  6. Posted by Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 26/01/2012 10:24:37: I think I've got the worst of all possible worlds on this. I don't throw them out - but I don't store them neatly stacked in order either! So they are are in boxes - just as I picked them up - or on shelves in various rooms around the house - random stacks. Not a cat's chance in hell of ever finding anything! I really should gather them together and sort them out....no I shouldn't life's too short   BEB Edited By Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 26/01/2012 10:25:25 Yeh, but you can 'dig in' when you feel like it, and every article is new! (ish). My ol' man is forever pulling out old issues with the acompanying statement, - " you can build one of these when you've finished crashing your ARTF's !"   Im 45. I know deep down he is right !   BB

  10. Don't know a lot about leccy gear, but is a 40 amp ESC enough ? Thats quite a large prop & those frames are a bit 'sporty', even in Depron.         (edit)  Ah, I guess the ampage is offset against the weight of the frame.  Still, the drag will still be significant.   BBEdited By BB on 27/01/2012 23:16:40
  11. Converting anything less than a .50 is dicy. You will shorten the engine life, and reliability may be a problem. Your head speed will be higher, meaning bearings will be replaced more frequently. A couple of fellas at my patch Flambirds fly 700+ class on petrol 26cc and above, flybar & less. They seem to get on ok. Works out cheaper too at 30:1: And with the right exhuast system you barely realize they are flying Petrol.   Just engines do a conversion kit Just Engines. Generally the service is good. Especially if they send a part out not 'spec', that fails.   BBEdited By BB on 27/01/2012 22:54:03

  13. Couple of Sub -C A123 type battery linked through a matchbox or similar should be fine. Savox all round will draw some power. CRRC 26 v2 (if it is) is an ok engine. Slightly down on power to a Zenoah,MVVS equilvelant. No standard clunk in the tank, go felt.   Oh, Take the ratchet off your throttle stick if you haven't already. Aids 3d'ing.   Eagle Tree battery backup   Battery   SMServices   CRRC bits n'pieces   Am sure better folk than me will be along with better and more comprehensive advice     Edited By BB on 27/01/2012 19:03:37
  14. Ref; the thread title -- NO ! I flippin' well won't ! Lived in me flat 17 years. Proud of my scientific adulation of 'space - manipulation'. Finally surcumbed to the hobby 4 years ago. I now rent a space for the un-built 'over-spill': And every room in my flat still shows signs (Big signs) of an idiot unable to say no to the hobby   BB

    linking problems

Thought you'd gone walkabout David after I saw Timbo on early duty a few minutes ago. Either that, or, he ain't been bedeebys yet !   Your quite right. The 'Copy&Paste', can in some browsers destroy the window pane, resulting in a distortion to the page. a bit like linking from 'Word' incorrectly. I normally do as you say. Nick the photo & repost.   Still after a 13 hr shift lastnight Im happy me brains still functioning enough to find 5 examples....Still 3 nights off now to recover   BB Edited By BB on 19/01/2012 08:47:58

    linking problems

Five examples of 'linking'.  The last example is a 'Copy & Paste' affair.     1) Below is a hyper link to a pic in another thread. Picture   2) And below is a picture resulting from an inserted Url link when you click on the 'insert image' Icon at the top of the posting window.  This produces a pic from another thread.   3) Below is a link for the thread that contains the pic   Thread title - "Tim's next project"     4)Failing all the above you can copy a pic from a thread to a photo album of your own making, and post from there.     5) Copy&Paste - Below.     I find it a lot easier if I open a second tab in my browser for this site.  Then in the thread I am 'linking' into I copy the necessary 'link' from the thread I want to copy from, from the 'other' tab I've created.     Quite a versatile platform this is really.    BB   Edited By BB on 19/01/2012 08:04:54

  21. Posted by Alex Gibbs on 18/01/2012 14:23:30: that pylon and engine is a bit pricy are there any cheaper ones around BB?   and it only has rudder and elevator frank, surely gliders have aerlions as well?   thanks for the help also guys @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css); @import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);   They are a bit.. It was just an example for ya to have some idea.   BB
  22. Posted by Frank Skilbeck on 18/01/2012 09:16:44: Looks like it was originally designed as a glider, I'd be tempted to complete it and fly it as a glider, but if you want to go power some form of pylon mount on the wing could be an option, i.e. like the Multiplex Easy Star.     I.E. Link below; Pylon motor mount   Add a flange to the base to be retained by Rubber bands, or, fix solid etc.    BBEdited By BB on 18/01/2012 09:28:01
