  1. Wwww, sounds interesting Peter, another thing to chase up in library on Monday. Thanks in advance...
  2. Absolutely.... Maybe a thread all of its own, but some will only moan. Maybe for a different forum perhaps... The kit is probably only as good as the programmers imagination/experience... The programmer probably never ever considered the possibility of two insulated wires ever contacting each other, in real life, when it rains... The dam car would even dead lock us in the car on occasion. Thank god the rear passenger windows were mechanical and not electrical ! Nice car we like but effectively priced off the road, insurance rip off.
  3. Hi toto, never be afraid to ask ! Have a great day, the white stuff has disappeared here only to be replaced by the wet stuff, grrrrrrrrrrrr
  4. Is the Helo the Medi Helo, the bo 105 ? It's great isn't it ! Rcme mag.... Manon rules... Adverts equals Manon,,,perhaps ? Of course, my joining of the dots may produce a completely incorrect picture.
  5. I must say that the app and hardware available these days for clever phones, costing very little money, that can interigate and change modern computer cars systems, is fantastic really. Equivalent to a rolling road....in your hand ( as a passenger ! ). Having said that, fault codes can be very misleading... Is there an app to make a phone a tachometer ?
  6. Morton's email about wanting to make the mags better....on my mobile phone. I wonder what my reply told them.
  7. You have to "swipe" the screen in modern mobile phones to gain access etc. etc. etc ..... I saw s young lad ( 3 year old ) and his mum in the library some time ago. The lad had a kids book in his hand and was swiping the pages and shaking/ moving the book about as if it was a mobile and hunting a signal...... The amount of expensive phones I see sticking out of sprayed on jeans back pockets....do those phones bend ? Even kids out in Africa have mobile phones.... Yes they are very usefull ( researching a decibel meter app ), excellent camera and microphone etc. But not a status symbol to me. My first mobile phone I still have and it still works, not used as priced out by a greedy phone company that I had been with since 1986 I think it was, a reverse robin hood. I am using my second cheapo Tesco phone, the battery died on the first. I do not need an all singing all dancing mobile, but one that can talk to a laptop ( freebee old dell Inspiron with mint software ) for the larger screen would be better. We are all different....but please think of the planet, only recycle your phone when you have to rather than fashion etc..
  8. Yep, terrorists taking out the cell masts using drones no doubt. Still, jobs for us a "fighters" taking out the baddy drones perhaps....now that would be fun.
  9. Some years ago now ( new scientist in the 90's from memory ) there was a scare about mobile phone signals possibly causing "heating issues" of our mark 1 eye balls, being normally used close to our eyes. Our lecturer set up and experiment using a mobile and scope. The results were quite shocking at the time... A mobile sitting next to the TV used to make the TV go a bit berserck when the network "phoned in" to locate the phone. This does not seem to happen as much these days, but it still happens. Basic Comms for me, crap internet signal here....camera is usefull, need to investigate an audio "decibel meter".... Cheapo Tesco £10 a month jobby. Any more cost and the thing would have to be able to make the toast 😸
  10. Rcg, jeti, tx settable ? Powerbox, whatever that is... Probably mega expensive stuff...... Probably would not have prevented above motor burn outs.....hay ho, fun stuff with electric propulsion...... Fuses from ESC to motor.....a possibility ? Those Motors are only £14 plus each......
  11. Thanks for the heads up on that test method eb, thanks.
  12. Did that con rod have a swastika symbol cast in ?
  13. I still consider myself to be a tyro with electric propulsion, so please forgive me if my question is daft.... If a separate battery is used to power the RC Rx, ESC control and servos, could a suitable quick blow fuse be used between propulsion battery and ESC as a protection device against high current load ? High current load of the type that burns out motors and ESC's...an overload... On motor start up and full power demand, "current" spikes may occur in the propulsion system system effectively blowing the fuse ? I fit fuses to my electric powered boats ( slow speed ) but they have burgler alarm type batteries ( 10ah, 6 volt ) and dc motors ( 540 buggy type motors ).some have NiMH car racing pack batteries as propulsion power. I use seperate Rx battery...no weight or volume problems.... Thanks...
  14. I think this thread is going to be very interesting, to some at any rate..... True story, the summer of 76, heading home from Cornwall, 10am start on a honda cb125s, 7 k revs all the way..... Screaming down tintern abbey hill head light blows, no matter I have dip beam... Ludlow, Chucky chicken, welshpool road, I keep thinking the is a car or something behind me.... Very dry with tall crops in the fields....I look round behind me to see a large cloud if sparks ! I look down to see the front exhaust pipe from the cylinder head to the silencer glowing YELLOW hot !!! Got home to the pub by 10pm for a few pints.... Oh what we do when we are young and invincible eh. 😁 Ynt15k where are you ? I hope you are alive and well ? Should never have sold that bike, or the velo's, or the b31 or d7 etc. etc. etc...... Now I'm riding around on a honda nightmares ( tax and mot exempt ). I had enough of them things in the eighties, wet dreams....but it does get me and a small sloper up the hill even if it's on the cold side at the moment... Virgin snow is passable on a bike at 5mph ish, compacted snow is lethal. Jap bikes, great, until a moron owner "fixes" them....kept me in work for years... Reliable, not the wet dreams, CDI and grannies due overnight, and that was in the day. Expect ign problems with them these days, old wires/coils in a hot engine ( a dry chamber in theory ), drain hole tends to let in water being not at the lowest point, fuel tank similar....I could go on.......
  15. Interesting but no doubt some will moan.... Mass produced stuff literally gets spat out of the factory door with little to no time for rectification.... Faults get picked up either at pdi ( even then the dealer won't fix the problem, ask me how I know ) or by customer return.... This car smells to high heaven...escort, workers lunch under rear seat, vw golf, a/con condensation hose "hole" missing in floor pan...diesel misfire and smoky engine, phenomenal cyl bore wear on one cylinder, con rod cylinder thrust side oil hole missing, mitsubishi.....seen during a service well after pdi inspection, one valve spring up side down honda nightmares....ford v4 factory replacement engine noisier than the worn out engine it's replaced, incorrect main bearings fitted.....the list goes on. That triumph, special attention from competition dept. which is why it was so good ? That britool socket set, made in England rather than Italy. Silverline 1/2 inch drive hex metric socket sets are very good and would complement the set very well. Whitworth and BSF, worth hanging onto if you need those sizes....I have my dad's old set. Honda nightmares, 250/400/450, sohc twin, stupid method with head bolts, the 4 centre ones open to outside world so they suffer. Corroded in bolts, the r/h/side ones usually. Owners not paying attention and using sealer which gets into c/case threaded holes which then bursts the hole....so often seen. Thank god for aeromodeling...apart from toprc...........the only thing I have ever had a problem with, 3 times !...all returned and sorted. A different bag of sweets for a different thread for a different day, the mark 2 spit and 109.
  16. RR...... Hylomar, the blue stuff, no...........or any of the other types......blocked oil ways, oil pick up pipe mesh filters, burst holes......
  17. Nice one Geoff... Most of my biking these days involves honda nightmares ! Why they have cult status these days is beyond me, even an mz is a better bike. I'm talking 1980's bikes... Anyway, back to rcme stuff.
  18. Dad's and grand dad's are great ! 3 year apprentaship these days and they think they know it all ! I did 5..... How come it took him 2 hours to fail to remove those brake drums but took me 20 seconds to remove them ! He used his gob more than his eyes. "I can't see any holes grandad !!! ", No relation to me what so ever. I can see four from here I said..... Off he goes in a hufff.... "How did you get those off!!!' he asks when he came back.... Using my eyes I said. I got a lot more respect from him after that. Tied, a mark of respect.....
  19. Yeh, small ball pian hammer... The most usefull hammers are the small ones..... These days it's pen, scissors and those self centering wood drills, the one with the spike. Just don't do it on a mouseman or similar ! I still have the hole punches and the craft hole cutter of many sizes. Us olduns eh, make do and menders, unless it's a new product that's faulty, I send them back !
  20. Photon damage....even sun shining on a cardboard box containing a plastic hull, plastic hull was discoloured on the side facing the sun.....
  21. Hi ken, please elaborate please ...don't know of that method unless the "bowl" of the spoon did the marking/cutting ? Intregreeged...
  22. Yep, but the glazed surface of some cereal boxes cam cause issues....even had to use a thickish brown envelope paper for an unobtainable zenith carb gasket i think it was, worked a treat. For many many many years have been using that sheet of brown card found in banana boxes ( as well as the banana boxes for storage, some supermarkets give you points for taking them ! ). Also works a treat. Saves many pounds for often removed bike engine cover gaskets that tear. New gaskets made, glued onto cover, greased and cover refitted. Grease saves a gasket tear on next cover removal. They stay oil tight. New oe green gaskets for flywheel cover and clutch cover are about £6 and £8 each plus vat and carriage these days... Some banana boxes come with a foam sheet these days. Never tried the silicone oil method yet.
  23. Spotted yesterday, an interesting little ditty on the coxengineforum about home made gasket paper... May prove useful to some on here.....
  24. Thanks Andy...ladybird arrived yesterday, thanks Lawrence, so off to library to undertake complete handbook printed off. Sixty odd pages at 20p a go..... I have checked the box so updates will be emailed as and when, wonderfull. Also spotted a couple of other documents I need to update myself with.... I only take my bmfa membership/insurance papers and the quick start reminder sheets with me to the day's flying site. I have the quick start sheets on the fridge ( by the bike safe "rap sheet", thanks pc moon ), to aid " mental digestion"..... I know you guys( bmfa ) are very busy on our behalf so won't hassle you un necessarily. Cheers Andy.
