  1. Ignore the negativity Jon, I've enjoyed following this second chance at life for the OS and your clear explanations. 20 years in F1 could have been catering for all we know
  2. I stand for the cutting and gluing etc, sit for jobs like soldering.
  3. Or it's not an issue. I haven't seen any conclusive studies with results and the link above is anecdotal at best.
  4. The aerials are completely inside the fuselage, not even in the canopy.
  5. I've been flying a model covered ompletely in chrome profilm for couple of years with no issues at all.
  6. There are many options so expect different answers. East Coast Fibreglass do several and their service is excellent. My preferred choice at the moment is from EasyComposites and can be had in small quantities: https://www.easycomposites.co.uk/#!/resin-gel-silicone-adhesive/epoxy-resin/EL2-epoxy-laminating-resin.html
  7. I'd recommend sending away for it, better results and easier working. It's the one consistent theme in the advice.
  8. How big is the cowl Erflog, that will have a bearing? Personally I'd start with 2 layers of 200g twill and go from there, maybe some additional local reinforcement where the mounting screws go. Also, why polyester? It's heavy, brittle and poor working time. Epoxy all the way
  9. The above holds true for long ducts, for short ones on things like airliners they're best left open.
  10. Neil, it's to do with surface area and form drag. A few years ago a back to back test was done on the Orme with an EDF Hunter, propulsion removed. Initially the intakes were open but the model struggled to build any momentum. The intakes were then covered with tape and performance was significantly better. Same model and conditions otherwise.
  11. Can I suggest an admin moves this thread into a 'general' section? This part of the forum is supposed to be for PSS mass build discussions. Edited to add: ......or better yet close it as this topic has been done to death. Edited By Callsign Tarnish on 04/02/2020 09:08:30
  12. Bruce, if you're local to Oxfordshire I'm happy to help.
  13. Personally I really liked your camo one so I'd be cracking on with that! Plenty of camo Hurricanes flown from the last mass build without any issues. Plenty of time too, they seem to go together pretty quickly from what I've seen on here.
  14. If anyone wants one of these I'm not going to get around to mine, still new in box, can take to Gaydon next Sunday.
  15. There are loads of proper outdoor models <250g, many of the 60" DLG's are and I've just built an aerobatic sloper, String from Silencemodel.fr, with an auw of 235g.
  16. Definitely polyester, every one I saw including mine cracked in the same place. They weren't 30 years old though....
  17. Posted by Alan Gorham_ on 10/09/2019 12:31:16: Interesting stuff, but what a pity you've placed in someone's personal build blog for an Italian Sabre. Perhaps an email direct to the magazine editor might have been more relevant... I agree, what an utterly pointless post and way to ruin someone's blog. " I am unable to let this matter pass without comment"..........................you should have, it's petty.
  18. Buy cheap, buy twice. Get a Dremel, you've probably spent more on cheap copies, false economy.
  19. I've flown many 26's, smaller, same size and bigger and I love them. The radial cowl does increase drag but what's nice is that on the down lines it doesn't build speed as quickly so you can fly all manoeuvres at a reasonably constant speed. Don't expect it to be as fast as an Edge / Extra etc. The same characteristic means you need to keep some power on for the final portion of the approach otherwise the rate of speed decline can accelerate and catch you out. I still have one of these in a box so interested to hear how you get on.
  20. Buddy box, does thou not trust thy fellow modellers? Martin, looks a nice model, could be interested but a couple of questions, will the design allow it to be built without flaps as my experience has show they add weight more than benefit on small models and secondly, could I modify it for top drive on the ailerons as I'd worry the linkages would be damaged on the underside of a low wing slope model? Will there be a laser cut short kit as per previous mass builds, release date etc?
