  1. Funny we have had a few 'lock outs' lately at less than 100 metres, Futaba 8channel ( the new one ) both the rx ariels were touching in a 26cc petrol Chipmunk, it turned around the model field and the lucky beggar got it back and landed it. Spectrum Dx 6 or 8, electric Bushmaster ( ? ) took off ok landed with the rudder channel reversed,,,( third problem with different spectrum radios all flying electrics ) Graupner MX 12 in an electric flying wing radio lost at 100 metres landed in the grapevines and never found,,at
  2. Oh dear am I the only one still adding caster ( 1°/2° ) oil in my engines, 2 strokes, 4 strokes even a Laser ?, and my helicopter engines and at 35°c on the model field,,, So do you want some Caster oil David ?,,,?
  3. Lets start a crowd Funding, not the same but I do have around 100 kilos of salt for my pool, any help,,, As till now a silent reader, thanks for all of your posts Jon,,,
  4. Weight announced 3.9k with a fixed undercarriage, my final weight with out lead ( not needed ) 5 k, each wing just under 1 kilo each.
  5. 11 / 7 will go !, 11 connectors into my 7 channel receiver, with an afternoons soldering and some heat sink, finished off with my hot glue gun,,, I use Multiplex plugs with 6 contacts, one for the battery - another for the + and 3 others for the servo signal wire, a spare for lights or a bomb drop ? The engine choke needs finishing and some weighing done, then an engine ground run with and without the engine cowling. why do I have to use this / for dividing, did keyboard 'experts' forget to put a proper divide sign in ?.
  6. I ordered the male / female 8 plug Multiplex plugs for the wings, 3 Y leads for them and another y lead is necessary to power the receiver,, The arms are all in place, the rockets for the moment are only clipped in.
  7. The instructions are missing a lot so I b***d up the fitting of the two bombs, ?(more haste less speed ?) still under the wing no one will notice, if you want to know hos they "should" be fitted ask and I will try to tell you,, all glued with white cockpit glue, it's 41° on my terasse and not much less in the garage so it will dry overnight. The mark on the orange tape is the Balance point 10cm from the front of the wing, it looks like I wont need any lead ?
  8. Oh silly me,,,I for once read the instructions and started too soon,, Going back to the control horns, I built the Seagull Messerschmitt BF 109 and only had one receiver channel free for the flaps so I dug out the flap a couple of centimetres so that the control horn lined up with the other side of the servo so that just a Y lead would do the job, lucky for me a friendly club member "donated' a servo reversing module so all is going back on track with a Y lead. Look at the photo and the plain black wire this is where it should be with a horn lined up with it.
  9. The pilot was epoxied in and then the Bubble. Elastic's, tape and a few bits of wood and some good old Cockpit glue,,, And this afternoon between fiddling with my new Helicopter Canopy and the odd swim,,,?
  10. No I used to buy a lot and white was the cheapest,,
  11. Non, it came to a fiery end, a friend 3D printed it I waited 3 weeks and it took him around 2 days to print so I passed this time, sadly this is what is now in, maybe a bit of touch up painting. I took another photo of the pilot,, Why the engine mouldings are originally painted black and the valve pushrods white I will never know !.
  12. Knackered after a couple of weeks at over 35°c and 30°c in my garage, precision isn't something that I am worried about, I cut the engine cowling out and leaving plenty of room for ventilation, and I have started cutting out the false engine, why is it painted black ?, a sneak view of my old 3D printed Hellcat engine that was shot down by a moving tree ,
  13. I use a spring to keep the clunk in place, a jubilee clip to make sure that in 6 months the tank doesn't leak, and the Engine is bolted on.
  14. Maybe they had made a load of stickers before reading History books, ? I can't find any complete builds, I wonder how much lead I will need in the nose,,,
  15. A friend has the Chipmunk, he put some silicone tube on his, not perfect, ever one to his own,,,, I cut some 3mm ply to reinforce where the fuselage servos are screwed into some cheap ply, funny enough the wings have been reinforced,
  16. Yes they date from 1984 when I got them to hold down the leading and trailing edges of my samba / epoxy skinned foam wings, they did more than 40 pairs in 3 years, so they have paid for themselves,,,? Hinges placed, all 36 screws,,,,
  17. I am not very happy with the flap hinges, so a drop of oil and then the 'dimples' of plastic are melted flat with a cleaned soldering iron to rivet them so that they wont move.
  18. Control horns sanded and for good measure a 3mm hole for the epoxy to keep it in, I use a 1.5mm piano wire to line them up and a square of ply to mage sure that they are all at the same height, just as well as the control horns aren't exactly accurate.
  19. For the silent 'watchers',,, The retracts are sorted they will be fitted when the wings are finished and the wheel bays are painted, grey or green ?. After landing my Twin Saito powered Bristol Beau-fighter with one aileron hanging off I no longer use tissue hinges on petrol or methanol powered planes, So after checking that they fit, marked out and the opening sealed with my soldering iron and the pivots of the hinges oiled, and the plastic sanded they are now being epoxied in ( 30 min )
  20. Thanks, On some sites they have a counter on the pictures so you can see if anyone out there is watching,, I will give it a go and see what happens,,,
  21. No one interested David, so I will just carry one and forget posting,,,
  22. Cutting out for the retracts, I got this handy tool for 29€, the blue tape is for the depth so not to go too far, opened out for my HK modified to twist and turn, i added some ply ( bottom of the picture ) to get them in.
