Steve W-O
Another thing I do is to stick strips of scotchtape onto the piece of covering that is going to be cut off, that means it is easy to hold taught and get a straighter line, especially when the cut off strip is narrow. I usually get several strips about 4" long ready stuck lightly to the edge of the table, prepared for use.
Geoff Smith 1
Posted by Pete B on 05/01/2012 17:04:38: That's a great idea, Steve, I've got the blades but you wouldn't believe how difficult it is to buy ice-lollies out of season in France......... I shall certainly try this. Im always surprised how quickly film takes the edge off any blade - one cut and that's yer lot, in my experience........ Has anyone tried a Crafty Cutter? Looks good but I suspect the blades go just as quickly. Pete Hiya Pete, yes mate tried it. Now I don't know if it was me but it worked fine until it seemed to hit a hard spot and didn't cut but tore the Solafilm so I ditched it and used my scalpel. Cheers Geoff..........Surgery dept. Myron Beaumont
If I'm trimming off a long straight edge (or any other for that matter!) eg a wing LE ,I put a length of about 1/4" square spruce against the edge under the film and run a sharp /new blade along it .Adjust the placement obviously to end up with the right amount to stick down after the trimming. Simples !
