Big Bandit
Posted by Terence Lynock on 29/01/2011 23:47:02:Get one of those bumbag things and strap it on under your jumper close to your body and stick your batteries in that, it will keep your Lipos at around 70f and when you put them in the model wrap them in the thin foam used under laminate flooring or thin polystyrene sheet, keeps the warmth in longer........ Brilliant idea Terry, there's one somewhere in the garage, off to look for it. Chris.
Olly P
or even better the money belts that you get for carrying cash when abroad...Thinner and closer to the body. Welcome back Tim. good to see you mate.
Phil Claridge
call me pessamistic, but i would'nt have a bag of lipo's that close to the family jewels i would use one of those wheat bags you stick in the microwave as a heatwrap for back pain. put the bag in a picnic insulated box with bateries on top
Big Bandit
Phil, You could try strapping a lipo safe bag on . Good idea about the wheat bag though.Chris.
Tim Mackey
Hi Olly, hope your doing OK in whatever part of the world you are currently - no doubt warmer than here! On the lipo warming front, I carry small packs in my trouser pockets ( ALWAYS make sure the terminals are insulated guys ! ) and the missus made me up a sort of quilt carry pouch for most of the other sizes. The night before a flight, I fully charge indoors in warm room, then wrap them up, and keep them like that on the journey to the field - only fitting them at the last minute before flight. flytilbroke
Last Summer, all my gardening aquaintances had the best fruit crops ever, and this winter has been brilliant. I have never known seven consecutive Sundays flying before, though just a bit cold at minus umpteen. Last Winter now, 13 weeks raining without a break. Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Yes, you have a point on the winter FTB - while it has been cold there has been plenty of flying. But the summer was miserable here - too wet and far too windy BEB
Spice Cat
To cheer things slightly, here is a selection of photos taken at Biggin Hill in 2009. Also shows the good results you can get with a Kodak 5mp digital camera. Enjoy. PS I particularly enjoyed the Apache. Did things no ten ton helicopter should do. Terence Lynock
Well, I pause the vid, call up the embed code and copy, come back to the forum, call up the Utube icon and enter the embed code, tell it to insert and I get the white blank page, it has always worked before after BEB sorted it, just the kind of day I am having I think... <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="350" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/M9Ivl_JxSfk" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe>
