  1. Dear all With just over two weeks to go until our first splash-in of the year at Ullswater I thought it would be good to list full dates and details of our 2018 splash-ins. Dates 24/25 March 21/22 April 19/20 May 23/24 June 22/23 September 20/21 October Location is Waterside House farm near Pooley Bridge, nearest postcode is CA10 2NA. Please send me a pm for exact access details if you haven't been before. **Note** If you have been before can we kindly ask that you pay your car parking fee directly to the farm shop upon arrival, but the WMWF club will still collect the flying fee from you. Thanks. Open to non-members of WMWF although annual club membership is only £5 and that gives discounted flying. Fees are £3/day flying for non-members and £1/day flying for members. BMFA A-certs or SAA equivalents are needed to fly solo and B-cert or equivalent for over 7Kg models. Club rules require anyone intending to fly jet turbine powered models or over 20Kg models to contact the committee a minimum of two weeks in advance of a fly-in giving full details of the intended flying. Hope to see some of you there for some relaxed fun flying.   Edited By Alan Gorham_ on 08/03/2018 16:57:33
  2. Looks good Andy - I'll look forward to seeing her swooping down with dive brakes open
  3. As requested by Bob, I'm just confirming that I'm still attending the museum and eating. Looking forward to it!
  4. Yes- go on Chris. I'm opting for cannons, so I'd like to see the Barlow patented method too!
  5. Hiya Phil, thanks for looking in! I must say that my timescale for the maiden is definitely not going to allow a maiden before the "official" event in September, because I've got 4 or 5 PSS projects to get done along the way. My plan is to put the Hurri together in the background in a relaxed, enjoyable way. I'm quite excited to see everyone else's choices too. I really like the SEAC schemed aircraft with the Vokes filter on the nose, but the local connection won out. Edited By Alan Gorham_ on 01/03/2018 21:23:44
  6. Ok then... Having ordered a plan and canopy from Sarik I decided to start my build thread. My intial intention is to cut all the wood parts myself and make a spinner out of foam, mainly because I like cutting out parts, plus I've got a huge pile of wood that needs using up. However, I'll reserve judgement on that until I've had a butchers at the plan - can always buy a CNC pack later... I like to build models with a local connection and the connection here is that in summer 1942, 1 Squadron brought their Hurricanes to RAF Acklington for an armament camp - probably to use the live firing range on the secluded Northumberland coast at Goswick. I live about 10 miles away from Acklington (now a prison!) and my favourite Hurricane is the Mk.IIc with cannon and bomb carriers, so there we go! Incidentally, 1 Squadron later became pioneers of the "night intruder" technique where they flew to German airfields at night and attacked enemy aircraft that were either landing or taking off, thus being vulnerable. I've got some bits and pieces to help me make the paint stencils: a Mushroom Model Publications three view book to help with panel line placement, a set of stencil decals with placement diagrams from H-Model and a Revell 1/72 Mk.IIc kit, which I have started and will finish in my planned scheme. See pics!
  7. I spotted the plan on Sarik's website last night. I'm going to join in with this. It looks too much fun to pass up on.
  8. Wow! Excellent news Phil really looking forward to it.
  9. Falcon Models in New Zealand produce vacform canopies for plastic scale model kits. Falcon Models that used to make R/C kits in the UK are out of business and if you look at the Steve Webb listing, most kits are either discontinued or out of stock.
  10. I would second Nigel's suggestion about direct contact. Ken Enya is very helpful and Enya do have a surprising amount of parts for long out of production engines. E mail him! Also, there is a USA ebay seller who lists older and newer Enya parts: **LINK** Worth a look to keep a classic Enya going.
  11. It's a yes from me.... I visited the MOSI in Manchester last year and enjoyed learning about Avro's connections with Manchester, so I'd be interested to visit the site of one of the factories at Woodford.
  12. Is it go, or no-go? Forecast still looks canny for NYE?
  13. Still not convinced clearcoat is the answer. Buy the clearcoat and a matting agent and the special thinners and its probably cheaper (and certainly easier) to buy a single spray can of 2K. Also, there's absolutely no guarantee that Clearcoat will be compatible with the exising matt coat (which I bet is 2k anyway - I know Thunder Tiger use 2k on their ARTFs as the manual I had with my Beaver said so). I'm also not totally convinced Clearcoat is totally fuelproof like 2K is....Solarlac make by the same company definitely isn't. Anyway, the OP wanted a spray and Clearcoat isn't a spray!
  14. Solarfilm clearcoat is gloss only, not matt and comes in a tin, so can only be sprayed if you have a spraygun. Not sure that's what the OP intended.... Spectra is not fuelproof, it's fuel resistant in my experience. I would look for an aerosol can of 2k Matt lacquer, because this is glow fuel proof. Be warned: 1) it's expensive, 2) No guarantees its compatible with the lacquer already applied at the factory.

  17. HK quite helpful when you google dys1804 2000kV: **LINK** For example: "The 1804-23 2000KV multirotor motors are ideal for small 200~250mm multirotors and 5 to 6 inch props."
  18. Andy - I will definitely sign up for a Hawk and I would like a Gnatty so I can gracefully retire my 32 year old example. I'll bother you next summer about the Hawk!
