Hi Sounds like I need to check with FUTABA, your edit has removed the answer but what you said makes some sense. These hi-tec tx's are great but sometimes sound too clever. Hey ho! S PS An old timer coming back to the hobby!

Thanks guys Helpful as always!

Hi Looking for help folks! Are these 2 interchangeable? I've got a T8J and just bought a R3008SB Think I've got it wrong? Thanks for help and guidance

Hi Depends on whether you want to do some balsa bashing, over the winter, the Super 60 and similar will be a rewarding build

Thanks both - useful feedback and points to watch for. The Modtech one was a wood fuss with foam coaming so not the same, not sure about the Aviomodelli. If I get one I' m planning on using an OS 61 RF so lots of power. I look forward to any other feedback. Models like this are a big commitment in time and money so keen to learn.

Hi Has anyone built one of these? I had a Modtech version many years ago and was wondering how this kit will be.

Absolutely appalling!

Hi Great looking Lanc & and Ionos. Keen to hear what you think of them, what sort of postage do you pay for these? They came from the Far East don't they? -
Hi Just browsing and found this thread. Does anyone know where you can get a plan for one of these? I had the smaller PFM model in the 80's and would be interested in building another.

Hi Martyn. Actually it's a DSM kit (from the 80's I guess) Had the larger one back then until someone switched on and "killed" it I was well happy with it up til then - it didn't survive the crash S

Hi Still working on my comeback but got the Joker 40 kit out of the loft yesterday to check it out ready for building! Looking forward to getting this in the air. S

Hi Can I check - can a buddy box arrangement work between transmitters of different makes?

Got mine today in WHS - looks like some very useful reminders and some very useful explanation on the electric motors in use today. (Need to learn more about batteries.) Good article on stripping down engines.

Ever wanted to get into or improve your aerobatics?

Hi Thanks for the feedback - interesting point on noise, I used to fly in the middle of a farm most of the time - but the OS 61RF breathing out through the tuned pipe seemed a lot quieter than my ST90 and Irvine 61 for example, does anyone have any idea how these stack up against new noise requirements. Thanks in advance -
Unbelievable!! Fantastic!!

Not excluding the smaller 46 size Saphir in my loft bought all those years ago! -

Hi Peter. It'll be a while yet but at some stage I will try and get back to it. I'm thinking though I have an old OS61RF (not the Prettner one) waiting to be sorted out. The Tx/Rx are being serviced at the moment. I have to say I like the look of the older style models more than the newer so when I do, it may be a Gangster first then an Illusion style model. But it's been 25 years I'd guess since I flew a model so a bit of back tracking first. -
Hi, sadly it does not appear to be available. I just booked a subscription by phone and asked about the special - was not available from the subs team. Searched MyHobbyStore and did not find it. A pity.

Brilliant to have found this thread. Used to fly F3A back in the 90's - not entered comps but remember well the concentration when practising. The Modtech Calypso which was my main aerobatic plane was so fast and required a great deal of concentration. Will be watching for more on aerobatics. -
Fascinating reading all the responses. At least Mode 1 is still out there and vibrant! In my gliding days it was aileron and elevator on the stick and feet on the rudder and turning in to land was 2 feet on the rudder, one hand on the aileron ( right hand) and left hand on the air brake. So sort of mode 1 given the pitch controls air speed. Back to models, I found I could fly Mode 1 for all my planes right up to F3A and train the more senior members on their vintage types using Mode 2. Including inverted to see how they went. Hopefully then I'll be OK on Mode 1 when I get back to it given that I'm looking to start with a "plodder" to get my hand eye coodination back. I have still got in my loft a "Hooligan" and a 46 size "Saphir" when I feel ready. Thanks for the feedback

Thanks that's good to know!

Well spotted, brain is a bit slower now. Yes I used to hold the left thumb at the base of the left stick (elevator) on long inverted passes at the same time having lateral control on the right stick. I only liked aileron and elevator on 1 stick when I was sitting in full size gliders. Hoping that when I start looking for a model club I can get help in Mode 1. Not happening for a while yet though. Found this interesting thread. I'm looking at re-starting and going through the various checks and sorting out. I used to fly in the nineties and always flew Mode 1. Not keen on changing over when I restart. I used to fly anything from Super 60s right up to F3A joker and Calypso. Always liked the ability to have rudder and ailerons on separate sticks as it felt "balanced" to me. I used to train some of the more senior members - now in the senior bracket myself. Is Mode 1 still in use in clubs now? It's sounding like everyone is going Mode 2 now.
