David Gilder
Hey all, Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a plan for Cyril Carrs Aero L59 for PSS. I eagerly await your replies!! Cheers.
David Gilder
I have to say, I didnt expect this to clearly "stump" everyone!!!!! Ce La Vie!! I have had a very kind offer to use some-one elses plans for this model, so hope to start the build in a few weeks / months, (work and girlfriend dependant!!) David Gilder
Well I know it's been a long time since I opened this thread, I have started to cut out the parts for this! it shouldn't take too long to get this one built although it will not be as quick as our prolific builder Mr Bennett!!!! I will get some pics up as and when I can. Dave.
ben goodfellow 1
i think i just built one of these , about 40 inch span right , i put a 64 edf unit in it flew but needs for power
David Gilder
That's the one Ben! How did you find the build? Hoping to get this one done and dusted quickly!
ben goodfellow 1
was no problem other than i had to adapt it for the edf unit . it dose look good though i am going to build another one when finish the current build . i see the OP is quite old where did you get your plan as i am sure mine came as a freebie with a mag
David Gilder
It was a free pro plan from RCM&E. I think it was in 2008!! I was sent the plan by a fellow modeller along with the pics from the mag!
David Gilder
Well I have been getting some of the bits cut out and started to do some glueing! Already starting to look like a model!! Ben, Do you have any pics of your build or even completed model? If so, feel free to put some on here! More will follow soon! Dave

ben goodfellow 1
just took these for you, had a bit of a hard time putting them on, sorry if the format is a bit dodgy
David Gilder
Thanks Ben. I see you made the air intakes bigger and further back to suit the DF! Also the hatch above the DF! Are you planning to pit the Tip Tanks on it to give it it's full look? Dave.
Tony Bennett
now that is smart, though surely the edf that far back will mean masses of nose weight is needed ?
David Gilder
The original plan is for an inrunner at the back as a pusher, so it used to have nicads up front to counter! With the DF unit just rear of the wing, it should balance okay with a reasonable Lipo under the canopy! ben goodfellow 1
well no i was supprised with a 3s 2200 it was spot on , this was my test version ,i would like a one thats a bit better ie influx better and a bit tidier it also needs a bigger edf or 4s this motor wont take 4s though. but experimenting is half the fun . i did make 1 tip tank out of laminated 1/4 sheet . i am busy building another free plan from years ago , a coachman trainer for my little lad to learn. when thats done i will get a better l59 done hopefully
David Gilder
2 quick pics for you all! Will try and put more info on when I have time! Dave.
ben goodfellow 1
. what you doing for covering i glassed my whole wing then covered it as i used a very thin section so as to strengthen it. the fuse does not need it with all that 1/2 inch balsa in it . in my opinion i think yours looks better without the side intakes on
David Gilder
As I'm planning to use this as a light wind ship, I will be covering with solar film. Just need to choose the design as it needs to be a proper one for PSS!!! Its going to have the intakes as it has to look correct, however, I am toying with the idea of making these from foam and veneering them! Time will tell!! David Gilder
Time for an update! The fuselage has been completed and I have covered opt this evening in its base colour of white, ready for the scale colours to go on! Wings are joined and wing bandage drying. Tip tanks shaped and ready for covering prior to glueing onto the wings! So, here's a pic of the fuselage tonight to give you a glimpse! Will give you all an update as things progress!! David Gilder
Thanks Tim, It should be finished in a week or so and will be maidening off the Orme in April (weather permitting!) Dave
David Gilder
Cheers Olly. Once I've flown this one, I may be convinced to put it up for sale to a needy flyer with no build area!! That does of course depend on just how much I like it!!
