  1. Nice One Ernie I like it " fix the remote plug into an old CREDIT CARD - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ACCESS for maintenance - - - - - - - - - Neat humour in fact as neat as your finite suggestion for fixing remote .
  2. " Happy with the skin you are in " - W H A T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! would YOU REALLY WANT TO BE IN SOMEONE ELSE'S ??????????? Total Non Sequitur !!!! Abject rubbish
  3. Petty sure its against the law to drink --- and even eat (hand to mouth ) as this takes either hand away from the steering wheel and then " you are deemed not to be in control of the vehicle" -- thus committing an offence . Mobile phone users do it all the time Hands off -- the worst kind .
  4. Nice one Rupe -- will add that to the next Mortarmix . Thks
  5. This may sound weird and off-the -wall but One Day , I was scratching around for some lightweight filler at 10.30 pm !!! Didnt have any of course as I had run out . Had plenty of White PVA liquid adhesive --- so I raided the Cook.s domain ( She was safely at work !!! and came across a container of Soya Powder which mixes with anything . Taking an empty clean butter container I then made an ad hoc mix until a creamy paste obtained . Applied it with spatula and smoothed it over and left it until next am . Buffed it off and then proceeded The excess mixture kept well in the sealed Container and was useable much later -- 2 Months without going hard . Even experimented further by re - mixing same kind of admixture to it . No Problem -- its light and cheap . The One Downside I found was the smell of the residue --- Someone out there must produce an idea of ADDING something which will either kill OR better still make it smell like an airfreshener.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Its not the fear of Crashing -- its not the effect from crashing its steeling Yourself with the resolve of having taken part at all !!! In Rugby you have to accept that you at some stage are going to get hurt and deal with it ---- otherwise You dont play . With Flying you have the mind set to be prepared to write off whatever you may be flying that partular Day with the calmness / coolness that goes with it ( however gutting)
  7. Sig Kougar Mk 2 are great Flyers , My Cousin's goes with an Old HP61 Gold Cup like ***T off a shovel . My Old KAOS 40 with the rounded tips cut the sky in half and lasted longer than 2 Wives and 4 Kids before departing off the planet !!!
  8. Hi Chris Have a Super Kaos Great Planes Kit in Hangar 10 -- original kit . Also a Made up Kaos 40 sprayed etc . There are Bridi revisited Kits from Blue Jay Kits with Utter and Killer Kaos 40 and 60 size Short Kits but You may Find Jeff Petrovski (Home & Hobby Solutions in Lancaster SC) of great assistance with his Revamped Kazmirski Taurus Short Kits and others which are absolutely Fanastic and well cut out ----- I bought one 3 Years ago ready for a week Building / Week covering and Spraying and then Flying . I will sell You Both or one Kaos if you wish as they are 60 size .sr
  9. Hi Gemtlefolk I purchased Aeromodeller Re-vamped having already stated where I was coming from . In standing back having looked through and digested the various topics and articles I think that this publication may have a reasonable chance of success --- for the following supportive observations . a. Its a Brit publication ---- albeit with an enhtusive US Editor -- but let UK Spelling Rule . b. Keeping the countdown of re-printing Aeromodeller Nos 2 3 etc as a standard part . c. Plans are good -- keep this going d. Golden Wings or whatever Article -- inroduce similar to enthuse the really Young Ones . e Heard at the The Hangar Doors and tail end Charlie are good . f . The History of venues and articles of vintage /Old time are paramount for Youth to realise and understand that aeromodelling was not founded by accident . g. Good Coverage of FF and CL Its a New Publication and its going to feel its feet so perhaps those People whom have given support via good wishes with the nostalgia sentimental will now in turn commit themselves in turn to 1. Commenting on this Publication as to what They would like to see .and read 2. the Most Important bit --------- commit to purchasing . It is insufficient to state that Messrs WH Smith is not near everyone --- There are also Newsagents whom can obtain on a regular basis . Its also easy to stand on the fence and say " I always try before i Subscribe " Dealing with potential subscribers is like handling the fallout of an Electoral Roll in that those making the most noise about a favourite dont vote at the appropriate time .. Yes i WILL be purchasing without a Doubt ., Personally wish AEROMODELLER the best of success and all those associated with it but the mantle of its success( or lack of ) firmly remains with its circulation of which We are all portent
  10. Thks Erfolg -- You have summed up all -in -one what I said earlier on this Forum .All those whom are consumed with Nostalgia , sentiment and are overcome with the fumes of Balsa cement damp with wet Tissue and dry Rubberbands and a whiff banana oil whom REALLYwish for success of this Publication should have pre - commited but sadly ( like an electoral poll) pocket action got the better of them . Someone else stated that SAMS and Aeromodeller should get together and this will bring total focus on the two basic flying codes F/F and C/L . Aeromodeller LESS US Spelling , well balanced arts from Worldwide combined with How - to -do -it arts combined with the eternal countback of Repro Original Aeromodellers Supplements HAS got a fighting chance but like an Airline / Bus Company its bums on seats which will see its longevity . I.E Those whom commit with Subs NOT those whom will possibly buy from a Newsagent shelf. This is where those with the pent up nostalgia will be put to the test
  11. VC Braddock Thks but you are missing the point i was making . I want it to succeed but the odds are stacked against it by the numbers . Simply applying what I said Publishers dont care about nostalgia and will shut it down if it doesnt produce money . They shut down AMI which serviced a wide Clientele . So , whats going to happen to a Magazine which has a finer tuned audience ? Certainly nostalgia and sentiment arent going to keep it afloat . Patently there seems to be a lot of this about at present BUT will this be enough ? So Guys , stand back and think about this and like me You will no doubt wish it the sucess it deserves but nevertheless query why these new content ideas dynamic were not put into the standalone AIM .
  12. Thks KC for the info . wishing this project the longevity it so desperately deserves but have a horrible feeling that this will be killed off within 2 Years . If Circulation was fervent nostalgia to the tune voiced in and around the inaugural Website then Lazarus Aeromodeller will have the greatest circulation of every Model Mag .. Sadly it isnt and doesnt unfortunately work in this way and the stark realism is that economics dictate that Copies per month - income to ougoings determine the outcome . ADH are firmly in the driving seat here and will not shed any tears in shutting down the oldest Model Publication long before push comes to shove .
  13. Hi All I feel sorry for Steve Dorling in his erstwhile role of editor of now defunct AMI. Back in March 2009 I wrote to him as a result of comments made in the Mag re Free flight on death Row . . I suggested it was time to re-introduce the Old well-tried and tested Aeromodeller Dynamic with the Free Plan John o Donnell and ( at the time ) Ron Moulton with the epononymous Peter Miller pressganged into service for a new line-up . This is what he replied " The Old Aeromodeller format - there may well be merit in that for us " OLDIES" but we are a dying breed and the numbers just dont stack up , so AMI is now a Jack of all trades and mastrer of none in many ways -- certainl yif we dropped the Aeromodeller content, i doubt whether sales would change markedly as a percentage of total circulation, but we are the only UK mag that runs F/F and C/L content and as long as Ican , I'm determined to retain an interest in both FF and C/L because to me , thats " real" aeromodellingat grass routes level, but as they say, nostalgia aint what it used to be ---! " We roll the clock and then read the famous last editorial of AMI and i quote the last 2 parags. " Aeromodeller , over the past eight or so decades has seen and rep[orted on al lof it ( Model Development ) and the title remains, by far the oldestmodel aviationtitlehere and probablyin the world , but nothing lasts forever. Its is thenwith huge sadnessand regret that , I have to announcethis is to be the last edition of AMI and Aeromodeller , for the moment at least !! With no alternative publicationfor Traditional Aeromodellers the intention is to re - releaseAeromodeller as a stand - alone publication for traditional free Flight and C'L enthusiasts later in the year , but as Douglas Adam's so succinctly put it , for the moment it's so long and thanks for all the fish !!! Its been a great ride and i'm proud to have been associated with the oldest aeromodelling publication of all ." Looking at this ADH Publishing Moguls have done the numbers and that AMI was losing money over some time with this publication and decided to pull the plug .--- not fully realising the full implications of AMI including Aeromodeller the oldes model mag thus resulting in appeasement in a hasty announcement that a stand -alone magazine entitled Aeromodeller would be reinaugurated later in the Year------ (..With the ease of shutting one publication down this Group can set another up --- in this case Aeromodeller .) It is clear from the impact of Steve Dorling 's last editorial that detemination of success of any ADH Publication is decided on values way above that of sentiment , nostalgia . hence i feel that there may be other financial problems amounting to the already 2 months delay in new launch --- made more intricate by the taking of pre subscriptions . I would buy the Aeromodeller despite having bought the Others at various times --- my favourite being the original Radio Modeller when Hughes ran it but again that's history running a high nostalgia temperature !!!
  14. Agree with Aaron . . My Beech Handled Marples Chisel set was given to me when I got the City & Guilds Carpenters diploma --- in 1966 when I was 21 They have seen out two wives and thousands of Government Ministers since then and i sharpen them on a 50 Year Old two wheeled grinder .Permagrit are the business . Neill produce great padsaws but dont get any Sears-Roebuck Long shafted Pozidrive screwdrivers only if you want more deflection than 45/45 degrees when increasing pressure on an ergonomic handle .!
  15. Nothing as spectacular nor audacious as some people have geared but on Sat at Wings and Wheels I acquired 2 Number Galaxy Mystic Made up and flown Models -- both needing remedial for £35 . Bought with view of making into one good One but upon looking further can now make 2 !!!!!! -
