  1. I've read in various articles where wing mounted servos are covered in shrink wrap and then glued into position. What type of shrink is used?
  2. Thanks for all of the ideas. I,ll start with the easiest, check the prop. Thanks again.
  3. I did think of using a silicone sealant but not sure it could cope with the high temperature.
  4. What can I do to stop a 4 stroke silencer vibrating loose? No matter how tight I tighten the locking nuts, they vibrate loose. Edited By Russ P on 05/09/2013 18:56:18
  5. If you have to replace the battery I'd consider buying the Align starter, uses lipo and therefore low discharge, always ready for use and compact. Edited By Russ P on 02/07/2013 12:29:13
  6. Still haven't received my copy yet! Are ther any problems?
  7. I've used the solid and translucent covering fron GC, if its the same stuff its great, strong, strinks around curves and fuel proof. Also, the length of the roll is 5 meters so you get a lot for your money. Only problem is, you end up with so much covering that you are forever building models to use it up!
  8. I have this on a tablet and its very addictive. Foggy mornings are interesting when yoyu see how many aircraft are stacked around Essex, Kent and North West London - frightening!!! Also looked at Norway and found helicopters showing up on the radar. One interesting point, in the south east a vast majority of the aircraft in our airspace are Easyjet or Ryanair.

    hop farm

I hope they find an alternative site and don't go back to the Hop Farm after last year's debacle. If its somewhere else I'll definatly go, at Hop Farm I won't.
  10. No preference really, artf, plan or kit, althought during winter I build from kit or plan. Felt inspired from the mass build short list to build the Whizzza. Plan arrived, off to Balsa Cabin for wood, build very quick when only using sheet balsa. A very good half term week off work building from plan.
  11. There are a number of threads with diagrams on the forum, type retract in the search for box and they will appear. I have just installed a set and they work really well. All you need is a Y lead, switch and battery. I installed the battery and switch on the centre line od the wings just over the spar, so that the additional weight should not affect the c of g. I'll take a picture and add to the post if that will help.
  12. Put me in the hat and then draw it out please.
  13. Slow weekend? everyones out flying not on their PC! Flown Friday, Saturday and Sunday, fuel supply taken a real battering!
  14. Garbo - could you explain how you use life batteries as the rx battery. The wiring arrangement, how many flights per charge for a normal sport model (5 standard servos). Thanks
  15. I'm really neurotic about my RX batteries and check the voltage before every flight. My question is, how low should I allow the voltage get before charging them. I use 4 cell sanyo eneloop 4.8v. Luckily I checked them at the field today prior to my 3rd flight and found that one of the cells had failed!
  16. One thing to consider first, is the wing seated correctly in position before inserting the screws? With mine I found that to fit the rx I had to remove some foam to seat the rx in position. May be the rx is stopping the wing seating correctly. Its very tight in the fuselage with the esc, rx and the servo leads. Just a thought.
  17. I've used Balsa Cabin & SLEC with no problems and very helpful.
  18. I've noticed a couple of coinsidences recenty when looking at Ripmax (Hobbystore) websites. Ripmax.net (which was Hobbystores site) can no longer be found, and they did not sell online you could only look at items they stocked and you had to buy via one of their Hobbystore network of shops, you could not buy online from these stores. It does surprise me how they make any profit from 6 stores with no online facilities, just relying of people visiting their stores, and being more costly than online stores. Visiting the Hobbystore website yesterday low and behold they now sell online! after all these years. Could it be that Ripmax (Hobbystores) have taken over GC? Don't really care who owns these companies, all I look for is good price and customer service, which if Ripmax have anything to do with it will now fall. Airtek and HK all the way from now on.
  19. It is interesting that all of the posts are opinion and conjecture! Unfortunately I'm someone who has had to make a claim. A couple of years ago my model crashed and caused some damage, fortunately no one was injured. I made a claim for the damage, filled in a form sent it to the BMFA insurance company had 1 letter back to clarity some terminology I'd used and that was that. Just the same as when you have an accident in your car. The insurance companies dealt directly with each other. The best £31 I've ever spent not only for covering the expense but also the piece of mind. You always assume its never going to happen to you. As someone said above, a no brainer!
  20. Looking good Simon. Goes together really well, jigsaw like, superb laser cutting and balsa quality.
  21. I built 1 a couple of years ago. Great quality kit, went together really well. The lazer cutting was so good that you can assemble the wings without glue then once satisfied everything is ok glue the structure together.   Great to fly as well, supurb slow flying so landings were no problem, excellent u/c..   Covering, I used white & light blue profilm. I think I have a picture somewhere, if you want to have a look I'll post it on the thread when I get home.   You'll have fun building and flying it.
