Josip Vrandecic -Mes
Gm Ken,I watched a report of "Air crash investigation" by Nat Geo,there where explain that a reduced range of unpowered airplane(reduced the gliding ability to reach the coast) caused by increased drags, because the props were not set up in neutral position (pitch) . note:One of the reasons of the crash.... Anyway very sad..... Cheers Jo. Edited By Josip Vrandecic -Mes on 19/02/2012 10:35:
Ian Jones
While there are clearly other issues, it remains the case that the pilots were faced with misleading information at a time when when well informed decisions needed to be made - including what procedure to attempt to follow. Whilst not without blame, it seems to me that the pilots have been treated harshly. A sad outcome to a series or errors that could have resulted in no survivors at all. I have to say that I don't usually look at these crashes on YouTube, firstly because I don't like to but mostly because of the disgraceful comments that are often made below the video.. Steve W-O
I can't remember the exact details, but the best large glider I heard of was when a plane was diverted 60 mlles south of it course crossing the Atlantic, then due to a leak and wrong procedures in the manual, they pumped the tanks dry. Dead stick landing, all on board OK, and due to being 60 miles south of the normal course, they were within glide range of a runway on a small island. Too much luch even for a confirmed athiest/agnostic The skill of those pilots can only be dreamed of by most
