  1. New spray bar kit arrived today. Looks brilliant and will fit and test in a week or so. Thanks for the heads up guys. Michael Crisp, thanks, good service.
  2. Yep, always pre flight check, even valley gets that wrong on occasion... Nose up full throttle etc etc etc... A ready built will need a lottery win... Good idea about servo orientation and movement direction is a good idea.... All my model planes have same position and operation, just a thing I like to do...from the days of non servo reversing...
  3. More than 1 model memory would be nice but I have very limited funds.   Each model would be trimmed out with the tx trims, then adjusted mechanically, in theory at least.   A note book with each individual models trim needs would surfice, but then again it's all down to cost really. 4. Gary, would that be Bangor North Wales, and you in the cockpit in a hawk?
  5. Thanks for the reply Dennis. Some more research to do on this such as will it drive the standard Futaba servos and the 6 channel spectrum Rx, the next Rx up from the 410...
  6. Anyone got one of these, any problems ?  Mode 1?   Edited By Rich Griff on 10/01/2021 19:06:43
  7. Anyone successfully ran a 2t model engine with petrol? I did a bench test on a Magnum gp40, well run in. It ran well on petrol ( may have been leaded or LRP at the time, 1990's ) with 2t oil at about 15 to one and the glow permanently powered. It was an experiment to see if it would. I know you can get miniature spark plugs that fit the glow heads....
  8. Yep, that's the advert that sold this helo to me, and many others I suspect.   Anyways, I re emailed Geoff at Perkins this morning and had a reply this afo saying they/he e mailed me yesterday, but it's not on my phone anywhere.   No matter.   Today's reply asked if I was doing auto take off from the floor, yes. He also said that the throttle trim was a "mode change" function ? Doesn't mention that in the manual. He said that there "test" one also moved to the left on auto take off. He has asked for a video of an auto take off etc. but I will need the lads help with that one, to film and attach to an e mail. It was dry and warmer and virtually breezeless this morning so was gunna go to the football field ( it's big enough ) but covid prevented such. The covid report today clearly shows covid progress along the A55, with a red dot in peny, about a mile from home.   Stay safe dudes. Edited By David Ashby - Moderator on 22/01/2021 16:13:49
  9. Thanks for the replies, will research both films mentioned, but price is important due to limited financial funds.
  10. Solar film have lite span in the colours I want and have balsa lock, so happy days. They only have solar film seconds in the colours I want.... What is the modern equivalent to solar film please, and/or what do you use, a film rather than a Tex.
  11. Hi Trevor, take your time with it. When it's ready to fly, link the throttle and set the gyro's.   Check the trims are central ( trim 1 bleep, then back opposite way to hear long bleep. Do this for all trims, did the throttle trim bleep at all ?   When done, hold the helo and press button A, auto take off. You will " feel" any out of trim. Set throttle for very slight climb, then trim out for hover. Mine seems to need 15 bleeps right aileron and 10 rear elevator at hover rotor speed.   If you hook your finger and thumb thru one of the skids, you will feel any out of trim. When trimmed for the hover ( change in rotor speed unsets trim ) I gradually gave the helo more "freedom".   Eventually I just let go and it did hover for a minute but was not rock steady. You really need a sports hall for still air and airspace. Do not fly outside as they tend to disappear quickly. Take your time. Still waiting for reply from Perkins about the office test of one taken from stock. Will let you know the outcome. Edited By David Ashby - Moderator on 22/01/2021 16:13:08
  12. I have had an e mail reply from Perkins who distribute this helo, basically saying what is says in the helo manual.   I have replied outlining the problem again and suggesting they ( Geoff, customer service ) take one from stock and try it themselves/him self.   I will wait for the reply.   Perhaps it's time to do a review of this helo on here?   Any others of you on here get one for Xmas and how does it perform ? 13. Seen pics and even a built up rib wing, add ailerons and rudder and RC it!
  14. Thanks for the heads up, my cheapo t co internet will not open pdf files, so will have to wait until libraries open to view and print off. Will do a Google search....
  15. Just been there, very interesting.... All things are easy when you know how, an address is also handy.
  16. Barton web site? And free flight web site ? Please could you provide the addresses please so I can have a look see. I seem to spend hours going in circles on the internet.
  17. Yeah I suppose so, attention span of gold fish and needing hourly button fix.....instant gratification. Let's face it half the kids these days couldn't find there way out of a paper bag never mind actually make anything.....what a country we now live in. Yep, get up too quickly and fall over... I think us olduns are made from different stuff, and like proper music like pink Floyd and pink fairies, along with a bit of Vaughan Williams and Mozart etc.....which is probably exactly what our parents said eh.
  18. Hi E.D. pm and e mail sent.
  19. True...a great mag, but not everyone on here ( the whole world can visit etc. ) is a Bmfa member....   I suppose the clue could be in the name, RCM and e...   Can't find a free flight section either....real skill needed for that.....   Edited By Rich Griff on 03/01/2021 14:44:55
  20. There does not seem to be a Control Line section on here ? Is that part of the hobby dead ? Have fond memories of Cox, stuka, fledgling, cosmic summit, kk champ, phantom and mite, radian, demon, plastic hurricane, Veron summit and lots of others....aeromodeling free plans galore. Storing mates new in box cosmic summit as well as pair of combat kits with new engines...he wants to try combat, was a free flight in his very early teens and even appeared in aeromodeling, a Londoner at the time. Control line section anyone ?
  21. RM, payed them £6 or so registered post only for them to loose all trace of the package, it disappeared ! Worked for m,/c mail order firm, similar problem, the area sorting office was 200metres away, and yes quite a few bikers worked there....draw your own conclusion...
