  1. Posted by Phil 9 on 16/08/2017 08:54:41: but the one from Australia could be the last one **LINK** I tried to order the one from Australia last night but it just kept saying error after payment screen. Baz
  2. Can anyone help keep my old girl in the air. I'm after a tail slide (original part H3045 Tail slide ring set) the picture below shows the part I'm looking for, on mine the silver pin is wobbling I've looked online and can't get a new one (possibly one in Australia) But I thought I would see if anyone has a crashed nexus where this might have survived. Thanks Barry.

  5. Looks great Craig, I'm looking forward to seeing it myself. baz
  6. Finally finished Motor is a bit bigger than Ton's, Turnigy 2836/1100kv spinning a 10x5 prop. This produces 175 Watts / 16.5 Amps. The models AUW is 1lb 7oz (660g) so that's about 120 Watts per lb, should be rather quick C of G is spot on with no extra weight required Hopefully I'll get a chance to give it it's maiden flight sometime this week. 9. Posted by Ton van Munsteren on 25/03/2017 22:42:15: Hi Barry, Good news that your almost ready to have a go with the Raider. Yes it can be very handy to have as many spare as you can, I have a big bottle of glue and some foam to fill the holes where the foam has been taken out by a prop. You can never have enough foam or glue. The Raider of your mate looks great has it been flown already, it looks to beautiful. Had great fun today had lots of wind but was great fun doing vertical landings with the Raider. Ton My friends red raider in the picture above has been flown a few flights now but no one to combat with yet. Here is how mine is getting on Few changes, as I said earlier it is only 800mm wingspan as a tester. The sheet of foam I bought was 2400 x 600mm so if this works at 800mm I'll get 6 wings from 1 sheet. The motor mount isn't glued fully around the outside of wing it is glued about 50mm into the leading edge. I've glued a 600mm carbon tube recessed in to the bottom of wing. I've used correx for the elevons. Next jobs are to install servos and receiver but getting their. Baz

  11. Evening Ton, I'm still in the process of getting all my components together. I only need an esc to complete my hot wire loom and have all the other bits to make the actual wing including the all important foam. I bought a sheet 2400x600 so going to try an 800mm wingspan 1st and if this works I will get 6 wings from 1 sheet (Will probably need them all once we start combat) Here is a picture of a Raider made by one of my club mates John. He says he had one of the original DB Raiders back in the 80s and had great fun "trying" to cut opponents streamers" Thanks Barry

  13. Posted by Ton van Munsteren on 17/03/2017 21:21:50: baz, Looking good please keep in mind you need a tensioner, because when heating the wire it will expand a little and will lose its tension. How have you tensioned yours! I presumed you just put the wire on very tight contracting the loom and then once hot it expands but is still taught. Barry

  15. Cheers for the email Ton, made my loom today. Like yours I made it from plastic pipe with 5mm bar. I've cut some grooves into the ends of rods to support the wire. I will be using a servo tester with a brushed ESC (anyone got a spare esc) for power. Couple of questions- What thickness of nichrome (swg) wire should I use? Plus where are people buying the foam from? baz Edited By brfc7 on 16/03/2017 21:51:26
  16. Buy a zagi flying wing for the slope, cut the remaining lug off incl the second servoands lugs and silicone them in. Baz
  17. Morning Pat, I've been wondering where you were hiding. I've been at the sluice about 10 times in last 5 weeks and no sign of you. I was their for an hour on Monday 4pm and again Tuesday 4.30 both times Chris C was their. I will be nipping down probably ever day this week as the wind is between N-NE until at least Sunday. Might see you their. Baz
  18. I rough up both the end of the carbon rod and the z bent wire. Then cyano the z bent wire on to rod. I then wrap thread around the whole joint around and around covering the whole of it and then cover this all in cyano and finish it off with some heatshrink to tidy it all up Baz Edited By brfc7 on 19/03/2016 09:28:45
  19. 20+ mph North Easterly winds today so I'll be at Seaton Sluice sometime today as soon as the rain stops Gliders are already. Baz
  20. Got a flight in on the way home from work at 5ish with my Fizza as it's now light until after 5.30 baz
  21. Re Transmitter - In both my Futaba FF7 and FF8 I've got 2500mah NiMh and I let them go to 5 hours use before a recharge and even then only 1200mah goes back in. If I was worried I'd rather just take a spare fully charged battery pack to the field with me. baz Edited By brfc7 on 18/02/2016 21:34:24
  22. Posted by Andy Meade on 09/02/2016 08:34:48: That is quite a bit! Crikey, I could build it for half of that. Yes I was thinking could I be bothered to knock a few up to sell ha. Baz
  23. Posted by Andy Meade on 02/02/2016 11:08:41: An F86 Sabre for sale on eBay that can be sent in the post, so more useful than most model sales on there. Wow £102 finishing bid, That's a fair bit more than I expected it to go for. baz
  24. Was an easy build Jack. The main changes were putting 1 servo in each wing for ailerons and a servo on port side for elevator. I didn't bother with a moving rudder and you'll also see from above picture that I made the rudder smaller so that I could then have a single piece elevator rather than a jointed one either side of rudder. baz
  25. Well my fizza has had four x 7 minute flights now and I love it  After landing the lipos were still between 30-40% charged so could push to 8+ minute flights. This is definitely going to be staying in the boot of my car ready for the odd opportunity of a flight Only thing to do is get a spinner to fit as I can't find one as yet. baz Edited By brfc7 on 22/01/2016 10:12:36 Edited By brfc7 on 22/01/2016 10:14:04
