  1. Fantastic model john and knew it would fly well and you would love it. It’s was my favourite of my mini jet fleet until I built the Hawk .. hint hint you won’t be disappointed Steve
  2. Here is the first launch Guys .. Bike clips at the ready ! **LINK** Steve
  3. Hi there, An update on my Provost... It has always flown ok, once the tricky launch is mastered.. needs the biggest shove off of all the models (Gnat, Hunter & Hawk) but I have always been a little disappointed at the performance. It seems to need more power than the others. So looking through your posts I decided to enlarge the underside cheat hole to 65mm by 45mm. I added a little more nose weight to move the cog a little... WHAT a transformation !! Now the take off is still tricky but once in the circuit the cruise power is much less and the flying much much smoother. Gone is the tip stall in the turns tendency.. RESULT !! So now she joints the fleet as a great flyer .. well pleased Steve Edited By Steve Jones 2 on 13/07/2020 22:29:50
  4. So with perfect weather on Sunday the big day arrived.. a few flights with the provost, Gnat and Hunter to calm the nerves.. As usual I do my own hand launches, an issue with Mode 1 but I always like then to blame a bad launch and crash on me and no-one else.. The first launch was .. 'interesting' to say the least.. a dive for the floor and a snap roll to the left.. a few hairy inputs and we were climbing away holding half full up elevator to keep level !!. I think a slight forward cog and a hard launch contributed. The battery was mounted a little forward from that shown on the plan to get the cog correct, held in position with blue foam blocks which I can remove. Once in the circuit, trims quickly added and we were straight and level... The first thing which struck me was how little power she needed, throttling back to about half and into the cruise.. With rates set and 30% expo she settled into the flight and felt just like the Gnat !! so so smooth in the turns at fast and medium speeds with no sight of a wobble or tip stall. A final bonus was the noise - I swear it sounded like a jet with intake rush.... The landing was next and the flare was not enough and the tank underneath brought the model to an abrupt stop - good job I added the location pegs into the fuselage. Several more flights and much better landings and to say I am chuffed is an understatement !!. Awesome model Tony .. she really does fly as well as she looks ... Steve
  5. Dave,   100% the 52 4st.. I have the ASP one in my second Panther.... 4oz tank is all I could get in and flight times are ok but not long. Power is plenty so half power is a great cruise... Sounds great compared to the 2str engine in my first. I have seen a couple with 40 4str.. they fly Ok if the engine is on song.... but not much in hand... Good luck Steve Edited By Steve Jones 2 on 07/07/2020 17:11:28
