O M G it's a wonder you didn't have a major disaster whilst flying. If the wings are like this, what awaits you with the fuselage and tail. I shall look forward to seeing your progress. Chris

At the moment I'm doing a Cyril Carr depron model. It's the Fokker DR1 from the free plan in the Nov 2007 RCM&E mag. I'm also waiting for two kits to arrive, the Cyprus post is very slow due to the no flites and lock down. What I'm waiting for is a Guillows Corsair F4U and a Sterling P61 Black Widow. Both of which I shall rc them. Chris

My apologies if this is not the right place to put this. Awhile back I was contacted by someone who had one of these for sale, I did reply but he didn't get back to me, at that time I was having problems with the Internet here in Cyprus. I hope the person is well, and can he contact me again please Chris

Is there any commercial made ones? I seem to remember one some time ago.

Good news I have found someone on an American model site that has made and flown this model. He had the Sterling plans and scratched built it , so I can follow his steps and mods. Chris

Thanks. Robin I looked at the plan, yes it would be a lot more work but it could be done, question is can I do it. Ailerons, yes , add another piece of wood to take the hinges, etc , same with elevator, & rudder. I was also thinking about either wood sheeting or wood infill and Sanding down. Then you have the weight problems with esc battery etc. A lot to think about before I spend money . Thanks again. Chris

I'm considering getting a Sterling kit of a P61 Black Widow twin engine FF rubber powered model , about 39inch wingspan. I was wondering if it could be made rc with brushless motors. Has anyone had a sterling kit and had any success doing this. I have no knowledge of these kits and would imagine that they are like a Guillows kits. Please any advice would be grateful. Chris

Motors have arrived I have found that the esc will fit inside the nacelles. Can someone give me a wiring diagram for 4 brushless motors. Still wondering if I shall have enough power. Each motor is rated at 2900kv, 55 watts with 4inch props. Someone out there might have the knowledge. Chris
-
The update on this is the motors I ordered, it turns out he only had 3 off, but he has got 4x motors that are similar in size, weight and power to the EFlite park 180, these are rated at 2900kv so they could be beter. I will keep you posted on this when they arrive here in Cyprus and I can start work. Brett do you know what scheme you are doing yours in? I've going with the US Coast Guard , and I have ordered a set from Callie graphics. . Chris

Two old ladies going round Sunday market, one says look Ethel toilet brushes £1eash we have one of them a. Two weeks later they see each other again. First one says hear Ethel how you getting on with that there toilet brush. Ethel replied. Well I'm persevering but the old man has gone back to paper

Very nice, be interested to see how it works out😊 the one on Utube with the 3000kv was fast , wonder what yours will be like. Just found out that the SIMON 12A esc will fit inside my nacelles, so decided to try that route. Like your idea as well. Chris

The problem is that you can't find the originals and when the do come up they are very expensive, the ones I got where supposed to be the same but didn't turn out the same, no power, hence brushless, just hoping to cut down on weight with the esc need 15a ones for the motor. Chris

Well after a bad test flite with the brushed motors, she managed to struggle 2ft in the air before stalling, luckily no damage, and this is with more uprated motors. After seeing 3 videos on Utube of this model going very well on 4x brushless umx motors 2500kv - 3000kv I've decided to do the same. I have the 4 motors on order from Micron Models, 4x 2500kv . Now the problem how can I conect to the esc , do I need 4? Is there an esc that I could use to run 4 motors like in a quad? I DON'T KNOW HOW , Can someone help please. Chris

Richard can PM me please

Thanks but I have 2 already one being a spare. But I'm still having brushed motor problems with mine ,not developing enough power. Thanks again Chris

Thanks for your help Denis, I shall have a word with the rest of the lads.

The problem is that where we fly our runway is a dirt track with some stones in places, I want to take off and land on it because the field either side is large rock hiden by a type of grass that can rip a foam a/c to bits, we fly fixed u/c mostly off it not to much trouble. OK the discussion that we had can we find a retract that won't be ripped out on landing, the Dynam one is a solid arm with a plastic leg cover, would a leg with a spring in the top be beter or is there anything out there on the market that could be used. Posted by P J Hearne on 11/02/2020 04:06:22: Thanks thats good to know. I am returning to model flight from several years ago when there was no AS3X so am keen to learn all I can about it. My Flight Simulator a Real Flight 9 would suggest my skills have improved though I have yet to test this for real at the flying field. I have rejoined my old Club and am hoping to get advice and instruction there soon. Have put together and progrmmed Tx for an Eflite Maule M7 though am worried its a bit large for transportation. I guess there is always preflight worries with this hobby. If you want to learn about SAFE.and AS3X, I suggest you love at this site, it's a dedicated site for people wanting to learn. RC GROUPS .COM. EFLITE SAFE RX IN ANOTHER PLANE. Sorry don't know how to past that on here. First page is about setup and then there's a lot of reading, ask your own questions. As I said I have learnt to fly with and without SAFE I find it a great piece of technology, but you have to learn what it can and not do. I have shown people who haven't flown how to fly with SAFE and they found it very easy to learn. We have a member here that's been flying for years, an experienced flyer with all types but even he struggles with a SAFE plane , you have to learn it. With mine I can take off , land fly fast and slow aircraft in very strong cross winds and turbulent winds which we get here. So don't be put off . LEARN about this technology and you will enjoy it.

I for one cannot fly without the use of SAFE, old age, arthritis. But I can use the beginner, intermediate on bad days, and on good days expert . We get a lot of cross wind coming off the sea and AS3X is a god send for me. I can do very good landings where thoughs without have trouble. SAFE is not a auto pilot, I agree with Kim on that, I have still had my share of crashes (pilot error ) it's just a good help for people like me. I had the basic instructions from a qualified flyer, then I got my Eflite sports cub and grew in confidence. I can now fly scale aircraft , with SAFE and enjoy myself. Sorry for going off the subject somewhat. Chris
-
SAFE works on high and low rates, if you are flying upside down you must be in experience mode, you cannot do that in beginner or intermediate in experience mode you have full control of the plane, the only thing that will keep working on all three modes is AS3X ( gyros ). Hope this helps.

Posted by Steve J on 05/02/2020 15:19:01: From the government publichealthmatters blog - "There is no current evidence to suggest that the virus can be transmitted from (post/packages/parcels) from China." Thank you for this, here in Cyprus we depend on rc goods from UK and China as we don't have good model shops in my part of the island. Chris
-
The question is, should we be worried about items coming from China, if so what precautions should we take.
-
Love to but our runway is also used by cars and people, Thanks anyway for your reply Chris
-
The UK is out, we will not be returning, we have retired here now. I live in lower Peyia / St George's. Thanks again Gary

I would like to add that takeoff and landing is no problem for us with aircraft of this size , it's the rough stony ground that can kill retracts, we have fixed u/c models. Thanks Chris
