Olly P
Peter, Have you tried VMAR themselves - I found it best to ring them as there email takes a while to reply, but they are usually quite helpful...

cymaz
Cheers for the replies. Does VMAR have a dedicated phone number Olly P ???
David Ashby - Moderator
Peter, VMAR are a company based in Vietnam, no harm in trying I guess.... Have you contacted them direct then Olly?
Andy Palmer
Can't help with a canopy but I am considering buying a VMAR Chipmunk for electric power. How do you rate the model? Thanks,
cymaz
The vmar canopy was for a mate, I don't own one. I do own the Blackhorse Chip 60" model ( I couldn't face the wife if I had the 45cc size one) It fleis really well and no vices.
Andy Palmer
That was brilliant timing, I have just ordered the Black Horse Chipmunk, I pick it up tomorrow morning. Having read the reports on the BH one I decided it was worth paying the extra money for one that everyone says it good, I found some pretty negative stuff about VMAR models in general. cymaz
I put a asp70 fs fully inverted....goes well and sounds really nice.
Andy Palmer
That's good to hear Peter, I think my electric set-up is approx equivalent to a 70 fs. Just got back from the shop, I got the Chipmunk as planned but also got tempted by by a VQ CAP 10 and ended up buying that as well! Now which should I assemble first.... cymaz
TOSS A COIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andy Palmer
I've started... it's the CAP first. I don't think it will take long and then I will move on to the Chipmunk. They are both lovely models but I think the Chipmunk is probably higher quality.
cymaz
Take your time with the belly pan and make sure it lines up with the fus, if need be put the wings on to give you a better idea.
Andy Palmer
OK wil do. I read on another forum that the belly pan is not the easiest part to fit decently. Thanks.
cymaz
And also where the cover fits over the tailwheel assembly in the rear of the fus,,,I screwed mine down instead of glueing it- just in case I should ever want to readjust the rudder and tail wheel assembly. Andy Palmer
OK, I will watch for that then. I expect you have read this thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=739137 Lots of helpful stuff there. Do you know what the finished weight of yours is, and did you have any problems achieving the recommended CG position?
cymaz
Er...never weighed mine but with the ASP I only had to add about 15-20g of nose ballast.
Andy Palmer
That's quite encouraging, some people seem to have needed lots of lead in the nose.
cymaz
I put the engine as far forward as poss, and ASP are not the lightest. Hope the pics do justice....
Andy Palmer
It looks as if I can get my batteries well forward so I think it should be fine and hopefully need little or no lead.
