  1. I can confirm that the DH2 flies very well. I built my DH2 from Depron. 57 inches span and 2.3 kilos. I don't go much on detail as my interest is in scratch building my own designs of different airframes and comparing the different flight characteristics, so I prefer to be getting on with the next model. You can see my DH2 in my albums and on Youtube if you wish. Good luck with the model Matt. It looks very nice.   Edited By Michael Barclay on 08/04/2020 09:19:08
  2. Posted by Ron Gray on 02/04/2020 09:45:28: I'm afraid not, I spoke to HK support yesterday and they said (and in writing too!) that the EU warehouse are only posting to local addresses only, not to the UK and that applies to everything! I tested this by ordering a non battery item and sure enough it wouldn't allow it through due to no postage options for the UK. This is the message you get: Edited By Ron Gray on 02/04/2020 09:51:02 Looks as though I got the motor just in time then Ron.... Mike
  3. Posted by Ron Gray on 01/04/2020 12:50:38: Further to the above posts about HK, I tried to order some small LiPos from the EU warehouse, always OK in the past but now they are saying that they are not shipping to UK. Not sure if this is just for LiPos? That must only apply to the lipos as a motor I ordered from Hobby King 5 days ago arrived 9am this morning. Mike, Edited By Michael Barclay on 02/04/2020 09:33:49

I usuall get stuff within 5 days. Thanks Michael - I was kind of thinking what traders at home in the UK were still around but it’s valid that HK is open in Holland if that’s the case. It’s my understanding there are major delays importing because flights that are not running. Have you ordered since the lock down? I know many orders with Chinese Suppliers are months overdue because production in China has been affected. The virus originated in the ROC so they have been badly affected in some industrial areas. We have supplies from China and Tony Ray Aeromodel co is only just returning to work having been off work since January . it would be helpful if you could tell us if you have ordered in the last two weeks and did you get your orders ? Steve Hi Steve. I ordered an electric motor for my new build late on the 28th of March. It arrived at 9am this morning. Hope this helps. Mike.

  6. Lots of simple builds on flight test site such as the Pietenpol which would be easy to convert to Depron. Should fly in small area if you keep it light.

The govt have stated the rules that we must adhere to for the time being. Those rules allow going out once per day, alone or with other members of your household, for exercise or for a few other essential reasons. If you argue that flying your model is exercise then so will the anglers and kite-flyers and photographers and... you get the drift. Tim. So if I take my daily exercise as I do by walking to the field where no one else will be flying, spending an hour enjoying myself and walking home where is the harm in that. Indeed as I live alone it may just keep me sane.

Seems the Departement Finnistere has issued guidlines amongs which are " when seeing a friend in the street please do not hug him, shake hands, embrace, or kiss." From my fifteen years experience of living in France I just know they will find this so difficult!
  9. Why close the field? Surely it should be up to individual members who should be able to fly if they wish and keep away if they feel there is a risk. Perhaps the members who voted to close the field are those who feel it's too risky and want to stop eveyone elses enjoyment as well, or perhaps those members who only fly in fine weather anyway. We live in a nanny state and now it seems we have nanny clubs.
  10. I scratch built 3 WW1 fighters over the winter months and thought those who have not tried Vector Board might appreciate my opinion although others might not agree. Normally I build in 6mm Depron with wings covered in 50 gram glasfibre, but a club member kindly gave me a sheet of 6mm Vector Board to try. I found it to be very useful. Vector Board will flex without fracturing, does not tear easily, and is much more resistant to surface damage. I found the downside to be that it is not quite as easy to work with as Depron It requires more frequent changes of knife blades to ensure clean cuts. Glue joints using Uhu por or epoxy need a little more care to ensure a good bond. I do not find paint bonds quite as well as it does to Depron and more work is required to attain a nice finish. I also found that it picks up dirt easily so definately needs painting. I will definately use on all my fuselages in the future but will continue to use GRP covered Depron for the wings. This i because Vector Board does not lend itself to my method of building wings in a jig as it does not have the required rigidity.
