Peter Miller
He was an American Circus strong man who claimed to be the strongest man in the world. I can't find any other Sandow from an earlier age. The model was originally a PAA load competiton model hence the name. craigyboy
hi peter i have just got a plan for sandow but im a little confused with the tail it says 3/16 on the plan but the cut outs on the ribs are both 1/4? ..... craig
Peter Miller
Hi Craig. No one has mentioned this one so far. I can't remember now what I did. Interestingly the cut away shows the 3/16 sq rear rib. Quite honestly structurally it will not make much difference. The original smaller model only used 1/16 X 1/8 spars. If you feel like changing the slot in the rib template do but if you want to use two 1/4" sq spars that is fine. Sorry that I have not been more helpful. Peter Miller
Hi Craig. Glad to have been of help.. I wish I had my original plan but lack of space means that I can't keep everything. You woud be surprised at how some plans get altered between leaving the designer and appearing in the magazine.
craigyboy
hi peter i can understand you having lack of space after all the years you have been building ect, some of it is knowing what to keep and what to get rid of cant be easy. i have parted with so many model's and plans which i have regretted afterwards but simply didnt have the space to keep them all, thank you for the replys peter i have always been a big fan of your work. kind regards craig
Peter Miller
I keep the magazine plans and articles. AS you say, as soon as you get rid of something you need it. That odd bit of scrap metal was just what one needed has gone. Some of my original old drawings are being kept by our club secretary but don't ask me me to and root through that lot!!
