Dick Edmunds Halton Special
Mark Agate replied to shaun holford's topic in General Vintage R/C Chatter
Hi Shaun, take a look at this: **LINK** One Tony OShea flew one in the world championships in the late 1970s, having added flaps to it. Check out this link: **LINK** It was an expensive model in its time, being supplied ARTF when practically everything else was kit-built, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were some collectors value. It was made by EMP (Edmonds Model Products). The designer, Dick Edmonds, also designed the Keil Kraft Scorpion with an ABS fuselage and foam wings, which was my first RC power model (not the same as the older wooden KK Scorpion). -
I used to make foamies using either latex adhesive or epoxy to attach obeche veneer, but must confess I've never thought of using Gorilla Glue. It does seem a bit thick to spread over such a large area though. Do you thin the glue using some kind of solvent, or have you found a trade type that's a bit thinner anyway?

Thanks for all the messages of support. I now believe I may have been suffering from cognitive dissonance due to the possibility that the splodge more closely resembles a Twinjet than a Funjet (can just about see the Hurricane too). Anyway I'm feeling much better now, and have learnt that it's no good crying over spilt milk.

Thanks! It's good to know there are people out there who understand.

After 36 years of RC flying, I can't see a magazine lying on a table without thinking what a great aerofoil the pages make where they fold into the spine. Sometimes I see a simple cross on a piece of paper and think what a superb high aspect ratio glider it would make. Tonight my son spilt some milk on the dining table, and all I can see is a funjet flying left to right. See picture below. Do I need help, Doc?

'4 max' online shop any good?
Mark Agate replied to Brent Mills's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
Not just a good supplier - there's lots of useful tips on the 4-Max website as well. Edited By Mark Agate on 26/04/2013 13:50:52 -

Buy a Spectrum radio for BNF or find another heli..
Mark Agate replied to Lunch-time flyer's topic in Helicopters
Sounds like a good plan! BTW, there's an even cheaper 450 here: **LINK** You have to supply the radio, gyro and batteries youself, but it still looks like a good deal. -

I've also got a 450 which I really enjoy flying, but I got the FBL100 because I wanted something I could fly in the road outside my house on a calm day! We've also got a meeting room at work which is just about big enough for tight circuits with a micro heli. I don't think flying a 450 there would go down too well! -

I bought an FBL 100 helicopter, available on Ebay (HiSky) and also Hobby King (Turnigy). It's very similar to the MCPX, but comes with its own transmitter, at a comparable price. The Tx is fairly basic - there's no rates, exponential etc, but the sticks are good, and I have to say that overall I've been very pleased with it. It does have an idle-up switch so loops and rolls are possible. I've seen videos of it doing inverted flight as well, but I'm not quite that proficient with it yet! -

Very cool! I like the swarm putting on a light show too: **LINK** Should cause a few UFO reports!

If you do post photos, don't forget to turn them upside-down first.

Let's hope his persistence pays off this time! **LINK** -
We've experienced freezing at our site too. It's been particularly bad after all the flooding we've had...

A lifesaver for the troops
Mark Agate replied to Mark Agate's topic in Aerial Photography, First Person View, UAVs
A little more information at **LINK** The company website seems a bit coy about the Black Hornet, but some interesting products at **LINK** The MAV-07 claims 10 minutes from a 200mAh LiPo. The other products' flight times sound a bit more realistic. -
Good to see such a valuable use of our technology! 20 minutes duration seems pretty amazing, given that it's powering the camera as well. **LINK**

Whats your favourite part of our superb hobby?
Mark Agate replied to the unmagnificent man's topic in All Things Model Flying
The girls, the fast cars and the money. I've been terribly disappointed. -
Can silver coloured covering affect radio signal?
Mark Agate replied to Ian Jones's topic in General Radio Discussion
A friend of a friend was once flying a thermal soarer covered in the stuff at Richmond Park. He was tapped on the shoulder by a police officer, who said "Heathrow radar report an unidentified object at 1000ft. Please get that thing down."
