is $420 Canadian plus 11% tax and whatever the shipping would be I'm guessing $15-$20. Honestly your 70 is a far better deal. At the moment I am trying to move away from glow into petrol as the fuel for glow engines is not only expensive but hard to find here on the Island.

How heavy is the model Phil? You don't state your reason for wanting to fit a larger engine. I have an older version of the Sig Rascal 40 and it is more than adequately powered with an OS 52 four stroke swinging a 12x6 prop and it weighs a little under 6lbs, you can even prop hang if you have the skill (I don't by the way) also has the power to handle floats if you wish to fly from a water runway.
