Watts up ? -
I managed to get a scroll saw of Amazon, it was a refurbished model but it didn't have a mark on it when it arrived. I use the good reliable no 11 blade, razor saw, coping saw and a selection of sanding blocks etc. for most things and break out the power tools for the thick and hard bits. I find if you dont rush it and pop the radio on and enjoy the crafting of individual parts before you know it you have a full kit of bits. A good cutting mat and a vice help too!

Morning folks, I've just acquired a few engines from the estate of a modeller who passed away a couple of years ago. I'm looking to try and restore one or two but am looking in vain for parts at a reasonable price. The bits I'm looking for at the moment are: OS 702 clamp on type muffler OS or similar carb with a 9mm diameter neck looking through the box I may have some other bits and pieces to pass on to interested parties. So far I can see a couple of PAW needle valves and some other OS crank cases such as a PET .99 OS.10 and a couple of OS MAX 111 .15s and an old Rossi .15 CL speed engine if any body is interested drop me a message.

Jet Pack Paramedic - Coming to a Hillside Near You!
Rob replied to EvilC57's topic in Jets and Turbines
I think the problem is a mater of equipment transport, when a first responder gets to a patient what do they do? I know its nice for a patient to see assistance come over the hill towards them but then what.....? The most qualified paramedic with no useful kit is a first-aider. I'm not knocking the idea but practically its a bit of a novelty and if there was an accident whilst flying or landing you've them got multiple patients on the hill side. Now jet powered quad bikes would be an idea.....! . -

Saw that article at work the other night funnily enough on an Ambulance station .......To say we laughed was an understatement. -
I stand to build and sit down on an old stool from a breakfast bar when contemplating my next move and enjoying a brew and a biscuit!

Dug out the mangled remains of a DB Piper Cub from the loft. Have stripped it of covering and now in process of making repairs to the fuselage.....wings and tail beyond repair but enjoying spending the time redrawing a plan to build a new set from.

The problem as I see it is whether or not you would be prepared to set out for the day to cut the grass or any other activities with the knowledge that if there was an accident/car crash etc of some sort that you may not have the option of receiving a response from the Emergency Service/NHS I a Medic at a local small ambulance station, there is only about 10 of us to staff it 24/7 we also have to self isolate (I'm on week 2, having displayed symptoms after dealing with a confirmed case)there are others of at the minute aswell, the hospitals only have a fixed number of beds and have only started treating those who have a fighting chance of survival. My son works for the Fire Service and they are in the same boat. There is not an unending supply of staff or hospital beds. France and Spain have banned cycling for this purpose, so the choice is yours!

I only started reading first light the other day. One of the old school decent sort of chap who above everything was humble and humane, we owe this Gentleman and others of his generation an enormous amount debt of thanks that I don't think we can ever repay. May he rest in peace.

Is traditional building a disappearing art?
Rob replied to ChrisB's topic in All Things Model Flying
I think a great part of this hobby is the variation, I have a couple of foam thingumies and have had the odd ARTF or two but don't have the connection to them as home built projects. I think building can be what you want it to be, If its sticking a few bits of depron together to test a concept of going for a faithful reproduction of a "Golden age" free flight model or the whole hog with Carbon fibre and composite materials this hobby has it all and we all have a huge amount of information we can share as well as the sheer joy of it all.......currently peeling bits of cyano off my fingers, bliss ! -

Due to the dwindling supply of reasonably priced kits I'm now spending more time building from plans either downloaded or purchased online from places such as ebay etc. Quite often you can pick up copies of old magazines such as RCM&E and Radio modeller with plans in place that can be built for small money and its nice to see a few of the old designs that may not have been so good due to the technology of the time ie Nicad flight batteries and full size radio sets modified for modern equipment. -
IMO spending £1000 on a defib is money well spent. By the time that its broken down to a cost per club member it wont be any more that a gallon of fuel each. I'e attended a few jobs(EMT) where a defib has been used and the patient is conscious by the time we got there. As a hobby, we are generally off the beaten track and not always easy to find and in the world of cardiology "time is muscle" Now not all cardiac arrests are shockable but would you want to be the one who needs it and it isn't there? British Heart Foundation run a good course called "Heartstart" that teaches basic CPR and first aid. Only lasts for a couple of hours so not to much of a time commitment.

Something like a Tomboy is a great build. You can purchase short kits(all the complicated bits pre-cut you just supply the long bits from LMS) from ebay or purchase the kit from a well known supplier or go the whole 9 yards and buy a plan and a stack af balsa and go for the full plan build experience.

Another of the true great entertainers gone.....I'm only just getting over the demise of Morcambe and Wise. R.I.P Sir Ken.

I'm a Emergency Medical Technician and delivered a baby at home a couple of weeks ago, the lady didn't want to get off the sofa and despite our best efforts to get here on plastic sheets and towels etc the sofa took the brunt. They claimed on their home insurance as far as I know. (also got me a box of chocolates !!!)
