Forum members' new models: Let's see them.
Peter Miller replied to Paul Marsh's topic in All Things Model Flying
There is a bit of a problem. I am having trouble recovering some of the construction pictures and then I have to modify the plans which I used as they are for the 42" span model for i.c.. I know that Kevin wants them but it may take a while. I can say that it is 48" span and weighs 32 ounces. -

That is great Video. It proves that we don't disturb wildlife. I have a Mobious camera. I must fit that and see what I can get -

Funny that they go for a green one!! I can tell you that the MAK is a pig to build which is probably why they never used the plan. -

I thought that it w as. They have a family living in the woods nearby, have done for years. Yesterday there was some discussion as the which it was. I thought it was a Red Kite. One of them once attacked my MAK 15 MP which, as you can see looked very rd kite like -

Got this picture cropped. It was taken by club member Michael Morris. The buzzards often join us and are not normally bothered by the models. -
Mick KIng test flew his Hound Dog and loves it.

A super afternoon and two new models test flown successfuly My Velie Monocoupe going over the top of loop. Cruiing past....It really needs a pilot!!! Mick King's Hound dog, also flew well. -
I am not sure about being in the magazine. I lost a lot of the construction photos and have been trying to get them back off the memory card. Also doing the modifications and creating the new version of the plan is not exciting me. It is an enlargement of one of my old designs, the Velie Monocoupe. I did start a build blog but seem to be suffering from a chronic failure of the zeal!!!

Michael is maidening his original small Peggy Sue and Mick is maidening his own Hound Dog. Should be an interesting afternoon.

That is great. As they say "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!!" You have done a great job. I shall look forward to hearing how the test flights went. If you are anywhere near East Anglia the weather should be good tomorrow for test flying. I am test flying a new model tomorrow too.

When we first came to live in the lane that I still live in (1967) the potholes were terrible.Everyone had been complaining for ages. I painted a sign saying "Vimy Ridge. Beware of mud and shell holes" I stuck it up late at night as I came home from late shift on night and phoned the local news paper. They took photos and published them. Within a couple of weeks they had been repaired. Of course that was when councils actually took notice.

I have used clear, self adhesive inkjet vinyl to do my CAA numbers. it works well. I must try some of the white as that look very useful.

NJR Mirus 40 (Ken Stokes design)

I had both sizes. The .25 size version was in a vertical dive and refused to pull out. We worked out that the elevator pushrod wire was too thin and there was no support to stop it bowing so the elevator didn't move! The model went straight through a very large, tall tree....VERTICALLY. The ST25 was a write off, never mind the shredded balsa!! -
The Ohmen is smaller and lighter and very, very agile. Hound dog is probably about the same as Oodalally. I think it would be a toss up which is better.
-
The power set up is perfect. My first take off was straight into a vertical climb.

Just finished and test flown my electric conversion of my Oodalally. Fitted with the recommended 4-Max set up the performance is far better than the original SC32 powered version -
I would just comment that a Sea Vixen belongs to the Fleet Air Arm so searching for an RAF logo is not going to find it

Is this the one? Pyramid models could adapt it to your requirements

At St Mawgan wehad the WRAFs postedin when St Eval closed down so no one was used to them on the station. One chap was walking across the hangar and saw his mate bending over a crate of parts. As he passed he slapped his mate on the backside and said "How's that for centre?" As he walked on he heard "AIRMAN!!!".He looked back and it was a large WRAF Sargent!!!

These days I find difficulty in starting from scratch so I have gone back to old subjects. I have chosen to enlarge and electrify my Velie Monocoupe from my 1995 plan. It now has a span of 48" for a small electric motor. it will b very light and quite a build BUT it will be pretty economical. Basic sides built from 1/8" sq Spruce 1/64" ply doublers with grain vertical and light ply formers Fuselage basically built. Battery will sit almost vertically behind F-1 Battery hatch between undercarriage legs. Wing held down with 4mm nylon bolts. Servo rails seen in front of rear former, battery platform with Velcro mount shown. Underside of cabin area Wing construction is simple but cutting out all those ribs is tedious specially when you ad the nose ribs
