Tom Wright 2
PL fun aerobat. Tail glued in place, wing glued in place with servos fitted ,weight and balance done ,nose cut to length , just got the motor bulkhead to make and fit ,then install the rx,esc, and motor. Have booked the camera for a test flight this evening ,that's if the thunder storms hold off long enough. The auw weight is looking like 8.8 oz maybe a little more when a u/c is fitted.Edited By Tom Wright 2 on 27/06/2011 12:33:

Tom Wright 2
Hi FB3. Got it propped down to 95 W per lb for the try out ,hoping to get easy inverted ,clean rolls, loops ,slow landings, and at least 15min air time.Edited By Tom Wright 2 on 27/06/2011 15:32:
fly boy3
I know you are a very busy man Tom,designing, building, testing, and flying. But when you can find time can you please explain to a non leccy (so far) man, how you work out the min air time, as per your last post. ThanksEdited By fly boy3 on 27/06/2011 17:06:

Tom Wright 2
Hi FB3. The estimated air time is a function of the average current draw against the lipo capacity.
fly boy3
I follow Tom, so a lipo with a larger capacity should give longer air time provided the extra weight does not cancel it out. Cheers
Tom Wright 2
A larger lipo well generally increase air time ,of course a little more power will be needed to carry the extra weight . As an example ,when the the standard PL lipo was updated from 500ma to 1000 ma the extra airtime was about 85%. The subject is in reality mathematically quite complex ,but it is easy to establish a "rule off thumb" for most aspects of simple design. fly boy3
Thanks Tom,still struggling to get a pic. of my nearly completed (build only) Twin boom into my album, and eventually into the forum. cheers
Tom Wright 2
FB3. Click on edit albums and then add photos, this will bring up a browse box click on that and it should take you to your photos ,click on the photo you want then click open and wait while it loads and click save. That should put it into your forum album.Use photo bucket as per Tim's instructions to load on to the thread. Note you don't have to put it in your forum album .photo bucket will take pics strait from your docs or pics.Edited By Tom Wright 2 on 27/06/2011 19:05:
Tony Bennett
well my pipe lagger flew tonight. i got 2 flights out of it before a rough landing broke the nose.i think that i will need to replace the brushed motor with brushless as fitting the brushed motor weakens the foam nose. still it flew. yay. Tom Wright 2
Hi Tony . Just for the benefit of other PL builders your successful flights were not with with one of my PL designs ,your model is a much heaver 48" span job which uses a PL type fus . Never the less it has got that wing into the air so keep up the good work . .

Tony Bennett
sorry tom.i should point out to everyone that my pipe lagger uses a similar design of fuselage but a larger 48* span molded polystyrene wing and is not a tom's design pipe lagger. sorry for any confusion that i might have fostered. plus the fact that i am a useless pilot doesn't help. fly boy3
Don't worry about it Tony, with the amount of flying I have done due to this bad weather we have had over the last 6 or 7weeks I will be ending up a bad pilot too. LoL Cheers
Tom Wright 2
Different design Tony but your pilot skills are coming on by leaps and bounds, don't underestimate how well your getting on. .

fly boy3
Has Pete's model had the foam fus painted black, or is it a trick of the light. Cheers
