  1. It a simple one word answer Speed. Flying wings normally are for fast flying and if you want to go fast you need a small prop spinning fast. A bigger prop would be more efficient so you could fly for longer but more slowly.
  2. Well ..................................................................................... I see I started this thread back in June and I have finally got it on the building board!     Should only be another year before its complete Original plan published in December 1951.  Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 17/11/2010 16:22:52 Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 17/11/2010 18:30:28
  3. Gaz, have you tried Carbon Copy. They lots of different U/C you may find one that is suitable.
  4. I have seen that video so many times and I still enjoy it just as much as I did the first time.
  5. I would also go with the 14g. Once you find a servo you like I would stick with it. I had some total rubbish servos from that supplier a while ago.
  6. When I get down and go off flying I find something simple cheap and easy to fly and go and chuck it around the sky. Just go and fly for the shear hell of it not for the challenge of a new or fast model. Then I find that I remember why I love doing it. I must say that I am struggling for enthusiasm at the moment and have not been doing much flying but I always feel a bit like that at this time of year. I think it is due to poor weather combined with short days. Good luck
  7. I love the new video of the Nationals (it is new isn''t it?) especially the interviews with the pilots.
  8. Hi Maz and welcome from me. Gremlins are a lot of fun arn't they?
  9. An LA10 is 9 times smaller that the 90 you are looking for your model. That is .1of a cubic inch you want a .9 of a cubic inch engine. Sorry I do not have one to swap.
  10. Fairy Power Spray is the one for me. Not a corrosive as some of the others but doesa good job and washes off with water.
  11. From reading the comments it appears to only have an auto feather on the props to allow the turbine to spin up and down with minimal load not full variable pitch. Fantastic model though.
  12. These Hitecs are a lot cheaper. These Supertecs are good if you want smaller servos.
  13. Sounds like you have got a dodgy kit. Try and send it back and get it replaced. Failing that I would elongate the holes where the dowels fit into the fuselage so that the wing sits properly in the fuselage cut out.
  14. Both Key fob and Gum cams are very similar, I would just take what you can get at a good price. I think some offers supply the memory and some do not. Just make sure you look carefully at what you are getting for your money. Good Luck Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 29/10/2010 09:05:20
  15. I have tried water based Ronseal with very poor results. It was on film covering but it went soft and sticky after a few flights.Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 27/10/2010 18:37:39
  16. That is a very good example of why I use Paypal, when I can. Sorry that comment doesnot help you now but may do in the future.
  17. Just remove/cut the red wire from ESC to RX throttle channel and plug battery into any port on the RX.
  18. I must admit I just chuck mine in the bin. Is that bad
  19. I have to agree with the two posts above. You can buy good quality 4 cell AA pack in both flat and square arrangements. Making them yourself has no benefits that I can see.
  20. If your prop is coming loose when you are flicking it then it is way too loose. You can apply quite a lot of torque. If your spanner is short say 4-6 inches then you can give it a rally good yank. I find that the prop cuts into my hand to tell me to stop yanking on the spanner.
  21. I had that and I feel for you. I had an operation to remove the disk 20 years ago (I was about your age) and its been very good ever since then. I still get some pain now and again but nothing like it used to be. The Doc should have prescribed some STRONG pain killers. I had Dystalgesic which was good but I am not sure if they still use them. I suggest that if you are suffering go back to the Doc and get some more/better drugsEdited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 16/10/2010 09:45:03
  22. I think you could get away with a lot less than 550W in a Super 60. Its a very floaty model and I 300-350W should do the trick. Having said tghat I have never done it myself. My Super 60 flys on an old 20FS.Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 14/10/2010 17:42:45
