  1. The thing to remember with the dB's is that it is a logarithmic scale, therefore 81dB is twice the sound output of 80 dB.
  2. Good old white spirit is what I used many moons ago! It's too easy to just pick up a spray can these days I've got 5 cans of that Lidl thinners, it's good stuff! (Got some strange looks at the checkout tough, must have thought I was having a party!)
  3. I butt jointed some bits of 1/8" birch ply to form a right angle with the orange tube. After being left over night I had to use my foot on the point of the right angle to break it! On inspection you can see a thin layer of wood stuck to the glue, showing there was virtually no penetration into the wood. Some T pieces were made from 3/16 balsa strip using both types and again left over night. Despite cleaning all excess glue from the joints there was still some 'ooze' after curing, the orange glue appeared slightly worse in this respect and both have the same 'sandability' as PVA or epoxy. Three out of for joints failed with top of the T coming away leaving a layer of balsa on the glue. The forth, orange tube, the balsa failed before the joint on two of the three arms of the T.
  4. Bob The original FF Scram had quite alot of under-camber, but I have seen a few RC Scrams fly well with flat bottomed wings. Rob
  5. Looks good Jon! So whats the finished AUW?
  6. Yes it does, both count up and count down.
  7. That's the price for the size we've got (14.5gm) You can get 159ml of Gorilla Glue for about the same price! Even cheaper if you buy the bigger sizes, but it trends to go off in the bottle, so smaller quantities are better for us.
  8. I had a week away in October and I just took the Instants with me this time. I used to take a charger with me and not need it, so just a fresh set of Instants in the camera this time. The bl**dy things gave-up half way through the week .
  9. I have just glued up some fairly course grained EPP with the Green tube. It grabs quite quickly so I didn't need to hold it together for too long. This stuff doesn't foam as much as either of the Gorilla Glues so it stays where it's put, but doesn't flow though the EPP like GG or even cyano. The joint was relatively weak requiring little force to break away the small amount of EPP beads that were wetted by the glue. I'll try some balsa and other hardwoods next. - Watch this space!
  10. John Go onto the Phoenix website Download version 2.00 and install. When you run Phoenix 2.00 it will ask you if you want to load updates. Click OK to download updates of models and flying sites.
  11. Anyone who does a lot of whipping (binding wire onto rod) should invest in a bobbin holder. They are used for tying fishing flies and can be bought for about a fiver. I regularly use mine for making a neat job of fixing wire to carbon push rods.
  12. Chris. There was a thread on this subject a while ago and I ended up testing my Vapex 2600's under load. If I remember correctly the voltage holds up OK at up to 4A load. I bought some of their Instant AA's for my camera but compared to normal NiMH's or even Alkaline cells they seem a bit 'Lightweight'. I now use 5 X 3300 mAh sub C's for heavier loads.
  13. Nah! when I crash I don't need glue. Just a vacuum cleaner!
  14. Got mine today, thanks David. Now I just need to get something to test it on!
  15. Should have gone to SPEKSAVERS!
  16. Get them while you can! Massive price increases on new stock.
  17. It must look like one of these!
  18. It seems that many manufacturers are using the weak pound to hike up their prices. Horizon Hobby have upped some of their ARTF kits by up to 50% and it looks like Futaba are following suit. If you are quick you can still get the FF7 at the old PRICE after that who knows, maybe they will stop importing them due to poor sales.
  19. Or you could make your own Magnetic Building Board
