  1. A Multiplex Gemini and a large box of toothpicks and a King-sized flagon of Cyano just in case . . .
  2. Great set of detail photos, Chinesespaceman.  Quite daunting to consider reproducing that amount of detail.  It would have been super to see some cockpit shots but there are a few knocking around on the web, not many, but a few.  I wish I could join in the self-help team but my build is stalled (I have only finished the tailplane - and I may remake that as I built it a bit heavy) as my workshop (Spare room) is temporarily closed for this purpose. I like the modification to the rudder post and am curious to see if the rudder turns okay like that once the hinges are installed.
  3. I use a 3s 2200 lipo and get upwards of 20 mins flight from that stooging around.  It works fine with the standard speed 400 motor if you don't give it full throttle all the time - although I did eventually change to a brushless motor.  I got  the lipos from Hong Kong on Flea Bay for around 15 Euros and they have lasted well.  I expect you will always have the Easy Star in the boot of your car even when you have moved to other models as they are virtually indestructable and remain good fun for a long time apparently.
  4. I guess you must have checked the CofG with battery where you have it, but mine (a 2200 mA Lipo)  needed to be forward of the Rx, right in the nose in fact ,to get the balance right.   I prefer in any case to have it up front where it can't drive into the Rx on abrupt landings.
  5. My first one was not strickly speaking a flying incident; I had finaly  finished building my Sopwith Camel and ran outside to fly it  (I was about twelve at the time) and tripped and fell on top of the thing, crushing it completely.  LOL - well I didn't laugh at the time.   And then just two days ago my model flipped on its back and pluged straight to earth - well rock actualy - for no good reason.  LOL - well I didn't laugh at the time.  The series continues. . .
  6. My kit didn't have preformed ribs in the tail either and was also short of a few bits here and there, although I have not advanced very far so maybe much more is missing.  As for the instructions they are clearly written for someone who does not need them. It is true that there are masses of photos around - there are some good ones here Photos- but not many give detail shots which would be useful later on in the build.
  7. I'd be realy pleased to have a look at any DH Chipmunk photos you take, Gavin.  I too have an Airsail Chippy building - at the moment held up for lack of space - and would like some detail photos.  Good luck on your getting access to the full size job and lots of luck with the build.   Lee
  8. Yyou will want to change the stick mode as well as moving the ratchet over.  This is done on the 6EX by turning on the transmitter and holding down MODE and SELECT simultaneously and then using the DATA INPUT lever to display the desired mode. But you knew that.
  9. Windolene (or Windex or whatever is the local name) window cleaning spray has enough amonnia in it to do the trick, bit better smelling than the other method
  10. After the prices i used to pay in Italy its almost free here in France.
  11. Ill give you a UK address, just send it there, thanks,  Sorry you other guys.
  12. Funny how these little things can be hard to nail down.  I rather think my "a preuve du" should be "a l'épreuve du", bit sloppy there; should have asked my wife, she is close to bi-lingual in French/English.  Hi, Myron, if you mean the domestic electricity is cheaper here than in the UK, I think it might well be - but it keeps going up, just the same, as does the domestic gas.  If the Russians decide to get more stroppy than they already are then it will go up even more - or just get turned off.  Back to charcole burning soon.
  13. I think that might come out almost as, paint that proves fuel, Lee    Maybe, peinture a preuve du carburant, if you want to go that way.  Peinture pour un avion thermique, would get the idea across as well, too.  But are not most of these modeling paints fuelproof anyway?  Me I fly electric
  14. One translation might be: Peinture resistant au méthanol.
  15. You could give these people a call Model Fixings
  16. Well, Shaun, like I said it was best not to hold your breath waiting for these shots, and here they are after a only a couple of months
  17. You are surely right, Erfolg.   Axi and similar motors are probably manufactured to stricter limits and with select materials - there has to be some justification for the huge price differance apart from labour costs - I guess my question was just how great is the quality differance and will it put the model's and fliers at risk.  It would seem not; as you say, if one were flying competition then everything would need to be as tight and responsive as possible, but maybe the Sunday flyer risks just as much with a Turnigy as with an Axi.
  18. Thanks for you replies, Guys.  Well, a hundred views so far and nobody has said "You get what you pay for."  It would seem that El Cheepo is "Good Enough."   Maybe the Chinese maunfacturers are not cutting costs on materiels, just on employees wages. Interesting your only failures were with the expensive stuff, Erflog.
  19. A well known "top quality" motor costs $155 while the low-cost equivalent costs just $42.   This seems too big a difference to just be brand value.  Are they really worth the extra I wonder.  Just what do you get for your extra bucks?  Will a high quality motor be that more efficent and give longer run times, or is it longer life or better reliability?  I wonder how measurable this is. I agree with the saying that if you buy quality you only cry once, but the price differance are so great one has to wonder.  The same goes for ESCs  the cheaper versions cost a fraction of the big name versions; is one really risking a model by going cheap? What is your experience?
  20. Someone over there will be sure to give you a hand and there is always someone who speaks a bit of English around.  Best of luck, anyway, Shaun.
