  1. I have a pre 2015 Taranis tx and some "x" receivers bought in the UK post Jan 2015and I was wondering if I might save myself some "flashing" if I were to buy an xjt module with the EU protocol from the UK agent and plug it into the back of my Taranis and switch from the rf in the tx for pre 2015 "x" receivers to the rf in the module as occasion demands. Would it work?
  2. The posting about the EU protocol was addressed to Hobbyking in HK.
  3. See this; gazunder 5 points - 4/14/2015 EU protocol If you supply me with an FRSKYx8r rx from HK will I have to upgrade it to be compatible with the EU protocol in England? Dave Drone flier  8 points I have bought more than one X8r rx for my Taranis from HK. Works fine, no differences at all. Eric  7 points Only if you have a Taranis TX with the EU protocol and If you want to use de X8R in D16 mode, you need to upgrade the firmware       Edited By Chris Bott - Moderator on 25/04/2015 20:40:03
  4. The ladies know how to cope with this problem! Many have a hobby called Beading which means they have to store hundreds of small coloured glass beads ranging from pinhead to pea size as well as different fastenings and they use storage devices sold in shops that specialise in BEADING. You ought to find out if there are any Beading clubs or shops in your area and have a look at what's is on offer. I use several of these beading storage devices for all my small items 3mm or less as well as for all the small and fiddly accessories such as stop ends, hinges, clevises and so on.
  5. Thanks Chris....everything is as you say. I poked around in various files that I did not know existed and I found the files I made using Speaker and Recorder. Thanks for your help. Ray McCarthy

    Taranis plus

I have set up some sound tracks using Opentx Recorder and Opentx Speaker for my Taranis plus TX but I am unable to transfer any of the sounds to my computer and thence to my TX. I can of course use Audacity to create the sound files I want and do it that way but it seems to me that the Open Tx programmes were designed for this but I have not been able to use them other than record the messages . Can any one guide me on Opentx Recorder and Speaker and show how to transfer the tracks to my computer?
  7. Have you tried these? Puffin also have a selection http://www.gliders.uk.com/Domed-Prop-Adaptors/products/127
  8. Ah Phil , I knew I couldn't put the old fitting back so I soldered the small antenna directly to the pin which was relatively easy but as soon as it was moved the land came off the board and detached itself. The heat melted the fixative . If I could have got some glue on it soon enough it would have been OK. I have consigned the rx to a park flyer where it performs ok and no bother to anyone. Thanks for your help. I suppose what has surprised me about all this is to discover that the FASST antennae are a clip fixing rather than a soldered connection .
  9. Thanks Phil....I still have the old aerial with the brass connector on it..as in the photo. Presumably can simply remove the brass connector and use the remaining aerial wire ? Mac
  10. I haven't the faintest idea of how to send a photo on this web site
  11. The aerial clips on to a small round brass ferrule which was soldered to the land. when the aerial clip detached itself it tore off the small brass connector from the land. The aerial itself is ok, its just that it looks as though it would need a surgeon to reattach the brass fitting. It might be possible to attach the aerial directly to the land but I think it would need a much smaller iron than I have. I'lll try to post a snap some time tomorrow.
  12. I have been successfully using an frsky 8 channel fasst receiver which is installed with two aerial on different axis. This seems a normal setup for fasst receivers which apparently sample the signals at each aerial. Unfortunately one of my aerials became detached from the circuit board complete with the mounting ferrule so I cannot replace it without a repair in excess of the economic value if the unit. Any how I tried flying with just one aerial in place and there appeared to be no change in the function of the receiver or it's performance. It performed just as well as with two aerials. Question is....is this an acceptable configuration for a fasst receiver ?
  13. Thank you C8....I think I understand the theory but the charger is supposed to do the work for me....according to the stuff from Ripmax. I have the feeling that the charger is doing what it says on the box but it is not telling me the result. The info on p13 of the manual is what you get...."Input voltage"...."Output voltage" nothing more. I expected, as you do, it would be no more than a one click operation ho hum
  14. Hi! I have an EQ Touch 90w and on p13 of the manual it shows the mode for measuring the internal resistance of the battery. It shows the input voltage and output voltage but presumably I should also be measuring the current in some way and then do the maths. Any help would be appreciated. What would be the optimum/worst range of resistances for 2,3,and 4 cell batteries and would it vary much with state of charge?
  15. Hi kevin I suppose people buy many things for different reasons reasons Can you post a link to the ebay feature you mention which will save me so much spondulix? That would assist greatly.
  16. Went into Smiths found the latest issue sealed in plastic. Couldn't' see the plans so I didn't buy the mag.
  17. I often wonder why the publisher does not offer a voucher as a reward for new subscriptions which could be redeemed for, or as a contribution towards some of the excellent publications put out by the Group.....particularly the model plans. Most of the "gifts" have no incentive value at all. It would be doing everyone a favour....even the publisher and give the subscriber an element of choice.
  18. I smile when I skim through the postings because I still can't cope with the new fangled coinage.
  19. Hi Tom I would like a set of blades in due course......RayMac
  20. Terry thanks for that I'll press on....Come to think of it one of my old masters was a Whiting and he certainly wasn't related. RayMac
  21. For Terry Whiting.....any connection with Carlisle Rd Portsmouth?
  22. Hi Tom I have started the SFH from your PDF but the layout for the control rods to the rotor head foxed me. It occurred to me that the system is known as "pull"-"pull" , one I have never used. Reading about it suggests that in order to function properly the control arms, servo arm, and control arm (horns) should be a parallelogram and even then the "following" arm (the "pusher) will slacken in operation. I realise that you and many of your followers have built and flown Craneflies successfully, based on your notes so perhaps my "concern", if you can call it that, is pointless.....do the tolerances in the build compensate for any issues that could arise from having rigid control rods operating around different radii?
  23. The splines on the drive shaft appear to be brass. I usually associate brass with a brittle tendency to shear easily. In fact I recently installed a metal geared (brass) servo and inadvertently obstructed the travel of the servo arm, the splines sheared on the shaft and the plastic spline on the arm remained intact. Is it common for metal gears in servos to be made from brass? I wonder whether there are better alternatives?
  24. Thanks Pete, I would never have thought of t hat! The kit is very impressive. Raymac
  25. Can any one tell me what the red ribbon is for which was packed with the control horns ?
