  1. Nice one Jon.... Being a greasy fingered motorcyclist often helps 😃
  2. Hi toto, wilco.... Did you get the instruction sheets you need, and watch the PAW vidio. Fuel tank in vidio ( unless paw has posted a new vidio ) Yes it's a diesel, look at the vidio.... In the day idle bar glow plugs were available. I have never come across and idle bar come off, but that does not mean others have not. Enya no. 3 is a pretty much go to plug for very general use, and would probably be fine for your application, but, check engine info sheet/engine web site. If you gunna "begin" with the force engine, post pictures of it and the exact model info, it had a rear remote main needle valve ? Mmmmm, paw diesels can be monsters, as can glows..... Just because the prop is mincing your fingers does NOT mean the engine will stop ? What are the exact model petrol engines please ? Have a great day, it's much whiter here today. I expect to see an igloo in the village on the bus ride to town...
  3. Sorry......GG, @GrumpyGnome.....
  4. Hi toto, Put your IC hat on when you have a fully working electric foamy....... Did your force engine come with operating instructions ? If not, GG had the instructions for that engine I think. From memory he has the same force engine ? I am sure he will chip in to clarify and help out...all in good time. I know he very kindly supplied the instruction to me as the instruction sheet for the smaller marine engine I purchased were missing....so at least I had something from force to work with. Thanks GG Eventually I got some instructions from force, j Perkins the importer and from an RC boat forum. I think the force websight will also have the instruction sheet etc..for your engine. They may have even by know the instruction sheet for the 20 marine I have ? See advise from Jon at laser engines..... Chase up the instruction sheets for your other engines.....up to date hard copy beats pc every time I feel... You can make up a vice/or similar mounted engine bearer unit ( do not mount the engine in the vice, mount the engine to a wood mounting that is held in the vice. You intend mounting the engine in a slec GRP type mounting that is bulkhead fitted to the aircraft ? ). Pay particular attention the fuel tank installation and hieght, fuel hieght relative to carb spray bar..... Just to enlighten you, visit PAW model engine site to view engine start up and run vidio...yes it's a diesel ( compression ignition ) but look at were the "fuel tank" is..... Make up a reliable throttle control, reliable tank installation, reliable exhaust ducting, reliable mounting and bench. Reliable glow plug, clip, glow power and electric starter motor. Outside engine runs, exhaust fumes.... You have "unreliable niebours" ??!! An engine run at home will generate noise/interest..... Balanced prop..... As stated, setting up and running a model IC engine is not rocket science, if installed correctly..... Similar safety aspects to electric propulsion, some would say less, some would say more.... Me, being born with greasy fingers etc.. 😁....... Read up on the carb and how it works and it's peculiar particular needle settings..... Clunks have been mentioned some time ago..... Let the forum know when your "reliable stuff" mentioned above is ready.... As a matter of interest, what glow fuel are you using ?? You have some petrol engines and well you lucky man 😄 My first encounter with a model IC engine would be at the age of about 8, probably a Cox 049.....
  5. Hi toto, Very nice toto, not the one in FEBS rcme, xfly P68 33.5 inch wingspan..... Did you set up your "battery register" to keep check on your lipo's ? I have 13 now ( tempting fate there ) of 5 different types, duplicated being identified by colour, letter or number, all recorded in a note book just for lipo's..... At least 2 of each type so two flights per battery application pet flying session. A duplicate for the "odd" battery is at the top of my next order list. Have a great day toto..... Good news for me, have permission for third local flying site but it'd a treck to get to, needing wellies for the big puddle( small lake and boggy ground ) and a detour up and around the dangerouse bit. Happy days but the sun is low this time of year....fancy living where I do and moaning about the sun eh !
  6. @MattyB ah ha...eventually found your tag, thanks Mattyb... I have pm'd him some time ago but no answer....as said he does not have to reply if he does not want to, just like anyone else really.... He probably has not even popped in to see how things are, again it's not mandatory. Hope he gets a good price for his inheritance...
  7. Calling Paul reid at @paul reid Over... Of course, he may not want to answer...... But just in case... Hi Paul, might you still have the kk joker control line model in its redish box please ? Very good price offered/paid. Over.......
  8. Hi toto, is that the one in FEBS rcme ? I have slightly more funds these days, something like 50 days nicotene free....but boy I would still like a fag ! I notice your addiction us still ongoing......
  9. Thanks Alan and Andy... Much appreciated... Will print it off so I have an up to date as possible copy for now. Andy, will bmfa inform members of updates, or leave it to members to check every now and again ? Over.....
  10. Quite, but I don't want to print it off on Friday if an update is planed for release next Monday...it's nice to have a hard copy, internet phone has a matchbox ( wg rather than sv ) sized screen, but point taken. Any feedback Andy ( bmfa, Symons ) ? Over.....
  11. There you go flyboy... George over on 4 Max has a good info sheet as well as good info on bmfa site... Maybe a "sticky" at the top of the battery section on here would be a good idea.........?
  12. Hi Andy, I have printed off the new article 16 for my bmfa flying folder ( yes I reckon it would fly off cilan headland given enough wind ) and studied. The bmfa handbook was updated in August2023 but may I ask please is it due an up date shortly ? If not, I will print it off next time I am in the library in town, so that i have an up to date hard copy and supporting paperwork ( art 16, bmfa membership/insurance ) to show if challenged by a uniform/suit. Thanks....
  13. Anyone had any feedback from Paul about his stuff for sale at all ? Calliing Paul ? Over.....
  14. I have looked but is there a thread especially for beginners about batteries ( especially lipo batteries ) on here to explain the somewhat confusing for beginners terminology... Eg, 1s 5c 2000mah ( I am sure a battery like this does not exist ? ). Beginners battery ( lipo etc. ) Thread ?
  15. I am sure flyboy3 us gunna ask, what is the difference please. Obviousely 0.1 volts, but .....
  16. Hi Ron, I am sure your vidio ( terrible internet here so will view when in library in town ) will be of great benefit to me, others and especially younger modellers. I am sure you and others, us older uns, as well as myself, will remember reading in aeromodeller and other magazines of the 70's and 80's, even earlier, of coloured wrapping paper being used as a covering very successfully. I fact, that is were I got the idea of cereal packet cardboard pva glued straight onto white foam shaped wing cores, making them very rigid and tough, taking paint, humbrol enamel in my case, well, resulting in a cheap and easy relatively light wing for control liners at the time. At the time money was so so tight with us, economy, adaptability, recycling, inventiveness was the order of the day. These days people just go out and buy..... Do you Remember the solvite advert ? Using the autoshop brown paper is an off shoot of this idea/activity. Even corrugated cardboard was utilised. Anyways, a good vidio to watch, learn and inwardly digest. Thanks Ron.
  17. Thanks leccy, time will tell, mark 2 versions of the spit and 109, see shop adverts etc ... Toto, as GG says put the esc "in the wind".....
  18. Cribbing, mmmmm..... Surely better to read, read, read and get some of it to stick in your head...you will always have your head with you, you may not have "your notes/crib sheet. ".
  19. Balsa cabin sonata, even an electric one ( 3 channel ), you mainly wanting a slope soarer ? Yes, impala and several older designs.....hot pants, crusader and many other better known models... However if you are intent on making your own, see outerzone " found centennial" wing, easy to make, strong and light with spruce spars ( rocket sticks ) and two extra bays on central part, one extra bay on wing tips ( it did I add two extra tip bays as well, will have to check ). Easy simple fuz with room for standard sized servos... At some point sn electric one will be made as well as a sloper.....
  20. My mistake, feedback from ali1979 ....
  21. Hi leccy, I did ask a question of all, still waiting for his response ...... He does not have to answer of course.....
  22. Erm.....f/f'ers usually do it in the middle of no where..... Besides, they are the real aeromodellers... I consider a free running IC engine, under no control at all ( apart from the quantity of fuel in the tank ) in a 2 channel glider or what ever, to be unacceptable these days... Waiting for feedback from all...
  23. Yes, retailer responsible for refund, then they go to manufacturer for a refund... Get the manufacturer/retail supplier involved early.... Mail order shop/UK supplier ( j Perkins ) / manufacturer ( in China ), toprc bf109 mark 2...as an example.....
  24. Might be an idea to change the models name, tempting fate a little too much...
