Phil Meredith replied to Capt Kremen's topic in Traditional kits
Hi capt kremen, did you find the logo for this model, I have just been given one of these, my son found it thrown in a skip, it is complete with engine and servos and receiver, it has the decals you need on the tail, no problem to photo them for you -
Weston Park Show
Phil Meredith replied to Former Member's topic in Shows, Club Events and Competitions
I agree with austin, there was not much in the line of real bargains to be had, I desperately wanted a couple of canopies for plans i am building and a few parts for some engines i have managed to loose, but alas no Vortex vacforms and no Just Engines. No stalls were carying canopies of any description, -
Weston Park Show
Phil Meredith replied to Former Member's topic in Shows, Club Events and Competitions
After 4 years of work comitments making me miss the show, this weekend i managed to get there. it was a bit pricy on the admission at 18 quid for me and the missus. But i was realy looking forward to it, The only thing that spoiled it for me, and realy did spoil the whole day, was the fact i could not get within 8 feet of the flight line, I was realy looking forward to getting a good look and some photos of the models on the ground, but due to all the punters with there chairs and even patio tables complete with brollies that had taken root from one end of the field to the other it was impossible to get any where near the display, Why do the organisers allow this behaviour to take place, I paid my entrance fee so should i not have the option to see everything there, Like i said its been four years since the last visit, from what i saw, i paid 18 quid to go to a load of model shops, and to watch a few planes buzz round the sky, ( i can do that for free, It will be another 40 years till i go again, -
i have a friend desperate for a de haviland beaver, can anyone point me in the right direction of a kit or a plan for around a forty size, but deffinately not an ARTF.... thanks phil

cillit bang is also very good but will take the enamel off ervines, so be warned
-
use the "EPA" end point adjustment to adjust the servo travel, i am not familiar as to the correct pitch adjustment, it should say in the instuctions max pitch + and - for 3D flight, but as you are far from home make a note of all settings so that you can put it back to where it is should you mess it up

hi andy,, without seeing the extent of the damage its difficult to suggest how the repair should proceed,, if you have a chunk in each hand and they are a good fit when put backtogether then do just that,, pull out the tank and fit a couple of pieces of triangular balsa to strengthen, as for the tailplain get your covering iron and warm up the covering carefully peel it back from the leading edge and have a looksee how bad its bust, any dents in the wood can be removed by applying water to the balsa and warming it with the iron

veeeeery nice bit O kit,,,, what size is she,,
-
not realy peter, it was all pretty straight forward, in the first instance you just ring them up and have a chat with someone about what you are trying to achieve with the club, if you are trying to make the club more accesible to people that cant be catered for at the present they are very helpful, well worth the effort,

novice plan building
Phil Meredith replied to Christopher Kilpatrick's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
my advice would be, that whichever plan you look at get one that has all the components drawn on, some just have first and last wing rib and its up to the bulider to use his/hers own prefered method to reproduce the rest, not too much of a problem but one that can be avoided for a first build to make life easier.. -
hi chris when i built mine i linked the two elevator rods together just before the servo and used a sngle servo not a great saving of weight but as one of the big chain stores says "every little helps"

was it murphy or sods law that says if it can happen it will ? imposible to keep two mistakes high when doing landng practice, when i was teaching a members wife at our club you have to turn right towards the runway and then right along a row of trees down the runway, she made the first turn fine but when it came to the second turn she banked the plane fine but froze on the elevator about 15 feet above the tarmac and twenty feet from the trees, by the time i let go of the trainer switch it was already inverted and nose down, smashed it back to the rear wing retaining dowel, even the engine was in bits, i was gutted, but she thought it was great, she had never seen the inside of an engine before
